Chart House Restaurant - Scottsdale Ratings and Reviews
My wife and I had not had dinner at the Chart House in several years. We decided to have dinner there recently to celebrate the occasion of my birthday.
We arrived promptly at the time of our reservation and checked in with the hostess. We were told that they needed to prepare our table and we waited for 5-10 minutes before we were seated. Once we were seated, several wait staff walked by our table multiple times without an acknowledgement from anyone.
We waited for 10-15 minutes before our wait person came by and apologized for our wait due to a “communications issue.” The restaurant was not very busy at that time (6:30 PM) with only a few tables occupied where it appeared guests were well underway with their meals.
After ordering drinks, which we delivered promptly, we decided to place our order for dinner and proceed to the salad bar.
After making our selections at the salad bar and returning to our table, we continued with our drinks and our Caesar salads, etc.
Once we finished with everything, our wait person came by and said that dinner would be out shortly. After waiting for 20+ minutes, someone from the kitchen brought out our dinners and left very abruptly. During our long wait for our dinners to be served, our wait person came by several times and stayed away from us and would not engage or maintain eye contact.
After finishing dinner, we did order coffee and inquired about desert. We ended up ordering the creme brûlée and I kidded about adding a birthday candle with no acknowledgement or any offer as to celebrating our special occasion.
Overall, the food at the Chart House was excellent and the service was fair to poor. I very much enjoyed our dinner but the mediocre service definitely took away much of our enjoyment of this dining experience.
Staff all seemed to be new and in training. Our waiter Nick was making the featured drink for the first time it had been served in restaurant. All staff gathered around to watch. No lemon served with swordfish featured meal. Beautiful setting and everyone doing their best to please.
Great restaurant...our family favorite for special occasions for at least 20 years. Food and service are consistently excellent, and you can't beat the lakeside location and the wonderful interior ambiance of the place. One suggestion: replace the seats in the bar. They sit so low, you feel like you are going to bang your chin on the tabletop!
We enjoy the lakeside setting, ambiance and the consistency of great food and service. One of our favorite side dishes are the sizzling mushrooms. The fresh fish selections are excellent. We’ve been dining at the Scottsdale location for years, with family and friends. Always on our recommendation list for dining.
Very disappointed. Made advance reservations for thanksgiving. Terrible turkey dinner. Looked like thrown on the plate. Dry. Dressing burnt and dry. No white turkey. Sent it back. Ordered prime rib. Skinny raw fatty. Terrible. Been going there since the 80’s and 90’s. So disappointed. Won’t be back
I always hesitate to give a low mark in a review ...food presentation was not what one would
expect plus it was only lukewarm. Our waitress was nice but she was flustered and she could
not remember or get to things that were needed....bread, water, replacing a drink that was in
a cracked glass etc. It was all very frustrating for all six of us. The manager did stop by and my
son did relate our feelings. He listened well and offered to comp our bill. My son and husband
would not accept since we don't like to do that.
My suggestion to the manager would be to perhaps mail a gift/coupon of some kind to be used
at a later date to try to get the disgruntled customer back.
This was probably the fourth visit to the restaurant in the past two month and each time we were sure that things would improve. So sorry to see they hadn't. The view is what has usually
pulled us back for another try but I'm not sure that will be enough in the future,
We came to celebrate a birthday and to our surprise my husband received a birthday card signed by all staff! It wasn’t a stamp, these were real wet ink signatures. Very nice, classy touch.
The food was also very good but over priced.
Thanks for a lovely experience.
The Chart House restaurants are in our list of favorites. We have dined at this Scottsdale Chart House before when visiting Scottsdale. We were a little disappointed. 1) The waiter must have been new as he didn't know the answer to anything without leaving the table for a few minutes to go ask. 2) My husband's medium rare prime rib was red all over - much more like rare. 3) I ordered the short ribs with spinach gnocci and asparagas . It was very tasty, but I didn't see any asparagas on my plate. When I asked about it, both the waiter and manager peered into my dish, not seeing any asparagas. The manager was very accommodating and brought me a separate plate with asparagas. No wonder I couldn't see them! The stalks were slivered into 1/2 inch disks, like slivered almonds. They were beyond recognition. Overall, the meal was not up to typical Chart House standards.
Salad bar was incomplete, Had to wait for a while just to get Tomato's, Bowl was empty and there was no one around. Croutons behind the plates and a very little spoon to get them
Felt pushed by the waiter to spend the extra $1.50 for the salad bar when i really didn't want it.
