   Our neighborhood gem. This visit was last Saturday night, when one mentally ill person started screaming at the top of her lungs and appeared disoriented. She was incoherently speaking and yelling. The police arrived, and, were very, very patient in escorting her out of the premises. Not one patron left because of this incident. The management worked hard not to incite her, it all was over in about 20 minutes. These are common incidents now a days. Will still keep coming to this outstanding restaurant.

   The Japanese inspired new menu offerings were a welcome change! The sushi and sashimi were fresh and delicious and the highlight of our meal was the 1.5 pound sea bream that came prepared half as sashimi (sweet and buttery texture) and the other half grilled to perfection! We also loved the tuna tartare on the crispy rice bed and the grilled octopus. The specialty seaweed salad was crunchy and fresh but definitely needed more dressing. All in all, a great dining experience and especially so when they treated the birthday guest in our party to a complimentary dessert!

   Choae Chaya for a biz dinner. A bit noisy for that and unfortunately the quieter booths were taken when we arrived. Service was good. Could have been more attentive after we paid the check as we stayed a while. Sushi was fresh. Portions a bit skimpy.

   Our neighborhood gem, great fresh fish, sashimi and sushi, and in a great ambiance! They have been changing the menu and getting it all figured out, the fish is always so fresh!! Keep coming back year after year!

   The food and ambiance are nice. The waiter was really slow and we kept having to ask the people who deliver the prepared food to the table if they could bring us things (silverware, plates) / get us our waiter so we could order more things. The drinks also took a very long time to come when we ordered them.

   We went here for a big dinner with our team from work, including some visitors from another [land-locked] office. Everyone really enjoyed the fresh seafood and fish, and the cocktails were fantastic! We are definitely planning to go there again (hopefully we'll get lucky and get another 3 pound sea bass -- it was very fresh and amazing!).

    V disappointed with the new Chaya ! The menu is limited, portion sizes are ridiculously small, the food was decidedly mediocre and incredibly expensive. Service was fine but not warm or personal. The Chaya Venice of old was streets ahead of this new iteration. I’ve been going there over 15 years but that was my last meal there. Change is not always good.
