Amazing! The food was spectacular as was the service. If was 4 of us and we shared 4-5 dishes and dessert and was satisfied.

Heard a lot about this place and was able to get into the Alimentari downstairs restaurant. We were the first reservation and the hostess wanted to put the three of us at a bar table but switched us to a regular table when we complained. I should have taken that as a sign. We ordered the salami and striacatella to start then calamari, pasta and the suckling pig. The same hostess took our order and said that the pasta and pig take the same amount of time to cook and would come out together. That didn’t make sense but we accepted it though we would have preferred to have the pasta (primi) come before the pig (secondi). The first 3 dishes were fantastic. So far so good. Then a long wait. The hostess apologized and offered to bring us something to pick on. She then brings us a huge bruschetta monstrosity piled high with squash and Parmesan cheese. Just what we needed something to fill us up before the main course. Why not just bring our pasta? Her explanation: because the pasta is imported (?) and some other nonsensical reason about the pasta basket only holding so much etc. WTF. Pasta takes 12 min to cook at most and the one we ordered had no sauce. Just Parmesan, olive oil and pepper. How could that possibly take as a long as a suckling pig to cook? I found all this just insulting. My husband is Italian American and like most San Franciscans we are pretty savvy diners. I was considering trying to get into Che Fico upstairs before this but I likely won’t be back to either one.
It was an amazing experience and our waiter Jason was so informative and the quality of food presented for sharing and a lovely happy atmosphere

Food was outstanding, staff was well trained and on top of everything despite being a busy Saturday night.
there were 3 of us the other 2liked better than me - salad was just ok, bruschetta not my preference and the pasta was awful - way too salty (prob. due to the cheese you use) I would have preferred a wide flat noodle w/ better cheese the focaccia was salt heavy but desert & coffee were good! I much prefer food @Che Fico and will certainly go back there.
Food was good. Service was slow. It was a Tuesday and they weren’t particularly busy.
Awesome restaurant! We both loved our food. Right from the start, they had a waitress helping us go through their elebrotate wine menu then food was AMAZING!! And the nice wiater gave us a free dessert too! :) We loved it. Will definitely be back!

Everything is solid just make sure you leave room for dessert!

Glad to see the Che Fico Team keep the space after Theorita. The food was pretty good - Fig Bruschetta one of the best dishes we ate, Cacio e Pepe, light and not greasy Fried Zucchini Blossoms, and Maialino al Forno with delightfully crunchy skin. They were out of Spot Prawns which we though were a bummer but read other reviews they were small and difficult to eat.
The wine list seemed pretty extensive if you’re into that.
Service was solid too - they know the menu and will tell you all about it even if you’ve reviewed it like us.
The biggest issue we had though was the music. It was so loud. Why? Please don’t tell me it’s a Roman vibe. It’s been a few years since we’ve been but the people chatter was loud, not the music.
Just a note, not necessarily a deterrent - the lighting is quite dim. Much different than upstairs. I get they may be trying to set that mood but I like to see my food in good light.
Reservations are online 14 days in advance. Recommend if you want to be safe, they aren’t super hard to come by, but on a Thursday @815PM there were a handful of tables open.
Really disappointed - on a Sat night they were out of almost all their seafood dishes, our wine arrived well into the meal and the people next to us had dessert served with of glass in it. We will definitely not be returning.
Great ambiance and service. Good spot for a date, although I didn't think the food was amazing, just good. Would go back if someone asked me too, but probably not on my own.
Great meal at the new downstairs restaurant. The bread with figs and salmon were both outstanding dishes!!!
This was our second time at Alimentari; we were very disappointed. We felt extremely rushed by the service. Everyone around us had their plates cleared multiple times but ours weren’t once. The pastas were delicious, but we won’t be back. Service and value upstairs are far, far superior.

