Very good meal and good service. Vegan Tom Kha soup with tofu was fresh and delicious. Beef salad was awesome and huge. Vegan Pad Thai was also very good and large. Had to bring leftovers home. Excellent food for a moderate price.
This was my first visit, and I will be back!
This reincarnation of the restaurant has se of the best food I have had I'm the city.
Chefs Tommy and Venus have made their mark.
With fresh meats and vegetables, this food is light and refreshing.
I enjoyed the chicken satay skewers with cucumber salad as well as the chicken pad thai.
These dishes were not ladened with heavy sauces but instead were served with a light kiss of dressings full of flavor.
I'd recommend both dishes with 5 stars.
I will be back again to try more options from both the vegan and non-vegan menus.
Lastly, the service was incredible!
From the time I entered to the time I left, I was treated like a VIP!
Peter my bartender made suggestions for my meal, and he hit the nail on the head.
I left belly full, and very happy.
We had the most magnificent dinner! Love the VEGAN menu! Incredible food! Loved every bite! Even tried a new taste of something coming in the future! A delightful grilled thin tofu in a peanut sauce that was incredible! This time we also had the cucumber ginger mint lemonade which was phenomenal, and the dessert of sweet potato and pumpkin with coconut and strawberry... We each ordered the two favorites, the green papaya salad, and the coconut milk Galangal lemongrass soup. Because I’m allergic to peppers I ask for no peppers and more mushrooms instead of tofu and it is absolutely the most incredible thing I’ve ever had! This time we also tried the Bangkok style green curry, squash, asparagus, string beans, and we skipped the bell pepper, pumpkin, purple potatoes, tofu and basil, which was topped with the most incredible radish flower I have ever seen! Gorgeous, nutritious, and delicious! Thank you so much, lovely, Chef Chatayee! So Fabulous! The ingredients are so fresh! We LOVED IT!!
We had the most incredibly delicious and nutritious vegan Thai food in Philadelphia! The best coconut soup we have ever had at ANY Thai or Vietnamese restaurant EVER!!! They have a whole separate vegan menu! We were absolutely THRILLED! Only the BEST ingredients! We were greeted by A lovely co-owner, named Joanne, who made the best suggestions for us! That incredibly heavenly coconut soup came out with the chef herself,Chatayee... named after the restaurant! Had the strawberry basil mint, homemade fresh-squeezed lemonade! Absolutely fantastic! For appetizers we had the autumn roll, which was root vegetables, cabbage mushrooms, and a sweet chili mango sauce, and then the Thong Tong, which was a super crispy pouch of pumpkin and potato roasted in a mild curry coconut basil aioli. For salads, we had the Somtam, A traditional green papaya salad with Thai chili dressing, tomato and fresh lime juice palm sugar and crushed peanuts. It reminds us of a cabbage salad that we used to have years ago and LOVED! This one, tasted even FRESHER!! The second salad that we had was the mixed wild mushroom medley which was also very delicious. It was called Larb Hed, Which was a trumpet, wood ear, oyster, shiitake mushrooms, roasted rice, Thai chili and onion, chopped romaine, cilantro, citrus, and lemon grass, salad.
We both chose to have the Tom Kha Tofu soup, but asked for extra mushrooms and no tofu or chili peppers. It was the most perfect coconut milk, Galangal, lemon grass, broth, with mushrooms, cabbage, carrots, and a touch of Thai chili oil, that we have EVER had!! We were extremely pleased and can’t wait to return, to try other new things on this menu!! Thank YOU, we’re healthy, nutritious, and absolutely delicious, vegan Thai food, the BEST in the entire city!!😇🙏👍🏆✨
Fantastic flavors, wonderful service, interesting décor, and sufficiently quiet for conversation. Located in the heart of Center City, only a block or two from major theaters, and concert venues. We'll be back!
We came here for dinner on a Saturday night. The place is beautiful and spacious. We ordered tom yum soup, which was great. We also had pad kee mao and chicken red curry, of which we did not enjoy very much. The pad kee mao did not have any flavor whatsoever and the curry was a little too thick with the coconut milk. Although we did not really enjoy our main courses, we did enjoy the ambiance and customer service. We may come back to try the other items on the menu.
This was my husband and I second time there. It was his birthday and what a wonderful way to spend it at Chatayee with delicious Thai food.
I came here for restaurant week and had a great experience. 4 course meal for $35 is hard to beat. I enjoyed all my dishes and had a good chili lime margarita.
Took way too long to get our food and wasn't ultimately worth the wait.
Food was EXCELLENT. The service was very slow but it could have been because it was restaurant week.
My food was outstanding I usually eat pad Thai, but asked my server for suggestions off the vegan menu. She recommended an appetizer, soup, and entree that were excellent. I can’t wait to go back and try more of their vegan options.
The staff was friendly. The food was timely, delicious and a great portion size (enough to have leftovers). The pricing was very reasonable. It’s also a large space compared to many center city restaurants. I did not try out the drink menu do TBD. I will return for sure.
Very good food and atmosphere
Attentive staff. Diverse menu with excellent vegan options. Ambiance nice. Cozy and quiet.
