Chart House Restaurant - Tower of the Americas Ratings and Reviews
I've been coming to tower of americas to eat quite often. However, this time I took my mom for her first time while visiting San Antonio and we had a less pleasurable experience. Our filet mignon had to be sent back twice, our waitress( who we understand was busy) hardly ever checked on us, we had to flag down another waiter to get service. Although we usually have great dining experience there, this time was much worse.
Took my son to celebrate his graduation from Ft. Sam. We loved it. The view was great and the friendly staff was even better. The only dim spot is that elevator(if u are claustrophobic) because they let a lot of people on at a time. Other than that, it was perfection!
Our reservation was for 715 and we waited 30 minutes to be sat when the restaurant was basically empty. Ordered a Moscow Mule and they were out of Tito‘s. Ordered surf and turf but never received the shrimp. Never received bread throughout the meal. Restaurant is dark and very cold.
I made 8:00 reservations for a small group. We didn’t get seated until 8:50. Once seated we order drinks. The waiter then tells us they’re out of almost half the menu. Literally a scratched up menu that had most desirable meals marked off. We no longer wanted to stay, but it was already 9:00. The food was okay, and the server tried to make it a good experience, but it was a pretty bad experience. The ambiance is great, but you would be better off just to have a drink, take in the views of San Antonio, and dine elsewhere.
My friend and I were in town for a long weekend and thought wow nice restaurant with great views let’s try it!! So so disappointed. They ran out of all appetizers except 3 so we settled on soup. Then when it came time for dinner selection after our order was placed they informed us that they no longer had those choices either. How can a place like the Chart House run out of anything! So disappointed! The bathroom was an absolute mess. Not up to the standard I would have expected.
Second time going to this establishment. First time was amazing and it was during the early evening dinner service. This time, horrible experience. Dinner reservation was at 7pm. We arrived at 6:45pm like respectable patrons should. At 7:15pm I asked the hostess what the wait was. I was told they had to clear tables. There were plenty of tables open, I should know since I sat there for an hour while the entire restaurant rotated around me. Finally, at 7:45pm we were called to be seated. We were greeted by the server who took our appetizer and main course order. 39 minutes later the 2 soups and salad arrived. Soups were lukewarm/room temperature. 30 minutes after that the main course arrived and yes it was lukewarm as well. Half the side dishes we ordered didn’t get delivered to our table. Needless to say, we will never come back. On the flip side, the restaurant is located at the prime location so the dumb tourists will flock to this crappy establishment and keep dumping money into it. Also wrote a review on yelp.
The quality of food has gone down quite a bit. My prime rib was paper thin and very very fatty. The potatoes were cold. We took our office there for our Christmas dinner. We spent a lot of money. The food, cocktails and appetizer's were not worth the money we spent.
Not sure if we would go back.
Great location and views. Definitely worth a visit if in San Antonio. We had some service issues with the food (butter on fish when was specifically asked on the side, missing other sides) and slow service (good/bad, the view and rotating restaurant allow you to linger over cocktails). In the end they did us right to address the problem and the food itself was very good fish.
The best rib eye steak that I've ever had. This restaurant had great atmosphere, a very friendly staff but most importantly, the best ribeye steak and ceder plank salmon ever! We had a very bad experience at another Landry's location (Peohe's in Coronado, Calif) a couple of years ago when we lived in Coronado. The Chart House, Tower of America redeemed Landry's in our opinion. We would recommend this location and the rib eye steak to everybody!
I uploaded a photo from my proposal $300 dinner which never happened due to this.
My girlfriend noticed this before I try to drink it, the wait staff had a helper walking with him so neither saw this all the way from bar to me,???
The photo was too big but you can find my review and picture on google as well
Very professional Wait Staff. Service was first-class, and the food was outstanding to say the least!! My wife absolutely loved the Chocolate Lava Cake desert! Needless to say, if my beautiful wife is happy, so am I...
We will return to this restaurant.
It's been 15 years since I was last at this restaurant - and sadly - it hasn't changed a bit since then. The decor is the same. The service was lacking (we kept needing our waiter and not being able to find him) and the food was meh (not bad, not great). We had to send a steak back 3 times before it was prepared correctly.
The view is still amazing - and that is the saving grace for this experience. We went for my birthday, and after we finished wit our meal the waiter brought out a complimentary dessert with a candle in it. He did not ask the rest of the table if they wanted anything. He did not ask us if we wanted coffee. I did not want or like the dessert that was brought out. In fact, I was happy to pay for one of my choosing. Same thing happened earlier with the wine list. We had to ask for one. Then we had to flag him down to place our wine order and then it never came.
We waited an inordinate amount of time between our appetizer and our entree. We started to feel like they forgot about turning in our order.
I kept getting the feeling like we were being treated like this was the "best dining experience" we could afford (and wouldn't notice) if we weren't provided good service. We enjoy fine dining often - and this experience is NOT that. If that is what you are wanting - go somewhere else with better food and better service.
If you want the view - then come here.
the experience was amazing the food the service the waiter the atmosphere was outstanding
my first time ever attending the restaurant area and it was beautiful it was mine and my wife's 1 yr anniversary and I am so glad I was able to spend it with yall thanks so much very much appreciate the experience
Eat elsewhere and don't waste your money here. We had reservations for 6:30...arrived 15 minutes early. A thirty minute wait in a line of diners just trying to get upstairs in the overcrowded elevator. Average service with children out of control at next table. My food: Appetizer soup was "ice cold on arrival". Had to send it back and it returned "barely lukewarm". The filet mignon had zero flavor. Do yourself a favor and eat elsewhere rather than at this overpriced tourist trap. This is a Landry's restaurant? Hard to believe.
The food, and view was good however, because of the rotating dinning space has some clearance issues. When the kitchen exit meets up with a narrow walking space, the servers crowed up here dropped a glass of beer on my mother-in-law's head and broke in half. This was not a great experience for our first time here. The manger insured us that this has never happen before, and he will write an incident report. I told him that she will get a Doctor checkup regardless, just in case if anything would to happen in the later days. He understood that. The manager said That they will contact us for further action. As of today, 12/4/2017 three days after since this first ever incident we haven't received an email or a call from Chart House. This could be avoided if there was walking lanes for servers or more give space between servers to allow a better flow of workers.
I was disappointed from the beginning. I deserved a table by the window in advance however couldn't be accommodated. I requested a table and was given a booth where we were crammed around an extremely small table. We didnt have a problem with the prices however the food was not worth the price, even the server had suggested adding an additional sauce stating that"the food is bland". We were told we could use our receipt for the observation deck however we were denied entrance from the elevator Stuart who stated it was closed at the time due to a private party. I do not recommend this place to anyone who is celebrating a special occasion!
We celebrated our 10 year anniversary.. Our server Michael was amazingly awesome! He provided everything we needed, asked all the right questions and provided excellent suggested from our drinks, dinner and dessert. His customers service was top notch down to the perfection of pictures he took allowing us to capture our memorable night!
My filet mignon was so heavily salted that I couldn’t swallow one bite. The worse steak that I’ve ever had in my 55 years of life. The chef couldn’t even get my loaded baked potato right. It was hard (not cooked enough) and they garnished it anyway. The manager and waitress were very apologetic, but at that point I just watched my husband eat and got some fruit for me back at our hotel. I’d only go there for a cocktail - I don’t think they could screw up a beer!
