Meet us on the rooftop for another season atop Chicago’s stunning skyline at Château Carbide, a French-inspired cocktail lounge where hotel guests and locals alike can take in the city’s summer splendor with crisp Möet & Chandon, icy signature cocktails, a spring menu of small bites and favorites, live DJs every weekend, and views…forever.

The food and cocktails were great. The service and ambiance was what made this place mid. Everyone on service seemed not approachable, did not seem to be wanting to be there, and it was hard to flag anyone down for just an extra copy of the menu. Felt almost unwelcome almost.

$20 espresso martini in a plastic cup. Spoiled, stale popcorn and olives. Dirty water cups and container. Really bad, obnoxiously loud music. Acceptable service.

I called ahead to add a chair to my reservation and specifically asked if this would be possible while keeping our outdoor seating. I was told multiple times that this was fine. However, when we arrived, we were moved indoors without any notice or explanation. This was not acceptable, especially after I clearly emphasized the need for outdoor seating during the call.

Disappointing experience overall. I mistakenly thought all (or most) tables would be outside. Most are inside and it's only tables for two or four outside. We were a party of eight. The first seating we were offered was on couches, next to the open kitchen, with music blasting like a nightclub. We requested different seating. After learning outdoor seating wasn't an option, we were seated at two high top tables next to the patio, which was quieter and more aesthetic. The service was incredibly slow. We ordered a round of drinks and one of every appetizer (which is the entire menu). The drinks arrived sporadically over about a 30 minute period. Getting a second round was almost impossible, despite repeated requests. Some people got a second round and some didn't. We finally asked the person bringing the food - who was not our server - for soft drinks. He brought warm cans of soda with no ice. I suspect because the 20% gratuity was automatically added to our bill due to the size of the party, that the smaller parties outside received more attentive service. Our server apologized for the "sporadic service" by saying they were down two servers that night. The food was okay. It was about $56 a person with gratuity. If you're staying in the hotel or happen to be nearby and are a small party, it might be worth a visit. I wouldn't make a special trip to come here.

Would give 0 if I could simply for the terrible service. A random Red Robin at a truck stop in the middle of nowhere would have a done a better job. It took them 1.5hrs to bring us out a veggie flat bread. Mind you, we ordered 4 things - 2 drinks and 2 food items; and it was not busy whatsoever. It wouldn’t have been so bad had our waitress admitted she forgot to put the flatbread order in and tried to play it off as if it’s the kitchen’s fault it’s taking so long. She brought us the wrong item instead of just asking which one it was. So here we are 1.5hrs later, my date has not had anything to eat because she’s vegetarian, and we finally get our lousy flat bread. We asked for it to-go because we were over this place. To make matters worse it took them approx 25 min MORE to bring us a box. Will never be returning here again. This is the PENDRY hotel for fu*ks sake. You’d expect some better service but no. 0/10 - save your breath and your $$.

Standard seating section was forgotten, they didn’t have cups for water. 40 minutes to get the check, food and service was subpar. Would not recommend.

Service for drinks took soooo long. We ordered glasses of wine when they brought out meals but service was so slow that they then brought the wine after we’d already finished our meal! Music was very loud which was surprising as I thought it was meant to be a stylish place.
