Great food, salmon and filet mignon were superb. Calamari was best that I have ever had. Wine Ali quits we’re miniscule. Live music and atmosphere superb. Have gone there before and will go again.
Great service from our server. We loved the ambiance as the live music hummed in the background, nice menu with an inventive options. Some may call the decor ‘old school’ we find it comforting overall. A truly delightful meal and experience.
A wonderful experience. The staff knew the menu and was able to offer suggestions. The food was great and they paid a large attention to every detail.
Just a wonderful place to have a nice quiet and romantic evening with great food and relaxing entertainment.! We come here and stay at the hotel a couple weekends a year and we live 20 minutes away!
We are from out of town and were told by KC friends that Chaz was excellent. The food was quite good, except for the panzanella salad, which was mostly rather dry croutons with occasional flecks of kale and squash, on a bed of speck. I had expected lots more vegetables and fewer croutons. The wait staff were very responsive to my comment, and offered to bring either another dish or some greens with dressing. I chose the latter. The service was very attentive and it was a pleasure to dine in a setting with NO LOUD MUSIC to interrupt our conversation!
Perhaps we were expecting more than we got in the way of food and inspired plates. Things were okay but for a nearly $200 for two people (including only one alcoholic drink, no coffee, etc) we were expecting more wow or yummm or something more notable than we got. Enjoyed most the live music in the background of oldies but goodies. Too bad because I think of this as a destination place but it wasn't/
As usual, the service and meal were superb. We both had the spinach salad and pork saltimbocca. The spinach was very fresh and the poached pears, grapes, dried cherries, blue cheese crumbles, hazelnut vinaigrette dressing made it one of the best we have ever had. The pork (medium well but still juicy and slightly pink) could not have been more tasty and the lemon risotto was absolutely delicious. We have never been disappointed.
We love Chaz and the 40 mile, one way, trip worth it. Just have to wait for good weather and go for lunch, old and after dark doesn’t work. If you haven’t tried put on your to do list will not be sorry.
Food was perfect as usual. Helpful staff. Live Music. Value is definitely there for a quality meal with some creative elements. For instance, great salad choices. We miss the Shecrab soup and Chilean Sea Bass (our favs), but our choices from the new menu were great any ways.
One of the best meals we have had in years. Food was the best quality.
Wonderful service as always, 5th trip back to the Chaz and they have never dissapointed. Upscale place, classy, old school service. Worth the time and $.
P.S.> try the sunday culinary special in conjuction with staying sunday night at the Raphael. You will thank me for it!!!
We thoroughly enjoy dining here every time. The service is excellent and presentation is always beautiful. The menu changes occasionally but no matter what always offers a variety of items to suit any palate.
We went with friends. With the birthday free entree for both us and our friends it was quite a bargain for the quality of food. I love seafood, and am partial to tuna. This was the best seared tuna I've ever had, literally. Melted in my mouth. Extraordinarily tasty. Just excellent all around. The accompaniments were also good, and the portions were very adequate. The tuna made the experience.
Started with the soup of the day, root soup without the ham. I prefer, at fine restaurants, tasting something I can't get elsewhere. Both the soup and the entree fit that description, although most fine restaurants have seared tuna on the menu. We stayed for over 3 hours, enjoying the evening with friends for our mutual birthday celebration. We do it every year, often at a seafood restaurant, but we'll be back to Chaz next year as well.
Heart of Ribeye on creamy polenta with tuscan kale, do this.
We had always wanted to try this place because we heard it was “fancy.” The service was great but the food was meh. We had the Valentine’s Day price fix courses. Lobster bisque was great but ribeye special was not good at all. It was prepared like a pin-wheel which was interesting but the inside was cold and not flavorful at all. The chocolate Moulton cake didn’t “moult” and was dry. This is very much a been there done that place.
We came here for Valentines Day. My cap steak was only half edible. Most of it was fat and some very tough, leathery bits. I expect this quality from a chain restaurant, not a $175 meal.
The cake desert was okay.
The peach flavored Moscow Mule was outstanding.
Overall, very enjoyable. We just selected the wrong menu entre. It wasn’t what we were expecting.
Celebrating a special Valentine's Day together and thought it was perfect. The meal was beautifully prepared, the live music was lovely but not overpowering and the atmosphere and attention to detail absolutely perfect. Thank you!
