Chart House Restaurant - Scottsdale Ratings and Reviews
The quality of food was disappointing for the price. All four in our party was surprised that our meals lacked taste. We have dined at Chart House many times and it's always been very good. This was an anniversary dinner for both of our couples so we have decided to go eslewhere in the future.
My fiancé and I Came here for New Year’s Eve dinner. Got there 10 min early. Waited 30 min or more after our reservation time, which I did expect. Quiet area to eat in, which was nice. Had windows and good view if it was day time. Again no problem since it was not day time of course.
We had a single table in a small room of probably 12 other tables and 9 of the 12
tables were empty. The room was very cold compared to the rest of the restaurant. We waited a noticeable amount of time for The server to come the first time for drinks Or even to just introduce themselves and explain they would be there to help us soon. Waited an even longer time to get bread for the table. We were rushed to order after getting the bread so we ordered an appetizer and then was rushed to order the main dish. We finally just ordered the chicken because it was clear from the calamari appetizer and a bowl of lobster bisque soup that the service and the rest of our food was going to be fair at best.
In addition to being rushedfor the main dish we were asked if we knew whether or not we wanted a specific desert dish while ordering our dinner because it takes longer. We obviously didn’t want anything for desert.
It’s New Year’s Eve and the employees have lives and families too. I get it. But the food was barely mediocre and did no justice in saving the restaurant from the lousy special occasion service they had.
Somewhat of a poorer showing for this restaurant, as we have been there a number of times over the years. We arrived at 5:25 for our 5:30 reservation on New Years Eve. There were 3 of us, we were early and our 3rd arrived on time. Initially we were told we would have to wait for our 3rd before they would seat us, and then we would be seated right away. Our 3rd arrived and we were told that it would be a couple of minutes wait still. (very unusual for the first seating, especially at such an early hour). Well a couple of minutes turned into almost 20 minutes of waiting, again very unusual for that early an hour.
We were seated in a side room, which was very disappointing, as this room might still have an okay view, but the total restaurant charm of the Chart House is missing in this room. No restaurant buzz or feel at all. The large main dining room definitely makes a big difference in the while experience.
Our service was a little below standard and server was not particularly attentive, but adequate. Didn't really do much to makes us feel special at all.
Entree's arrived and all seemed okay. I will say though for $38, my tuna entrée was too small, and there was not a trace of the Wasabi Cream & Ginger Soy sauce that was to accompany the dish...big oops!
Desert was also a bit of a bummer, we had pre-ordered the chocolate lava cake. We have had this dish before and it was served with a warm flowing chocolate center. Sadly that was also missing, just was a chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream.
The kitchen was definitely off and the seating scheme was pretty much a failure. The large main dining room looked tempting all night, but the salad bar was as close as we got to it. :(
Don't know if we will be back if that is the new Chart House standard. Thanks for listening.
We were a party of 11-reservations were made well in advance and we still waited an hour to be seated. They forgot to bring one of appetizers, guest requested extra dressing which never came; two guests ordered filet medium which came out rare-it was sent back and still not cooked properly and the chocolate lava cake was over cooked and tasted like a burnt brownie. I would not recommend this restaurant.
We had to wait for 90 minutes for our table to be ready. Several parties of 2, 3, & 4 were seated ahead of us with a 45 minute later reservation. There were no attempt to put 2 tables together.
The hostes was very unorganized and could not not manage the process, several unhappy customers were visibly upset. Food was just OK and not fit for the price.
We were a party of 10 enjoying Christmas dinner. The food was delicious, the service was impeccable. The only complaint was the steaks were not cooked as anticipated. All steaks were ordered medium assuming that meant pink inside but all were served what we would consider medium rare, red inside. Once sent back and cooked for an additional few minutes, they were all perfect.
