Hanare specializes in traditional Japanese food; focused on Kaiseki (our 6 course tasting). With its origins in Zen Buddhism, kaiseki is an art form that balances taste, texture, appearance and colors of food. The ingredients are strictly based on seasonality and each course in served in very specific order, priming the body and palate; beginning with delicate starters and ending with hearty, comfort foods.

By far my favorite Japanese restaurant in LA. Food and service are excellent!
Great exclusive experience of japanese gourmet cuisine. Staff was a delight, full of attention and kindness.
The exquisite menu offers Kaiseki dining and a la carte dishes featuring home made Tofu and an extensive Sake menu.
Since all of our choices were vegan this reviewer can only comment on their vegetable dishes;
Though beautiful presentation, , the dishes were a tad too precious for the casual nature of the setting.
Outdoor dining was way too dark and under lighted making it nearly impossible to see the very petite dishes.
The seats and tables too far low for any leg room comfort, they were suited more for a Bar's seating.
Being 5'4" I cant imagine anyone taller able to sit comfortably. This discomfort was annoying and is inconsistent to such an elevated menu.
The flavors of each dishe were delicate and very was good, yet over priced for the casual outdoor seating. Our Main server was knowledgeable, yet lacked the forthcoming kindness one expects from such a fine dining establishment in LA. The Bus -servers were very kind and eager to please.
Valet parking was $24.00 before tip.
Was ok. Food was decent, but didn’t blow me away. I’ve had better black miso cod is a cheap sushi joint. $20 for a cocktail is pretty steep & $9 per flat water of Evian is outrageous. It’s doesn’t make sense. I don’t mind paying when it’s worth it.
I don’t think they read my reservation note requests from the app nor reserved a table upon arrival, it was more like first come first serve. They weren’t attentive in the beginning but gradually worked better more into dinner.
Delicious, but pricey for what it is. I went for Dine LA with my partner, and the service was excellent, and the food was good (honestly the tofu was the best part by far). I still prefer Shunka when I have the time to drive and I think it's a much better value.
Fantastic food, lovely staff and beautiful place. Worth the $$$$!
Trying the dine LA menu for tonight. From the starter to desert, everything is super good! We paid extra for the wagyu beef, it is a little bit too much for two ppl.
I didn't expect, but the food is very authentic and I've enjoyed. Tanabata Festival was very nice touch.
Service and Food was outstanding! Beautiful place in the middle of Hollywood.
Dine LA week just started, so I wanted to try it out, after hearing Martha Stewart had dined here in December. The staff are extremely nice and I think we had about six people waiting on us throughout dinner. Apparently, there is a sister restaurant in New York, so I'll have to pay it a visit. If you decide to dine here, you must try the soft tofu. Also, try the sushi and tempura, which was the best I've had in LA.
Beautiful presentation with every dish but fairly expensive for the portion size. A must try though!
Great food, great setting, and great service. Will definitely return!
A definite hidden gem just off Sunset! The interior transports you to Tokyo and the outdoor patio is peaceful and calm with heat lamps galore. They boast an incredibly creative menu, an expansive list of sake and liquor (from Japan and around the world), as well as a solid wine list. Whether you’re here for dinner or cocktails/sake/wine, you’ll love this place!
We enjoyed the Kaiseki for 2 ppl on the terrace. All plates were exceptional. The only let-down was the dessert (ice cream, foam, cherries in juice) as it could have been more inspired and oriental in interpretation. Overall though the meal was fantastic, with unique flavours and textures.
This is a wonderful restaurant. The attention to detail and professional staff is exquisite but best is the food you are transported to a Japan no one knows. I love this place
This is one of the most elegant and stunning locations. The food is exceptional! You can't miss this place.
Delicious food - wonderful hospitality and service.
Pretty spot. Unfortunately the food just completely sucks.
The location is beautiful. That's the best part. We must have ordered the wrong thing. Everything we ordered did not taste good except for my drink which was good. Very disappointed.
Great food and service with a friendly welcome.
The service and the food was outstanding. The detail the chef infused into each course was superb. We were there for an anniversary which the staff help make special for us.
Food and staff were amazing. They moved my party to a private room when the dining room became too busy. The room was nice and quiet and we could enjoy each other's company more intimately and hear each other speak. The staff were very nice and answered our questions and requests with no issues. The food was also amzing but the drinks were the best part for my party. Different drinks for everyone and all of it was very good. The desserts were an okay part of the meal, but the other menu items were quite good, especially the Salmon Kama and the Sashimi! Overall, I would come back again for other special occasions.
Delicious food, wonderful service in a beautiful setting. I cannot wait to go back.
The food is delicious. The atmosphere is pretty and gracious. Very kind thorough service. It’s perfect.
The most beautiful outdoor patio. This is a Hollywood gem. Food is excellent & fairly priced. It’s quiet outside and moderate inside. I can’t wait to bring friends back here.
totally over priced. 550 dollars before tax for three people, and the food is worse than the sushi from supermarket.
best experience and food .
My favorite Japaneese restaurant in Los Angeles.
Friendly staff .
So great every time! Thank you so much for a wonderful evening, we will surely be coming back again and again!
Excellent food which says a lot given how many nice spots there are in LA
Outstanding experience! If you are looking for a modern Japanese fine dining, this is it!
Enteees are weird and they are all dressed up with sauces and garnishes in an attempt to cover up the horrible food. Prices are way over what they should be and leaves you feeling like you’ve been taken advantage of.
We had a great evening. Excellent food, best homemade tofu ever, great fish and salads, Japanese steak was outstanding. Excellent service and Sake recommendations. I definitely come again whenever visiting LA! Keep up doing this great work!
Such an incredible restaurant, everything is beautiful and clean, the whole dining experience is impeccable. The house made tofu is incredible, highly recommend you have.
It was my birthday dinner and I invite seven people as my guest. I talk to restaurant couple times just to be sure for everything to go perfect. They told me that they have little birthday cake that they serve complimentary with a little music box so they will do little ceremony for the birthday girl. Thats why i didn’t buy birthday cake for myself. But They didn’t do any birthday celebration at the end of the dinner nothing at all. Service was extremely slow. All night long we were trying to find a waiter to help us to bring something. I ask for regularTapwater but I didn’t notice they serve bottled water all night long and I pay almost $60 for water which I didn’t even ask. It was disaster night my birthday celebration end up paying like almost $700 bill and having a nightmare and I didn’t even have a birthday cake or birthday candle to blow off.
Simply - Magic!!! I was transported to Imperial Style of Japanese Hospitality. Best Japanese Restaurant I experienced in US.
Every dish I had was amazing. WOWOWOWOWOWOWOW. The Udon is cheap but tastes like a bajillion(?) bucks.
