Great food, excellent service, beautiful decor. Will definitely return.
Wednesday evening visit, told that they were out of many items on the menu. No mangos, although there was a Mango Margareta on the menu, many of the wines were out and we got the last to glasses of sparkling Rose. The food was okay but nothing special. I am consider returning in the future but not right away.
First time and will not be our last
A very good Thai restaurant with good food at reasonable prices. The only problem for me and the people who had dinner with us was the lively bar scene which made the restaurant too noisy (or energetic) for us. It's the only reason we would hesitate to go back.
Great food n drinks. Friendly staff.
This place is a gem. Beautiful food and excellent service. From beginning to end. We had Thaijitos, crispy pouch with pumpkin and potato,,ribs, pork belly and dragon fruit rice pudding.
Great find. Head to Chatayee Thai before it gets overcrowded like the rest of the great restaurants in Philadelphia! Service was outstanding, reasonable prices, cocktail selection was great, the food was authentic, and the decor/ambience etc. is really nice especially in comparison to other Thai restaurants in the city.
Went with a group of five, and everyone very much enjoyed the food and ambiance!
This is the best Thai food in the city hands down
The evening was pleasant, and I would have given it more stars if a) it were not freezing and the air wasn’t blowing directly on us and b) my food didn’t taste charred. Pluses: The chef came out when I asked if duck could be prepared in a way that was not on the menu. She was happy to give us options and oblige. That dish was good. I ordered pad see ew and it had a burnt flavor as though a previous fish cooked in the pan was burned. Appetizers (chicken satay and papaya salad) were great. The wait staff was adequate, but perhaps they were more pre-occupied with what looked like a private family party toward the back of the restaurant.
Good Thai food. If you go, be careful with the spice levels... I'm usually fine with "hot” (but not "Thai Hot"). I was there previously for lunch and ordered the same salad both times; for lunch I asked for "hot", and it was the perfect level of seasoning. At dinner, I asked for "hot” and it was just short of painful. Same thing for the Tom Yum soup; my husband asked for "medium", and it was too spicy for him; when I tasted it, it was too hot for me, although at lunch, the level of spice in the Tom Yum "hot” was perfect.
Great bar area. Comfortable and fun setting. We love the food. Even our foodie friends who are very hard to please loved the food. Great vegan menu also. We will be back.
Really good Thai food in center city. Can actually make food spicy when you tell them to!
A pretty restaurant with good food and nice service. The Thai food was well spiced which was appreciated.
Just decent. Nothing special at all. No reason to go there unless you need a meal in that neighborhood - it's close to the Kimmel Center.
Love this restaurant. Everything on the menu is fresh and super flavorful. It definitely beats your run-of-the-mill takeout Thai. I highly recommend the papaya salad and any of their curries. If your up for the spice, ask for it Thai Spicy!!
Great number of vegan options
Ambiance is nice, well decorated
Very accommodating staff
I was in Philadelphia for a meeting. The food was great and price was reasonable. Would highly recommend if your in Philly and are looking for good Thai food.
The food and service were outstanding. My niece and I were seated right next to the window which was really nice. Great ambiance too.
Excellent Thai food in a convenient Center City location. Pleasant staff. We were there early before a concert at the Kimmel so the restaurant was not full enough to determine noise level.
Went here for an informal business meeting and was pleasantly surprised. The restaurant was not too crowded and quiet enough for conversation. Plus the food was amazing!
It was great - the food was superb!
My wife and I both felt that the restaurant was decorated nice with an authentic feel. Our waiter, Min, was great; he helped us to navigate both the vegetarian and standard menus and we were pleased with our service too. He was also wise enough to move us to a larger table and we ordered our 2 people four entree feast. You can choose your heat level depending on how spicy you would like your food from 1-4, although I wanted 4(spiciest), we chose 2 and 3 because we were sharing and my wife whom is less of fan of the heat was fine with these levels which also made the dishes more flavorful I felt. We ate a large variety from the menu including the spring rolls and cauliflower satay and enjoyed the sauces especially the one for the satay. For dinner we had the scallops, short rib, and pork from the standard entree menu and a vegetable entree from the vegetarian menu and they were all delicious with lots of flavors. With two apps, 4 glasses of wine, and four entrees, our bill was $156 which to me is very reasonable for all we drank and ate with the quality of service, food, and decor of the restaurant. Overall, we enjoyed our experience and would definitely return.