Had to send back the asparagus two times it was under cooked,
Wife's shrimp cocktail tasted like rubber
My Salmon was undercooked like sushi when i specifically requested "Fully cooked".
asked to speak to the Manager (Mike) , Once he Finally showed up He looked at us like we were wasting his time and didn't want to here it.
Not a good experience!! Especially when we could have gone to Morton's closer to our hotel but we choose Chart House because we always go to the one where we live in Del Mar calif.
It was a lovely evening dining at the Charthouse and it was the right selection for a birthday celebration. The hostess made our desire for a window table happen - a great first start and the wait staff continued the experience. They were personable, went our of their way to note the occasion and provided wonderful service. The food was excellent and as expected. I would highly recommend this restaurant and staff for a perfect special occasion if you are looking for someplace special.
We had a table by the window. Everyone ordered something different and all had a very good experience. haven't been to Chart House in long time as it is a somewhat forgotten place with all the new Scottsdale dining options but these guys did a very nice job with great atmosphere and great food.
While living in New York, we frequented the Chart House on the Hudson and were always more than satisfied. We retired to Scottsdale and were celebrating a very special night so we thought we would give this a try. The food was exceptional as was the service and to our surprise, we were handed a "Congratulations" card signed by the entire staff! It was very unexpected and very much appreciated. We felt very special!
We decided on Chart House for our anniversary dinner, as we had been there before a couple of years prior and enjoyed that experience. The atmosphere is nice, the restaurant is quiet, and the ambience was appealing. Our experience this time was less than wonderful. The staff was great and service was very good but honestly the food quality was so-so given the expense. That is to say it was much what you would expect from a restaurant chain where food is drenched with butter and salt to give it flavor and you go home feeling bloated and disgusting from the meal. The appetizer (we had something with crab and shrimp, avocado and mango) was rather bland, really, given the appealing combination of ingredients. I would recommend something like fresh lemon or something to give it a tad more flavor, but it was at least fresh. My wife had a dish with scallops, shrimp and gnocchi and while it was flavorful, it was too rich and the flavor wasn't the sort of nuanced combination of delicious ingredients one would normally expect from a higher-end restaurant. The same was true for the herb-encrusted snapper I chose. The bed of sauce it lay in tasted like cream and butter and the side of spinach we had was the same way. I'm sure all told we had in excess of 10,000 calories between us and frankly, the food probably didn't taste all that different from something you'd get at Red Lobster, which we avoid like the plague. One with a refined palate would not count this choice among one's short list of places to go for food quality and next time we'll look elsewhere as for us the experience needs to be both culinary AND atmospheric if we're going to spend $175 for a meal, which is what our bill came to. It's hard enough to spend $45 for a typical $14 bottle of merlot without the food being at best, well, average chain restaurant fare.
We visited Chart House for my husband's 60th birthday. The food was excellent as well as the service. The seating was perfect with a view of the lake. They did a wonderful job of acknowledging my husband's birthday with a customized menu with his name on it and a delicious desert. Everything was perfect!
The Best thing I can say about our experience was the friendliness of our waiter. When we arrived we sat for 10 minutes in The Bar waiting for Happy Hour drinks.
We decided to take our seats in the dinning room. My drink was delicious ,Chocolate Bourbon Manhattan. My wife’s Regular Manhattan was off taste and she reordered mine.
I ordered the swordfish which at first bite was delicious but became chewy in the middle.
My wife had the filet but complained that it lacked flavor. It took a while before our food aririved.
At most restaurants the manager would have offered a discount but he did not after we had told him about our meals.
I had very high expectations for a nice evening and a delicious meal but was disappointed.
We have dined at many different Chart House locations and have enjoyed them all. The Scottsdale location, being on a lake, is unique for that reason as waterfront dining in the deserrt is not typical! The food was very good as was the service. Next time we are in the area we will certainly include the Chart House in our plans.
We have been frequent patrons of the chart house for 30 years and the new management has Destroyed a wonderful occasion For my family on the last visit The food was bad the chef was bad the only good thing was the server who did everything In her power to fix the problems and believe me it was bad from The wilted lettuce to the dressing that was not prepared to the bread that was cold in the inside the crab legs that were cold the New York steak was grizzle throughout In management brought me a bill for $70 for the worst experience I've had in 30 years at the chart house .... There is absolutely no excuse no remorse no care for the customer a long time customer and then they fired the best waiter they had because I happened to talk to that waiter to let him know what our complaints. We've been Landry's Select club for years And then when we went outside we talked to a couple of older ladies who have been going to the same place for years and they had the same complaint that we did about the food ..... If you're going to the chart house for a special occasion I was just you find another place to go and tell they have better management.
It's too bad they are going in this direction
