Chavez at the Market

Food was not as fresh or tasty as it was in the restaurant’s early days when the chef/owner was in the kitchen
We are huge fans of Chavez in Capitol Hill for it's great menu, nicely executed, and it's great cocktails. Unfortunately Chavez at the market doesn't have the same menu and what we had is by far less good than what is offered at the original location, and there is not even a cocktail menu.
We were really disappointed.
Service was friendly though.
Food was excellent portions small. Staff very friendly . Worth a visit for very fresh cuisine ❗️
We were there for a business lunch. The quality of the food was very, very good. However, the food portions were laughingly small. I am NOT a big eater - but the mini-food was really insufficient. For $30.00 (including the obligatory 20% service charge) we received 4 silver-dollar size tacos! Hardly enough for an appetizer. After quickly finishing our food (it was tough to linger with just a few bites on the plates) we went to another restaurant in the Market to get sandwiches for lunch. So yes, very good quality Mexican food - but bring lots of money if you want a decent sized lunch!
We tried every taco on the menu and loved them all! The guacamole was amazing and the queso fondido I would recommend.
Chavez on the hill has a bigger menu, this ended up being a bit more of a taco place and the food was good but not as good as CapHill location. Would love to see them open that up a bit. It would be the nicest Mexican place in the city if they did that
Having just relocated from Arizona (mecca of fantastic Latin/Mexican food), my expectations to find something in Seattle even remotely comparable, authentic, and delicious for that matter, were low. I tried two highly recommended places that, imo, completely fell short -but then I stumbled upon Chavez. They offer a small, but adventerous menu -and the taste was authentic! I am so happy to know that when I crave a taste of home, Chavez is here to itch the scratch. Kudos to the chef & staff for such a wonderful experience. I'll definitely be back. :)
This place is amazing!! The tacos are delicious and the people are super friendly!! Their salsa is by far the best salsa i have ever tried.
Delicious food and drinks, but very limited menu compared to their Capitol Hill location. The space was small, industrial, cold, and a bit cramped. But I don't like industrial decor or high-top tables, which was the only seating in the place (besides the bar). If you don't mind that set up, good space to meet up with friends for some great-tasting tacos and tortas.
Overall disappointing. We came home and made another dinner. It was very cold. We all ate dinner having to wear out coats.
The restaurant is so small that you're continually having to get up to allow others to pass through. The industrial look/feel just add to that level of discomfort. Who wants to dine at a restaurant and be interrupted by other patrons and wait staff asking you to stand up and push your chair in? My meal wasn't even room temperature but actually cold. So, I asked the server if she would heat it up. She did so but didn't warn me that the bowl was piping hot and I burned my fingers. A portion of my meal was bland and the other portion had an absolute excessive amount of salt. The portions are small and pricey, which I don't mind if the food is good.
It's tiny; seating is at the bar, on a counter looking out onto the street, or on communal tables. Very friendly, competent service. Food was excellent; do not miss the flan! One drawback: On a cold day, there's an arctic blast every time the door opens; you might want to take this into consideration when deciding where to sit.
We enjoyed this cozy (and by cozy I mean tiny) 2nd Chavez restaurant. They switched it up creating a more modern vibe, both with comfortable seating and music, and we loved it. The dim moody lighting warmed everything up. We dined here on a very cold night; the restaurant was quiet, though when the door opened, it created a good draft so plan on wearing your coat. But don't let that stop you from eating here. It is darling, with the same YUMMY Mexican food as the Cap Hill location. Let's start with the margaritas. Ohhh, YUM! The pomegranate margaritas were perfectly made, exactly as the CH location. The 4 of us shared the Queso Fundido with Chorizo but ask for more chips because we could always use a couple more. We love the tacos though we noticed they aren't serving all the variations yet as in Cap Hill. That is okay...what they offer is delish. What I LOVE about Chavez is they will always put a 4th taco on a plate. Don't you hate that when restaurants refuse to make it an even number for couples? Well, kudos to the chef/mgmt here! We heart you! After our beef and chicken tacos, we split the burrito and the chef cut it for us, (again so accommodating) into 4 pieces, to easily slide on our plates. We loved the caramelized onions inside and the lime crema on top. Can I talk about the service? Rashad was so friendly, so attentive, so accommodating, changing our plates out often (love that) and his service rounded out a wonderful experience. Chavez does a good job of hiring and training servers it seems. We finished it up with the Churros! 6 on a plate drizzled with chocolate so what's not to love. Check their website for garage parking. It is SO convenient. If I lived near here, I (we) would be weekly customers. Looking forward to eating here again.
Cute spot friendly staff. Guac was great. Tacos we're good, but not great. Especially at the price.
Atmosphere is casual and bustling. The space is very small. We really enjoyed our tacos! Service was excellent!
I was very pleased that I was able to make a reservation.
I had been before with coworkers and was very impressed with the service, atmosphere and quality of the food!
So I decided to take a date!
We were not disappointed!
Great job guys!
We will definitely be back again.
Lunch was good but average compared to the Cap Hill location where their food is outstanding!
The restaurant is very crowded and noisy. The tables are so close together that the wait staff couldn't get around the table. Drinks were good. Food was good quality but my beet salad was just a bowl of chopped beets with some citrus dressing. This place is a good bar, but I wouldn't go here again with a group for dinner.