A wonderful and affordable restaurant with an excellent vegan menu.
I was very excited to visit Chatayee Thai because we finally a semi-upscale Thai restaurant plus they have a vegan friendly menu. Unfortunately I was extremely disappointed. The food was absolutely tasteless. It felt like all the dishes had exactly the same taste and were simply tossed with soy sauce. Two of our dishes didn't even have enough sauce, leaving the noodles white and plain. To make the situation worse, the waiter wasn't attentive and when we let him know about the taste of the food he said, "well I am just the waiter, I am not the chef". The price point is higher than a lot of the neighboring Thai places and the flavor fell very short. I hope this improves fast because the ambiance looked promising.
The food was okay but service was very slow. We waited for over and hour for our entrees.
Surprised that this restaurant isn't busier given the high reviews. There was only one other table seated, so very quiet. Service thus was prompt. Drinks were very average. Food was good, but as noted not that spicy. Portions ok.
The food was very nice, though they seemed to hold back a bit on the spices. The service, particularly "Kim" was exceptional. It is an attractive place, and the noise level is low enough to make conversation pleasant. We will return .
The food was good, the place is nice but the service both at the bar and from the kitchen was way too slow on a Saturday night especially when the place wasn’t overly crowded.
Came for an anniversary date. Service and ambiance were great. Food was outstanding. Waitress made great recommendations throughout the evening. Def worth the visit
All in all a wonderful first time at Chatayee Thai. Food was excellent and beautifully presented.
Service was good, and, and most important, the noise level was low. We could talk! Thank you.
Food was extremely delicious and service was outstanding.
Noise level was low inspite of adequate crowd purely due to good spacious layout of the restaurant.
All in all it was perfect for 3 of us for early dinner.
excellent, the soups were so delicious and the specialty drinks we different and tasty
Happy hour. I hate noisy but it was too empty and too quiet. I hope more people discover this yummy restaurant.
Excellent dishes served with style. Great consideration taken into providing authentic cuisine while also humoring the American palate (one can get mild, spicy, or Thai spicy when ordering). An exquisite combination of flavors, smells, & ambiance provides for a very special dinning experience.
When other places had hours to wait on the evening of the flower show this place had plenty of room. Service was attentive a friendly. Food was excellent and a good value. The noise level was minimum and we were able to converse even when the restaurant became more crowded.
Service suffered a bit at the end, but our waitstaff had a table of 16 and the manager really should have jumped in sooner.
We saw this restaurant featured on television and decided to try it on our way to the airport. Everything was very good from start to finish with one exception. We ordered the papaya salad at #2 for heat in spice. It was delivered at a #4 and I made the mistake of eating it. Tears came from our eyes and my lips burned and quivered. It was so hot. The waiter saw we were having trouble with it. They later told us it was made too hot at #4. We quickly drank our ice tea to try to wash the heat away. It would have been nice for the restaurant to provide two additional ice teas to us on them because of their mistake. We ordered two more teas and were charged $5 a piece. This would have gone a long way from a service perspective and would have been the right thing to do. The hostess kept asking the waiter if there was anything he could give us to help get rid of the heat and taste. I guess something as simple as our next iced tea was overlooked.
Both the food and service were very good. I read the reviews prior to going but took a chance anyway; valentines must have just been a fluke, the restaurant was MUCH better than those reviews are staying, both food and service.
My friend and I got to Chatayee just in time for the last 30 min of happy hour. The drinks and appetizers were a great value and delicious. We ordered the shrimp spring rolls and chicken satay to start. We both got the red curry entree which did not have much flavor except for the level of spice. The portion was also on the smaller side. I would go again for happy hour but probably not for dinner.
I saw this restaurant on 6abc FYI Philly and just had to try it. The food was hot, fresh and delicious. Presentation was wonderful. Ambience was quiet & relaxed. Bartender(Lou I think) is a real bartender...perfect for 4 this type of restaurant. Professional and was able to make a good drink based off of my taste. Will definitely b back.
