My girlfriend and I had Valentine's Day reservations at 6PM. We showed up at 5:57PM and the front door was locked so we walked around and found another entrance to the patio. We asked a staff member where the front desk was and he said they weren't open yet but we could wait outside- it was raining and 50 degrees... so instead we found the front desk and they seated us. They clearly were unprepared to be open; the restaurant was freezing, staff was rushing to set the restaurant up and I heard the manager yell, "DID ANYONE REMEMBER TO OPEN THE FRONT DOOR?!"

The decor was beautiful and despite the cold, the ambience was inviting.

The food left much to be desired. We ordered their pre-set Valentine's Day menu which took over two hours to complete, and not because it was so much food or we were savoring each bite, but because they waited so long between courses (I'm not sure if this was due to service or kitchen). One of the dishes was missing a sashimi item, not that we minded too much because the sashimi tasted rather...fishy? Most of the dishes were lacking in flavor, however, the steak dish was quite delicious. The lobster dish came out in a shabu shabu setup, displayed with whole raw lobster shells. My girlfriend excitedly asked, "Ooooh, what do we do?" and the food expediter strangely scolded her saying, "Be patient- I'll explain it." It was weird.

When the bill arrived I almost choked on my red velvet cake- the total was almost $700! They had rang our prefixed order in twice...

Besides the timing issues, strange scolding, and near highway robbery, service was great- honestly. They were very nice and efficient.

Overall, we were both massively disappointed. In LA, there are many sushi restaurants, I'd recommend skipping this one. There are many fish in the sea.

Nice ambiance, staff very welcoming, service friendly even if a bit on the rush side. We were asked too many times if we had finished when we were still working on our dishes. But the restaurant is very pleasant, lots of people, music, nice decoration,... looks like a place to be seen !! We give only 3 stars because even if the food is ok we feel it a bit overpriced. We had 2 tasting menus one normal and one vegetarian. It is mainly the vegetarian menu that is not worth the money. Portions are too big, lacking sophistication : tofu is very good with truffles and soya sauce but the piece in the plate is too big, beets pieces are too big also, almost impossible to put in your mouth, vegetables with tempura are too fried, mushrooms are spongy. For the other menu, cod is excellent, wagyu is ok but the raw fish on rice comes with the same sesame sauce a s the 1st apetizer and would be far better with a lighter and citrusy or yuzu sauce. Desserts were good but not amazing. Bill for 2 people 350$ including 4 glasses French white wine .

We arrived on time and were seated; but, we were asked to move so that they could combine two tables for a 4 top. We moved at their request. The server explained the pre fix and we decided a la carte. We gave the server our wine choices and he gave us time to decide on our menu choices. The support staff did a great job of keeping water glasses filled throughout the night. The server returned and we made our food selections. A couple sat down beside us to begin their experience and the same server explained the pre fix and the ordered their drinks. We inquired about our wine as we still hadn’t received it. But, immediately, within 3 minutes, the couple next to us received their drinks. Three courses later, our wine finally arrived. The server said that one glass was on him. Then he proceeded to insult us by saying that he asked the bartender to overpour the glass. It was not an overpour and just ridiculous and rude for him to treat us that way. I don’t make scenes but maybe I should have let him know it wasnt appreciated. The food was delicious throughout the night. But, let us slow down, eat it and enjoy it. Several different staff persons tried to whisk the unfinished plate of food away without a word. We are paying for it; let us eat every delicious bite. My date stopped the staff person, and he rudely stood there expecting us to eat it at that moment. He said waste not want not. Well, do I really have to put my verbal boxing gloves on to come to the restaurant and be that verbally active and control every moment to have a great dining experience?

El lugar es bonito, la terraza y el cuarto principal, buena carta de vinos. La comida me quedó a deber, pedí una sopa mis sencilla, el pollo frito (especialidad de la casa) y no me encantó, la ensalada de tomates y burrada y el rollo de carne de cangrejo. Por todo fueron $160, comimos dos personas con una cerveza cada quien. Si quieres rollos de sushi, te recomiendo que no vayas a este lugar solo tienen 4/5 diferentes rollos. El lugar es bueno más no el mejor.

