Terrible service, mediocre food
The place is a fun but loud. The table are too closed to others, lack of personal space. The service is very attentive and friendly. The wines are good. The food is alright. The prawn one was amazing, but one of the pasta I ordered was a bit salty.
Great date night spot. Fun ambiance with good music, great service, delicious food, and amazing wine...all at a very reasonable price. Looking forward to going back soon.
Good selection of local in season produce handled well but not overdone
A hot mess.
Where do I begin?
Il Duce “hostess” was weird about seating at counter not being open but other host said it was open. I had a rez.
Waitress flustered, unkempt, not clean, insisted all items be ordered at one time "so we can plate them properly" , then brought one dish over an hour later as an afterthought. We boxed for home.
Mixed green salad piled into bowl w lemon juice, mounds/clumps of chives & fennel, no discernible evoo.
Lots of "Doors" & Hendrix at full volume.
Really mean, snarky person in black uniform brought pasta with a sarcastic comment.
Nice chef in kitchen behind counter w plaid shirt.
I miss real Italian hospitality.
Old North Beach haunts.
Bryn and her team and the food were phenomenal. You need to go!
After failing to get a reservation upstairs, I was excited to try dinner at Che Fico's downstairs wine bar space. I'm not sure if this was due to it being their first week, but it fell far short of Che Fico's reputation for inventive food and precise service. Alimentari shares none of that based on my experience Friday, with slow apathetic service and bizzare dishes that are frankly sloppily presented
We had some salumi, toasted ciabatta (served as one enormous slice despite there being two of us and $5), Misticanza (inedibly salty, sauteed vegetables described as a "salad"), Calamari (quite tasty actually) and Maialino al Forno (four enormous, thick slices of fried pork served on potatoes, should have been sliced far thinner).
I'm sure that we could have made better choices had we gotten more direction from our server, but we hardly saw her in the 2 hours it took to get everything and get through our meal. A far cry from the tales of fantastic service upstairs from friends who have been upstairs.
I'd recommend staying away from Che Fico Alimentari until they get their act together. It was an unpleasant, overpriced experience that left a nasty taste in our mouths and made it unlikely that we'll ever try the main restaurant.
It was delicious and authentic.Classic recipes prepared perfectly.A classic rarely seen, like the Sicilian Swordfish was exquisitely prepared with just enough of the complex flavors without being heavy. The focaccia served with marscapone butter was a lovely decadent indulgence in the day of low cholesterol. The memory of our dinner and writing about it is making me salivate!
Amazing food and intimate ambiance. Pasta is out of this world. Features extensive and unique wine list. Desert is not to be missed.
Improvement on the original. More intimate, better noise level with so you can have conversations without needing a bullhorn. Food was amazing. Still craving the sauce on the rigatoni. Sooo good. Service was very attentive. Morgan was great. Impressive for their only their 2nd being open. Definitely a must eat destination. Regularly.
