Chart House Restaurant - Tower of the Americas Ratings and Reviews
Poor service and we were told by our server that we couldn’t order fish this late.
After being seated we waited.... and waited..... and waited for our server to come over or even acknowledge us. Finally after waiting for 15 minutes our server came over and just started pouring waters. No hi, my name is... or sorry about the wait... nothing. We ordered a bottle of wine and the waiter started to walk off. I told him we were also ready to order now. After attempting to order mahi-mahi, the waiter asked, “Didn’t the hostess tell you that you can’t order fish this late?” As if we were idiots for not already knowing that.
I was done at this point and just said, We’ll just leave then. I walked up to the hostess and explained that we were walking out because it took over 15 minutes for anyone to even acknowledge us and then we were told we couldn’t order fish this late. We then proceeded to the elevator to leave.
The manager overheard my conversation with the hostess and came over to apologize and asked if there was anything he could do to make it up to us. He also explained that they were out of fish, which is why we couldn’t order fish. I told him I couldn’t handle BOTH bad service AND no fish. I do appreciate his apology, but would rather spend my money where the service is better. We ended up just eating on the Riverwalk instead. You should too.
The ambiance was excellent other than couldnt read menu because of the dim lighting. had to use tealight on table and my iphone flashlight. Great menu however when we got our meal, the food was lukewarm. I ordered the stuffed flounder and it was just like those you get in the grocery store in the fresh food section. The lobster bisque was very good, the chopped salad very bland. I think i would have preferred a whole flounder with the bones and stuffed rather than what was served. Asked for iced tea, and lemon and sugar or sweetener was not offered. had to ask. Servers were very friendly though. I would go back but probably ask that they make sure our food was hot and would try a different dish.
We went to the chart house to celebrate Valentine’s Day over our baby-moon in San Antonio...a little disappointed at the beginning of our meal as our reservation was for 6, when we arrived a few minutes early around 5:50, they told us to sit in the lounge and they’d text us when our table was ready closer to 6...40 minutes later my husband had to ask them what was going on and they told us we were never checked in? I had checked in downstairs in the lobby and again upstairs once we rode the elevator to the restaurant, they even confirmed my phone number when we checked in! Once my husband talked to them they seated us right away and comped us an appetizer which was very kind. I was just sort of disappointed that our special evening started out this way-kind of put a damper on it! Plus I am 6 months pregnant and was definitely ready to eat lol! Our server Michael was great though and put us in better moods! The view from the top of the tower of the Americas was beautiful, especially seeing the city all lit up at night! The food was pretty good too!
We ordered the shrimp and crab fondue as an appetizer and were very impressed with it. Then, came our salad, which did not tantalize the tastebuds. Our ribeye steak was cooked to perfection and was definitely one of the best steaks I have ever eaten. It was our first time ever visiting, for both of us and was seated in a corner booth downstairs. Overall, we had a wonderful time!! Thanks! We will definitely visit again!!
The food could have been a lot better. We had to ask to take my moms filet mignon back to get it to medium well while we had our entree’s. I ordered the same which was good but order veggies (broccoli and red peppers) and brought me garlic mash potatoes. I waited about 20 minutes and the waiter comes back with green beans saying they were all out of the veggies. So during that time I was waiting I did not eat my steak and when the green beans came I requested to have it warmed up since it got cold. My boyfriend ordered the ribeye, he said tasted bland with little taste. It was moist and cooked perfect and that’s all he said about his meal. To say the least, the table in front of us also had their order remade for unknown reasons and we saw the manager come to the table and apologize many times to them. It appeared to us maybe there was a new cook? We’re not sure but the food was not up to par for the bill that we received. I expected more out of the restaurant since I’ve already visited and everything was great. Which is why I wanted to celebrate my mother’s birthday at this restaurant.
The atmosphere was great.
The view was ok.
The drinks were good.
I don’t think I’d recommend the restaurant.
Thank you for taking the time to read my review.
Should have been another option on the menu for Valentine's and it being ash Wednesday. Wasn't to happy with the menu. And a little to pricy for chicken rice and beans. And no rose petals at a table for four poeple when reserved for two. We have always been pleased with our visits there but a little disappointing this time.
Once seated we realized that they didn’t have the full menu available. We came for the filet but it wasn’t available so we ordered an appetizer and drinks. They must have been having a/c issues, it was unbearably hot in there. I’m not talking a little warm or stuffy, I was sweating. We quickly finished the appetizer and left. The restaurant staff were friendly and professional as usual.
Tooo my girl friend out for a special occasion and the service was great, our waiter was very kind and recommended amazing dishes. However it was very foggy outside so we didn’t get the scenic view of downtown so we will have to come back again. During our dinner a few of the servers or cooks in the kitchen got into a pretty heated arguement and were yelling at each other which was a huge distraction to our dinner.
Pleasantly surprised. Reviews kind of scared me but wanted a special place for my wife and I for Valentine's Day. Went Tuesday rather than Wednesday. Got there early (5:45pm). No lines at all. It was a foggy drizzly day so no view out the windows. Our reservation was for 8pm. The greeter had no problem moving our reservation up to 6:30. Angel and Diedra at the bar where friendly and helped us with our drinks. Had happy hour appetizers with the happy hour drinks. All were good. Wife had (I think) coconut shrimp and I had the prime rib. My prime rib was excellent. It is pricey, but I knew that going in. Nice place for special occasion.
The Tower was our End of GirlTrip 2018! luncheon just before some of my favorite ladies flew back to Phoenix. The staff was spot on from the ground floor up! Our server Dominique was excellent. Brian came by to make sure we had enjoyed ourselves, which we most certainly did! Even in heavy fog this place was a delight!
The place has a great view but the bar service was real slow. The dinner service was better once we waited 30 minutes past our reservation time. Two part members received cold almost raw prime rib when they ordered medium rare. Several in the party ordered different types of fish all of which they said was good..... so flip a coin if you want to go for the view.