It was restaurant week and they had an option for a set menu. Several in our group selected that option and the food was excellent. They had many choices that were a bit different take on your "standard" Thai restaurant. Would definitely go back next time in Phili.
The food was amazing and the staff was so pleasant. I had an all around great experience.
The food and service were both exceptional!
Having been in Thailand for a month in February I was looking for an authentic Thai dining experience and this restaurant was wonderful!!
I went on a Sunday night, it was pretty dead. Took a bit for service past getting water, but everyone was lovely. They have a great vegan menu with delicious options. The meal portions are pretty American (big) and they have a great wine menu. I'd like to go again.
Very delicious! We had the salmon, pad Thai, and short ribs in Panang. Prices are a little higher than a typical Thai place, but the quality of the dishes makes up for it!
Great place - wonderful food, attentive servers, and a tremendous value. Good for vegans.
Great food! Service wasn't the greatest, but hopefully it was just a one-off. I would go back.
Great modern Thai food in a nice setting. Spacious dinner room, interesting cocktails and friendly service. Will definitely by back. Great to have good Thai food in Philly
Wonderful ambience and great art work, excellent staff, delicious cuisine with just the right spice levels you request. Excellent for dining on special occasions.
Enjoyed ourselves. Apps and entree arrived at same time and it was a little loud
Lovely dinner at Chatayee Thai. We started with Tom Yum & Tom Klong Hou Pre soups. Both were excellent. Main courses of Shrimp Pad Thai & Massaman Chicken (a special that night). We each enjoyed our entrees very much. Tasty & spiced to our request. Portions were generous, we each took some of our entrees home.
The service was great. The room is lovely, we sat by the front windows. We were having an early dinner, so it wasn’t too crowded, thus not at all noisy. Not sure what the noise level would be with a crowded room.
Prices were very reasonable.
We will happily return to Chatayee Thai.
After a long day, I just stopped in to satisfy my Thai craving. I had the Tom Kha soup, which was creamiest one I have ever had! Delicious! Also had the Red Curry chicken with roti on the side. My mouth was on fire, but in a good way! Lowell, the bartender was amazing! Great recommendations and conversation. I will be back!
Our party had some native Thai speakers, and the staff and owner were extremely helpful, attentive, and able to communicate well in Thai. We felt extremely well treated and loved the food!
Food was very fresh. Unfortunately there was no seasoning. You can't serve 2 masters. If you are a Thai restaurant use Thai seasonin!
After walking by this restaurant and seeing that they had a specifically vegan/vegetarian menu- I knew we should definitely check it out at some point. So a friend and I went this past Wednesday evening. The space is huge and it was very quiet inside, although perhaps could have been a bit cooler. Our food was good and I would recommend going back fro the food, or maybe trying takeout- but the service was just fair. The waiter often didn't seem want to actually talk about or really know what was in certain food items if asked, they were lax in filling water glasses and given the heat and that it wasn't particularly crowded, this is just lack of attention. I ordered brown rice, and when they brought out white rice and I sent it back and asked for brown again, they seemed irritated about it. So overall decent thai and nice to have a vegan menu, but their service and attitudes could use some improvement.
Friday we had a yen for Thai food. We had tried to book a table at several highly rated Thai restaurants but they had no tables available at the time we wanted so we ended up at Chatayee Thai. The restaurant is located down town close to a lot of other eateries - all of which were filled to the brim - so we were surprised that Chatayee was quite empty when we got there (around 7pm). The food and experience was a pleasant surprise and we would highly recommend it. To start of friendly and gracious service where the waiter objectively shared with us what was good on the menu and what to avoid. Good drinks to start off with including beers and wines that complement the food. The three of us had appetizers, including an outstanding Papaya Salad - fixed with just the right level of spiciness. For main courses the curries is just we were looking for - all three tasty and authentic - one with salmon, the other two with duck and a pork shank - tasty and well presented. To top it off dessert of sticky black rise. We would go again!
Great food, excellent service, beautiful decor. Will definitely return.
Wednesday evening visit, told that they were out of many items on the menu. No mangos, although there was a Mango Margareta on the menu, many of the wines were out and we got the last to glasses of sparkling Rose. The food was okay but nothing special. I am consider returning in the future but not right away.
First time and will not be our last
A very good Thai restaurant with good food at reasonable prices. The only problem for me and the people who had dinner with us was the lively bar scene which made the restaurant too noisy (or energetic) for us. It's the only reason we would hesitate to go back.
Great food n drinks. Friendly staff.
This place is a gem. Beautiful food and excellent service. From beginning to end. We had Thaijitos, crispy pouch with pumpkin and potato,,ribs, pork belly and dragon fruit rice pudding.
Great find. Head to Chatayee Thai before it gets overcrowded like the rest of the great restaurants in Philadelphia! Service was outstanding, reasonable prices, cocktail selection was great, the food was authentic, and the decor/ambience etc. is really nice especially in comparison to other Thai restaurants in the city.
Went with a group of five, and everyone very much enjoyed the food and ambiance!
This is the best Thai food in the city hands down