We have been going to The Chart House on Christmas Day for the past 9 or 10 years - it's a tradition. This year, however, was probably our least favorite. The restaurant was mobbed, and seemed disorganized and unready for such a huge number of people; although, they were turning away those without reservations, so seems they had planned on having so many diners. We waited about 30 minutes for our reserved table for 10. Our waiter, along with everyone else, was harried and the service was slow and inconsistent - our meals arrived at different times. We waited a l-o-n-g time for our drinks and dinner. My husband's $35 filet mignon looked like a sad Omaha Steak. Not at all worth what we paid. Our food wasn't hot, and the difference in arrival times made it even colder once everyone was served.
However, we will return next Christmas Day. We like going to The Chart House, and understand people are working who otherwise be enjoying Christmas with their families, like we were. I would recommend to others, but would let them know in advance that they may be there a while, and if they're looking for a value meal, this is not the time or place. But, it's Christmas . . . and we were grateful for those who were working to serve us.
I have dined at Chart House restaurants across the world for years, including this one, and have never been so enormously disappointed in a meal. If I ever come back again, it won't be for a major holiday...they've proven singularly unable (or possibly too greedy) to appropriately handle the volume.
1. We made reservations in July (6 months ahead of time) for 4:45pm on Christmas. The Manager called twice to confirm and verify details. We arrived promptly at 4:35 and were told the table would be ready in 5 minutes. Over 30 minutes later, after others who'd arrived after us were seated, we were finally shown to our table.
2. I ordered the warm spinach salad and was promptly informed they'd run out of spinach salad and I'd need to make another selection.
3. I ordered the Salmon Rockefeller and my son ordered the Red Snapper special. Five minutes later the server came back and advised my son that they'd run out of red snapper and salmon and that he'd need to make another (significantly more expensive) selection. When I inquired about my salmon special, the Server advised that he thought that was OK since those were prepared separately, but he'd check. Five minutes later he was back to advise that my selection was also not available, and I similarly needed to select another significantly more expensive alternative.
4. When the grilled mahi that I ordered arrived (something I've had many times before), it looked more baked than grilled, was singularly tasteless, and did not seem to have had much more done to it than be passed over the grill (although it was adequately cooked). For a Chart House entrée, it was spectacularly unremarkable.
5. For dessert we all ordered crème brulee...again, a desert we've had and enjoyed many times at the Chart House. The desserts that arrived were more akin to a custard, w/ the torch having only barely been applied to the surface; there was no crust. Even my parents, easy to please, remarked how inferior the dessert was. VERY DISAPPOINTED!
Was very disappointed with Christmas dinner. Had to flag the waitress down to get any service. The steak was ordered well done and was very rare. Sent it back while my guest ate his meal (chicken). When the steak came back it was medium rare sent it back again and it was delivered by the manager with an apology but was still pink better but still pink. The amount was credited for the steak however expected "The Chart House" to get it right on the first time.
Never have had an issue at other Chart Houses. Won't be going back.
Had the Salmon chef's special and was really very tasty even exceeding my normally high expectations. When I think seafood The Chart House always comes to mind at the top of my list for this area. Before moving here previously lived in FL and always enjoyed dining at the Chart House on Longboat Key.
We usually enjoy this restaurant. When we requested a table they told us we had already been assigned a large booth and couldn’t change. The restaurant was empty at the time. I told them I needed a table for my back and husbands knee! Completely ignored my issues. Very disappointed!
Made reservations via Open Table and had no wait when we arrived. Asked for a window view and received as well. There were several Christmas parties but noise level was excellent. We had the snapper blackened. Would have liked for fish to be a little more seasoned. Added the Rockefeller topping which gave it some flavor but used to more. The chocolate lava cake was excellent.
8 people to celebrate holidays. The service was very poor and disorganized. Cocktails were late or never arrived. The salad bar was lacking and had old lettuce. The main course were horrible. The blackened Mahi was not eatable, and the filet arrived under cooked, sent back and then arrived burnt with a plastic wrapper found in the mash potatoes. Overall not up to standards of the chart house. Will never go back