We visited Chaz for Valentines Day. The staff was very accommodating as we had to move our reservation out twice that day due to conflicts. The food was amazing. We had the ribeye. So, tender that you could cut it with a fork! I mean literally. The music was perfect for the occasion and the sound level was such that you could enjoy a conversation from our table without having to shout. Great experience.
Such a cute place! I was a big fan of the live music.
A nice experience with my daughters for an early Valentine's Day brunch. Our meals were tasty, but not exceptional. One daughter got the bananas foster french toast and said it was good but very sweet and the maple/brown sugar flavors did not blend well. She liked it, but would not order again. I got the steak and eggs. The filet was cooked perfectly to medium rare and nicely seasoned, but the meat was a bit difficult to chew almost as if it had been cut incorrectly. My other daughter got the power breakfast and enjoyed all of it. Both she and I really liked the parmesan potato cakes. The coffee was delicious; strong with no bitterness and very full, rich flavor.
Service was adequate, but somewhat inattentive. Restaurant was not particularly busy at noon on a Sunday, however our server took quite a while to take our orders after getting our drinks. Then he did not return to top off our drinks at all and we did not get refills until another sever brought our meals.
While the entire experience was good, it was not as high a caliber as I had been expecting and hoping to have.
Overall this was a nice dinner, but pricey. The entrees were very tasty. However the salads were small, and one salad had a large proportion of Croutons.
Amazing food and exceptional staff. Made our evening out very special. Special thanks to David and his wonderful staff.
We had a very poor experience at Chaz. This was our 3rd time trying the restaurant within the last year and was disappointed once again. I requested the cap ribeye with potato’s. Both The ribeye and the potato’s were cold when served. The ribeye was pre sliced which I wouldn’t have ordered if I knew that in advance. This information was not on the menu dnd the server did not mention it. The other couple ordered filets and those were cold as well. We sent the food back and 2 people were finished with their dinner before thd rest of us received our reheated dinner. When paying higher end prices for dinner the service and food should be perfect, well presented and hot! I don’t want yo wat a reheated steak and definitely not card board potatos. We have dined at Chaz a lot over the years but due to our most recent experiences we will not return.
Enjoyed the delicious food and entertainment by The Cynthia VanRoden Trio . My only complaint is that I made my reservation through Open Table and the restaurant put me down as a “no show”. Now I’m not in good standing with Open Table. I gave my name upon arrival . It was verified then that I had a reservation.
A beautiful place with great food. The food is a little bit pricey but the overall experience is worth it and the service is amazing.
Took my wife there for her birthday. It was perfect. Waited a while for our food and didn't get the birthday cake we were expecting. But overall worth every penny
Expensive, food tended to be bland, but fantastic drinks at the bar.
Great. We enjoyed our experience.
Very disappointed. Steak menu item actually told you up front if you want a good steak have to pay $15 more. Steak tough and very grisly. Pork shank very good, but risotto very mushy, overcooked and flavorless. Potatoes with steak said 'herbs', saw green, but absolutely no flavor. Carrot cake excellent. Live music provided a nice ambiance. Service staff very attentive.
Enjoyed the atmosphere as well as the duo that played the soothing jazz tunes as we ate.
The live smooth Jazz was awesome. Very authentic. We were staying at the hotel. We went down for drinks one evening and had breakfast at Chaz one morning. Both times they had live
performers. The atmosphere was great and so was the food.
This was an outstanding evening celebrating a Birthday.
Chaz went above and beyond to make this a special evening.
Food and Service and Atmosphere were all exceptional!
Great restaurant! We tried out Chaz on the Plaza as part of Kansas City's 2018 Restaurant Week, and we were not disappointed. Friendly service, great food, good ambiance, plus live jazz music. Overall great experience. We will definitely be returning in the future to try out their brunch menu.
A small group of my friends and I visited Chaz for restaurant week. The portions were extremely small, as in maybe 6 pieces of lettuce for our "salad". I understand smaller portions for restaurant week but this was embarrassing. Our waiter was okay but seemed to do the bare minimum.
With that being said, the ambiance was amazing. Beautiful space and live music playing.
This was a restaurant week experience. The atmosphere was very nice. Wood paneling throughout, looks very comfortable and is quiet. Great place to have a fun conversation while dining. The desert was great although the main course (we both had pork shanks) was a little bland. Good enough to venture out and try again as we choose from the full menu.
Very over priced for the quality. The atmosphere is pretty cool but at the end of the day it's just a super dressed up hotel restaurant with unmemorable offerings
Excellent food and service. Always an enjoyable outing.
We were there for restaurant week for lunch. Delicious!
