Chart House Restaurant - Tower of the Americas Ratings and Reviews
Fantastic experience! Food was as amazing as the view! Only complaint from my group was the horribly long wait for elevator before and after meal. It was so long it put people in a mood making the euphoria of the experience short and sweet. Left upset, pushed and shoved, not the way I wanted to end my night.
It was our Anniversary. The elevators were crowded & slow people were arguing. A lady came over to take people to another elevator. My husband & I got on the elevator & someone complained that they were in front of us but when we got to the restaurant they didn’t have a reservation like us & was told they would have to wait one hour & 30 mins. I think reservations should have priority to get on the elevator so they’re not late trying to ride the elevator.
We are not tourists and have been to this location on many occasions. Food was way below the standards of the Chart House restaurants. We would not eat there again unless something is done to correct the problem. Service was fine. Cocktails were good. We tried a variety of items from the happy hour and main menu. Foods were o.k. to downright bad - overcooked, dry and tasteless. Lobster had to be cut with a knife. Sea Bass was inexcusably greasy. This location HAD really good food at one point and I can guarantee you that our experience was not a fluke. Get a cocktail and go to the observation deck. Save the nice meal for one of the higher end establishments downtown that are working hard for your business. This location is not.
Comida familiar por encontrarnos de visita en San Antonio y reunirnos como familia, lugar con vista privilegiada de la Ciudad, además de excelente comida, sin embargo nos gustaría la varta del menú en español, muchas gracias por la atención.
I will not go to this business again. The food was cold, the lighting was so poor that I had to use my iPhone flashlight to read the menu. The only positive thing I can say is that the salad was served at the appropriate temperature. Main course(s) were overcooked and dried, not how you serve flounder or snapper. Crab meat tasted as if it is was dumped from a can directly onto the fish. For us, we would have had a better dining experience by going to "The Reel" or "MacAdoo's" in New Braunfels but we wanted something else. Waiting 45 for the main course to arrive is a bit too long and without seeing any wait staff during that entire time.
Everything about our trip to the Tower of the Americas was great. The service was excellent, our waitress was very attentive and made some great suggestions for our meal and drinks. Everything we ordered was delicious. Every one in our group was very happy with their meal.
We made dinner reservations for 7:15 pm. We arrived 7 pm and expected to be seated at least within 10-15 minutes after the reserved time if not earlier. But the front desk told us we had to wait 30 min longer from our 7:15 pm because we requested for a table by the window. That is just POOR SERVICE because I had reserved that time slot and the restaurant wasn’t even that full. They should have accounted for the request when we reserved for that time.
Food is so-so. The mahi-mahi and flounder we ordered were not fresh. My daughter loved her coconut shrimp and my son liked his prime rib. The lave cake was good! The waiter we had was professional and attentive.
Ambience was the best- overlooking the city of San Antonio.
First time here at this San Antonio landmark, previous reviews good insight on setting high expectations. Staff top notch from checking in at ground level, greeting at restaurant level, bringing drinks at bar level ( we were 15 minutes early and seating came approx 17 mins past rez time). Waiter Patrick gave excellent recommendations on all phases of meal. Tower cannot be outdone with the gorgeous view of San Antonio night lights.
Waiter was absolutely horrible, never brought out items when asked multiple times. Went very early in the day not a crazy crowd, and service acted as if he was dinning all the tables. He didn’t pay attention when needed drinks, didn’t know much about the food when asked specific questions. Apparently has been working there for some time yet couldn’t tell us what was one item on the menu. Amazing view and food, just expect the a good service for what we paid for.
The ambiance and service here was awesome. We were celebrating our anniversary, the only issue I had was the food was not hot and my steak was not done the way I asked. The restaurant was loud making it impossible to hold a conversation. Other than that it was an Ok first time experience.
We've been here many times, and have always enjoyed the experience. This time much was below par. It was crowded and busy, being the day before New Years Eve, and we couldn't help thinking that they were either obviously unprepared for the holiday weekend, or stretched beyond the usual capacity of the staff. They were "out" of a lot of items. Starting with cocktails, they were out of some of the daiquiri flavors, and had no olives of any kind for martinis. For the seafood entrees, they were out of remoulade sauce. Much of the food was cold when served, and there were unusual delays and many apologies. We are long time fans of the Tower experience, but overall we were disappointed this time around, and are hoping for improvement when we're there again.
I emailed in advance to let the staff know I was planning to propose to my girlfriend. They made sure we were seated next to a window, so we had a amazingly romantic view of San Antonio. The staff was extremely attentive ( but not intrusive). When my my girlfriend went to the restroom, the waiter, Luis, checked in to see if I needed anything special done in preparation beyond what was already planned. Then he watched from a distance to see how she responded when I proposed. Once he saw that she said yes, he arrived at the table with a desert cake, with the word, "congratulations" written in chocolate on the plate. When we left, all the staff were congratulating us.
It's only been 3 days, but my fiance is still talking to all her friends and family, telling them of the incredibly romantic night we had, thanks to the Chart House and staff.
Although we had reservation for 4:45, we weren’t seated until 5:10 and didn’t receive our drinks until 6:00. Service was very slow but may have been short staffed. My second lemon drop tasted like cucumbers so I asked for the drink to be remade. When I told the waiter that I still tasted cucumbers in the remade drink, he told me that he had watched the bartender remake the drink using only ingredients for lemon drop. I didn’t want to be rude and return the drink a second time. The waiter stopped by our table later and told me that he had figured it out and that I was right. Apparently there was some cross contamination of the sugar for the rim which made the drink taste like cucumbers. He did not offer to replace the drink or remove the cost of the drink. My husband and I enjoy a nice meal and don’t mind paying $200 for great food in beautiful surroundings, but was a little disappointed in the bar service.
We were at the tower for an early dinner and drinks and enjoyed great food and an awesome view. It is a great spot when visiting San Antonio or and/or for special occasions or with friends.
Great time on the tower at the restaurant. Food was great and view with friends was even better.
