Chaz on the Plaza Ratings and Reviews
Chaz on the Plaza is a lovely restaurant - very pretty and a nice ambiance. We started with cocktails and were given enough time to enjoy them before ordering our dinner. I had the special clam chowder which was delicious and my friend had a green salad which was huge. I had the filet of sole which was excellent over vegetables. My friend had the rib-eye and he said the meat was amazing. We finished with coffee and a chocolate dense cake that had to be a million calories but excellent! Service was excellent and we were never rushed. When we left the restaurant and walked through the bar area it was lively and a very comfortable space. I would definitely return on my next visit to Kansas City.
From walking in to Resturant the lady that seated us and check our coats was so very personal she even introduced herself by name
And bar service before dinner was absolutely great
And our dinner waitress Tara was so great would go back every time I'm in Kansas City
"I love the relaxed feel of this place – like a comfortable dining room in a friends home. I definitely would return to try more dishes. Service was well-timed and friendly, wines were affordable." Staff was very helpful. They may it possible for a person with disability to enter into the restaurant with much ease. (Thank You!) Everyone enjoyed their meal. Some menu items were a little pricey. The main course for the price should come with least a bowl of soup or a side salad.
My second occasion for being at the restaurant with a large group and it was most enjoyable.
A special Thank You for providing a free dessert to our quest speaker whose Birthday was on the day we were at "Chaz". What a wonderful gesture. He was so very happy.
I brought two bottles of wine for a birthday celebration. I requested to be charged one corkage fee for the two bottles in advance, but was charged two corkage fees totaling $50. This has to be the highest corkage fee in the city. It will greatly influence a decision to return to this restaurant that is mediocre at best.
The restaurant came highly recommended, but it ended up being a bust for us. Our waiter was not attentive at all, the seating was poor and we could not hear the music, dinner options were limited (table next to us had an issue with the mahi si we took it off our list), price was high for the quality and quantity of food. I am afraid that we will not be returning, it was a special birthday celebration and it ended up being the biggest dissapiintnent of the day
Tomato soup, that had been highly recommended by server, was lukewarm and pretty ordinary (two of us at the table had ordered the soup and we both concurred). The scallops were much too salty. I had asked for lemon for my water, and didn't get it until at least 15 minutes later.
Long overdue review. We used to live in KC so knew that Chaz was a great venue for music
& cocktails. We had one free night, Sunday, & the entertainment was the very talented
Mengel Brothers. What a treat! Classically trained, but they also beautifully played pop, jazz, Broadway, rock.....whatever one desired that was on their extensive list. These gentlemen were fun too with great interaction with the audience. We'll be back!
We ate here on a Saturday night. We requested to be seated in the dining room so we could hear the live music in the bar and that request was accommodated. I had the halibut special and my companion had the steak. Both dishes were well-prepared and tasted delicious. We had nice glasses of wine and enjoyed the music. Service is very polished and everyone with whom we came in contact was very welcoming. There is valet parking available if that matters to you. Even with the music, conversation was easy. It is kind of expensive, but when you factor in the service with the food and the setting, it is worthwhile.
I was disappointed with the quality of the meal vs the price. Nothing special.
The soup was ho hum and you got a demitasse for $8. The scallops were very good but the chicken was unremarkable.
Service was fine and the ambience was very nice.
Menu was missing the old favorites like the shrimp and grits and ths other seafood selections.
Took another couple here for their 10th wedding anniversary. Had a lovely private booth and the staff had prepared a nice anniversary card which was on the table when we arrived. Food was excellent and the service was outstanding. Enjoyed a very nice wine. Not our first visit-we really enjoy this restaurant and our friends were very impressed.
Birthday dinner. Went for music & great food, & weren't disappointed. Our server (Mula) was excellent. Shared an order of mussels - unusual preparation, but quite good. My spouse ordered beef tenderloin, which was superb; I ordered lamb chops which was excellent. Finished with flourless chocolate cake which was excellent. Also shared a bottle of Owen Rowe Cabernet (Palermo) which was very nice.
Thanks for a memorable evening!