Food was very mediocre and not well balanced. So disappointed. The ambience is lovely and the staff were friendly and knowledgeable.
The speakers for music is so loud we could hardly visit without yelling. Good appetizers but we were disappointed in the pastas
When we arrived to our 5:30 reservation we were stunned when the hostess told us Che fico had 2 establishments and that our Open Table Rez was for downstairs in Che Fico Alimentari & not In Che Fico upstairs main restaurant! Fortunately She shared that this happens all the time and although she could not seat us at a table she could put us at the bar. It all worked out. The food was the best. The service was great. And we will be back with our friends!
Our reservation was made for 7:15pm. We arrive a few minutes after 7:15pm and checked in and was told our table was not yet ready. We were fine with waiting until we got seated. However, we were unaware that we would be waiting until 7:35 for someone came up to us to re-confirm our name. I then received an email from Opentable saying that I was a no show for my reservation. When I checked back in with the host, they said that there was an error on their end and we would be seated momentarily. We finally got seated around 7:45 or so. Surprisingly it still took a few more minutes to be greeted and given water. We were quite hungry at that point so we placed our order as soon as the server arrived. We were given a complimentary bruschetta for the inconvenience that we experienced with the wait. After our antipasto came, it then took quite long for our pasta dish to arrive. At that point we wanted to pace ourselves since we ordered the suckling pig (for two), so we stopped eating the food we already had and let the server know. She informed us that the pig would arrive shortly. 15-20 min passed and we started to feel that the wait was quite unacceptable (esp given the server made it sound as though the pig was going to come out in just a minute or two). We finally called the server over and asked her how much longer it would take and if we could possibly just cancel it. Once we asked, the server said our food was coming out of the oven now. We finally got our food AFTER we asked. After feeling quite full already and in a need to leave, we only shared one piece of pork and asked to have everything packed up. We settled the bill and left at 9:30! We were fairly disappointed with our experience despite really enjoying the food. We felt they could have communicated better and informed us of the wait for the pig (even if it was unexpected) which could have tempered our frustration with such a long wait without knowing what was going on or if we were forgotten again.
My fiance and I ordered a number of things but overall it was hit or miss. Here is what we ordered:
- Focaccia: really good
- Fried Squash Blossoms: done well
- Bruschetta: the cherry tomatoes were really fresh and sweet but a little messy to eat
- Mussels and ‘Nduja: the waitress recommended, but when we order they were not fresh at all (i got sick that night and my fiance wasn't feeling that well either). Even the table next to us ordered the mussels and they commented it wasn't fresh
- Bucatini Cacio e Pepe: was really heavy, by this time i wasn't feeling good so not sure i can have an accurate comment
- Marin Coast King Salmon: probably our favorite, done really well and would recommend
We do order from their dessert counter quite often so would definitely recommend that, we really enjoy their desserts.
We had a lovely dinner - really nicely staff and excellent food. This place is great for vegetarians. Very romantic and an excellent wine selection. Can get a glass of wine if you have to wait which is fun
Last night as residents in SF
Great pasta dishes and our waitress was super nice. The charcuterie and cheese was also super yummy. The only thing I didn’t love was their espresso. It was Ritual which is super popular but I wasn’t a fan. Would definitely return to try other dishes.
Everything was amazing. The only complaint I have is we only got 2 zucchini blossoms and they were very small. Should include 4.
Everything else was excellent.
Focaccia is a MUST! Bucatini was great but soooo rich. The short rib was unbelievably tender. The shrimp scampi was good but the shrimp were so tiny there was hardly any meat. They give you hot towels after ( likely because they know you will be digging in the shell desperately looking for a shard of shrimp!). The atmosphere was great and the server was so sweet. They do pack you in. The tables were so close together that the couples on both sides of us volunteered their input merely because they could hear every word we said as we were deciding what to order. Overall we liked it a lot and will be back!

Similar to its sister restaurant Che Fico, all the menu items are priced roughly 10% to 20% more than they should actually cost. I excused this at Che Fico because of the ambiance and the execution. However, Alimenteri fails to deliver. With a much more limited menu you would expect everything coming out of the kitchen to be too notch . No so. The braised short rib was one of the worst we've ever had. Similarly the salad we ordered was simply a half dozen leaves of butter lettuce coated in oil - for $14! Other dishes were ho-hum. I can think of a lot better places to spend $300 for two people.
Sommelier (Jenna) was the highlight
Everything was fine, but not special. Honestly, I think the food portions were small and priced a bit too high, and we were up-sold on almost everything. Meh.
Definitely a great dining experience! Our waiter was knowledgable of the menu, helped guide us in our food journey (what to order depending on our taste, how much food for our party of 3) and was attentive throughout the evening.

The service at Che Fico Alimentari is really what sets it apart. The food and wine was great, but the service! The service was so lovely. Everyone, from host, to server, to food runner--everyone seemed genuinely happy we were dining with them. And they all seemed genuinely happy to be working at Che Fico. The delicious meal and exceptional service make me want to return.
I had one amazing meal at Che Fico Alimentari, but on my second visit, every dish was extremely salty.
Everything was fantastic. May I dare say the food was even better than the restaurant above it. Everything we ordered: fried squash blossoms, bucatini cacio pepe, swordfish, short ribs... divine. Absolutely delicious.
The only complaint we had was the noise level. Wayyy too loud. I could hardly hear the person sitting next to me. Will definitely go back.