Chateau is nice but for the price and value, you may as well go elsewhere. Prices were a bit up there: $22 for a roll. The ambience was a bit off too as they were playing a random weird assortment of music that I wouldn't think was suitable for a sushi place. The place was essentially dead on a Tuesday night, which I imagine says something about it. Our server was great though, loved her.

This is the real deal...Chateau Hanare is like walking into a great restaurant in Japan...you won’t find any California rolls or spicy tuna anything here...fabulous tasting menu that comes with a card describing everything you’re eating and they have flights of sake!...they even have a sake expert on site to help you if you need help...great full bar...lots of whiskey options...service is on point...attentive without being cloying...I highly recommend this place...as we were walking out we were discussing when we were coming back and how big of a table we were going to need!

My boyfriend had wanted to come here since they opened but I am much more of a meat and potatoes guy so wasn't really interested however he convinced me to celebrate our anniversary there. I am so glad he did! Between the beauty of the space and the unfamiliarity of the menu I was pretty intimidated, however, my tensions quickly disappeared. From the second you walk in the pretty hostess and Maitre d were nothing but smiles and very engaging. We decided to come a little early to have a drink at the bar which was a little crowded but the bartenders were so very nice and took the time to give me a big education on their huge collection of Japanese Whiskeys along with tastings. The hostess even checked up on us a couple times to make sure we were okay. Once we were seated our server was phenomenal. Given it was a Friday night and was really busy she took the time to explain all the menu items and guide us though our entire meal. Every member of staff was ridiculously nice and well informed, even the people who brought the food described every component and how to eat. The staff all seemed really happy and genuinely wanting to be there. Given my initial fears the food was amazing. That was the best steak I ever had and I didn't miss the potatoes. They even sent us out a special desert that came with a little Japanese music box and the manager came by to wish us a happy anniversary and thank us for choosing to celebrate the occasion with them. Just goes to show you that saying "don't judge a book by its cover" is true even when it comes to restaurants. Thank you Hanare for making us feel so special on our anniversary and cant wait to bring my "meat and potato" friends!

This was my second visit; I had come a couple weeks ago when I was in town. You would have thought I was at a high school reunion, with everyone welcoming me back. They even remembered the sake I had the last time but couldn't remember. This time we ordered off the menu and ate family style and I can truly say everything was truly five star. This has become my favorite restaurant and already looking forward to my next visit to the west coast to come back

I was solo for New Years Eve and was looking forward to going to enjoying a nice dinner out, especially since Chateau Hanare was offering a vegan menu. The restaurant had a nice atmosphere, albeit a bit cramped. I was disappointed when I arrived on time yet my table wasn’t ready, and wasn’t ready for 45 MINUTES. I waited outside (it was quite cold but I did choose to wait outside since it was very crowded inside). The food was decent, though in my opinion very overpriced. I was also asked to move in the middle of my meal to accommodate another party. It wasn’t a huge inconvenience, but I was told a cocktail would be on the house, though when I got my bill I realized it wasn’t, and I didn’t feel like bringing it up at that point, I just wanted to leave. The cost of dining there was a big deal to me, and it was not worth it unfortunately. Utterly disappointed and a bad way to end my year and bring in the new year.

WOW!!!! I am not one to typically write reviews ,however, was so blown away by this new gem when visiting West Hollywood that I felt transported to Kyoto. From the second you enter the private garden in the front you forget that you are a stone's throw from the bustle of Sunset Blvd. The entire staff was extremely friendly and warm and all seemed to enjoy being there. I didn't recognize some of the menu items and was feeling adventurous so my server suggested there version of the chef's tasting; forgot the name. Every course was more mind-blowing than the next and completely complimented each other. I also had the sake pairing which was the perfect addition. Went on a double date which was fun but would be great couple place. There was also a private dining room in the back that from the sounds of it were having a blast. Truly one of the most memorable dining experiences I've had in ages that made me sad I moved to New York but heard their first location is the west village so can't wait to check it out; cant recommend enough...

Beautiful restaurant. Felt like I was in japan. The food presentation was creative and delicious. Owner came to our table and was very gracious. Highly recommend to those who appreciate fine dinning in a beautiful setting.
