Chartier is a rustic, French-Canadian restaurant located in the heart of Beaumont, AB. The menu, created by Head Chef Tamara Solon, is an elevated take on rustic French-Canadian favourites; made with love, care, and extraordinary amounts of butter. Our food is for everyone. Not frilly and pretentious, just wholesome local ingredients that taste amazing and fill your belly.

Chartier was named the Best New Restaurant by Avenue Magazine in 2016, one of the top 10 Best New Restaurants in Alberta by the Globe and Mail, and made the long list for the Best New Restaurants in Canada by enRoute Magazine. Most recently, it was featured on Food Network Canada’s Big Food Bucket List starring John Catucci.

    Join us for a Canadian Whisky celebration on Sunday, June 22, with one of our favourite guest hosts- Sean Kincaid of Dark Cloud Whisky. You will be greeted with a reception cocktail followed by a tasting of three different pours, paired to three small bites, highlighting each spirits unique flavour profile and character. There is one seating available at 4pm, the event is approximately 1.5-2 hours long. We hope to see you there!

    If you’re even close to Edmonton or Beaumont you should visit Chartier, whether for their bakery or restaurant the service is first class and authentic, the food equally as great.

    We hadn't been here for a few months since we moved house which makes Beaumont a bit further away now. That being said it's definitely worth the extra 10 minute drive. We realized how much we've missed coming here for either brunch or dinner. Food was amazing as always, as was the service. It won't be so long next time before we return for another culinary delight!

    Amazing food and experience. The food was top quality at a very reasonable price. We enjoyed everything we had: beverages, appetizers, entrées to the desserts. We also grabbed some teas, local honey and sourdough bread to take home. The entrées was what I would expect from a 5 star restaurant. The flavors were well paired with the textures. It was a perfectly balanced dance of flavors.

    The less cynical you are, the better Chartier is. And what Chartier is, is sincere. It works to be great, and it pays off. For instance: Haricot Vert - Deep friend green beans of insanity. To wit: It's a green been, in tempura batter, with aoli of insanity, and JUST enough maple syrup to make you think you might have been drinking before you arrived, because you can definitely taste maple syrup with the deep friend tempura green beans, and it's fantastic. You're not drunk. They're just that astonishing, if you're open to an experience of each bit being the same, but different. The flavours blend as smoothly as the creamy aoili, but for the love of god, they're distinct enough that each bite is different. Sweet, savoury, and maple syrup I see the face of god....and the next...savory salty...ooh cruncy burny and there's the face of god lightly again, though smeared with maple syrup this time. Chartier is distinctly Beaumont...French but very much prairie wholesome. It's unique, and a must. If I had to describe its character, Chartier is an intentional accident. The owners and kitchen wear the restaurant. They're part of it. It was meant to be a local gem. Instead, it became a local institution. You've never had anything so Canadian, so French, or so Alberta, ever. You should go.

    The food was amazing the service was great and the baked goods were so scrumptious! The music was a bit loud at first but they did turn it down which was awesome after that you didn’t have to raise your voice to have a conversation. Fantastic place would definitely go again!

    Always the best of food and service . The poutine is so yummy as is the Benny's either Donavan or the traditional. Hard to walk out without a sourdough and some treats. See you again

    First time going to chartier for breakfast! Will come back and maybe try something different, the coffee was the best. Had a sweet and salty maple doughnut and a breakfast of eggs, bacon toast and some type of sausage patty. The owner was simply lovely and I’m so glad that they are still in business!
