It’s our go-to for the Music Center
Food is always outstanding
The sushi was great, especially the salmon and yellowtail sashimi. Didn't really try anything else.
Perfect pre-theatre dining. Convenient shuttle service to and from the venue. We had Calamari, Tuna Tar-tar, beet salad and the the Black Cod. Beautiful and delicious!
A coworker and I both became sick from the food we had.
A perfect place for a celebration. The food was fantastic and the service was great! The chef made a special treat for my friend after our server found out it was her Birthday. It was so special. I have already recommended this restaurant to my peers at work and my family.
Downtown LA is presently (September 2017) a disaster of ongoing construction, but it's worth enduring the ever-present traffic jams to relax over a meal at Chaya. Simply put, this is one of the city's best Asian restaurants, with a diverse menu of both small plates and entrees. The calamari is the best you'll have anywhere, sensationally but not spicily seasoned, and fried to a delicious crisp. The tuna California rolls are equally tasty, as are all of the fresh fish offerings. Service here is attuned to deadlines, with diners regularly shuttling to the Music Center for concerts, plays and the opera. Just plan to leave ample time for the transfer, as traffic (and shuttle drivers) can be unreliable.
I've been coming here for years and have always enjoyed the food and decor. However, what motivates me to write a review today is the restaurant's accommodation of a special request. I was meeting a friend who is somewhat soft-spoken, and the prior times we have met here for lunch, the ambient noise and the background music made conversation extremely difficult.
Today, I called the restaurant in advance to secure a quite table, and Harper at the front desk made sure that I had a quiet and comfortable spot. After scouting out a few spots, I decided on a table outside facing the plaza fountain. It was perfect. Kudos to the restaurant and to Harper providing the right setting for friend.
Chaya Downtown offers some of the most thoughtful service in Los Angeles. To a person, everyone is approachable, engaged in your experience and passionate about the food they serve. This includes the Executive Chef who took time to talk with us at length about the Chaya's seafood offerings and the techniques he used to bring out the flavors of the menu.
We are looking forward to going back to Chaya.
Always great. Always a bit unique.
Will the Waiter (server) great. We were his official first customers at this restaurant.
The staff at Chaya was so kind. Everyone went out of their way to make you feel welcome in a very genuine way. They really made our experience superb.
It was awesome!! great venue, the food was delicious and friendly staff.
We had wonderful service and all the food was excellent. The waiter was very attentive and answered all our questions and facilitated our getting to the theatre on time with the dessert to go!
Excellent quality and great staff. The place gets busy real fast during the weekday lunch hour rush. Reservations highly recommended.
Great service. Really enjoyed the whole fish for three. Quiet and able to talk with colleagues outside.
The food quality has gone way down from last year. My chicken was undercooked and had no flavor. My friends had salads that didn't taste good. We won't be returning.
