Chart House Restaurant - Scottsdale Ratings and Reviews
It was a lovely evening dining at the Charthouse and it was the right selection for a birthday celebration. The hostess made our desire for a window table happen - a great first start and the wait staff continued the experience. They were personable, went our of their way to note the occasion and provided wonderful service. The food was excellent and as expected. I would highly recommend this restaurant and staff for a perfect special occasion if you are looking for someplace special.
We had a table by the window. Everyone ordered something different and all had a very good experience. haven't been to Chart House in long time as it is a somewhat forgotten place with all the new Scottsdale dining options but these guys did a very nice job with great atmosphere and great food.
While living in New York, we frequented the Chart House on the Hudson and were always more than satisfied. We retired to Scottsdale and were celebrating a very special night so we thought we would give this a try. The food was exceptional as was the service and to our surprise, we were handed a "Congratulations" card signed by the entire staff! It was very unexpected and very much appreciated. We felt very special!
We decided on Chart House for our anniversary dinner, as we had been there before a couple of years prior and enjoyed that experience. The atmosphere is nice, the restaurant is quiet, and the ambience was appealing. Our experience this time was less than wonderful. The staff was great and service was very good but honestly the food quality was so-so given the expense. That is to say it was much what you would expect from a restaurant chain where food is drenched with butter and salt to give it flavor and you go home feeling bloated and disgusting from the meal. The appetizer (we had something with crab and shrimp, avocado and mango) was rather bland, really, given the appealing combination of ingredients. I would recommend something like fresh lemon or something to give it a tad more flavor, but it was at least fresh. My wife had a dish with scallops, shrimp and gnocchi and while it was flavorful, it was too rich and the flavor wasn't the sort of nuanced combination of delicious ingredients one would normally expect from a higher-end restaurant. The same was true for the herb-encrusted snapper I chose. The bed of sauce it lay in tasted like cream and butter and the side of spinach we had was the same way. I'm sure all told we had in excess of 10,000 calories between us and frankly, the food probably didn't taste all that different from something you'd get at Red Lobster, which we avoid like the plague. One with a refined palate would not count this choice among one's short list of places to go for food quality and next time we'll look elsewhere as for us the experience needs to be both culinary AND atmospheric if we're going to spend $175 for a meal, which is what our bill came to. It's hard enough to spend $45 for a typical $14 bottle of merlot without the food being at best, well, average chain restaurant fare.
We visited Chart House for my husband's 60th birthday. The food was excellent as well as the service. The seating was perfect with a view of the lake. They did a wonderful job of acknowledging my husband's birthday with a customized menu with his name on it and a delicious desert. Everything was perfect!
The Best thing I can say about our experience was the friendliness of our waiter. When we arrived we sat for 10 minutes in The Bar waiting for Happy Hour drinks.
We decided to take our seats in the dinning room. My drink was delicious ,Chocolate Bourbon Manhattan. My wife’s Regular Manhattan was off taste and she reordered mine.
I ordered the swordfish which at first bite was delicious but became chewy in the middle.
My wife had the filet but complained that it lacked flavor. It took a while before our food aririved.
At most restaurants the manager would have offered a discount but he did not after we had told him about our meals.
I had very high expectations for a nice evening and a delicious meal but was disappointed.
We have dined at many different Chart House locations and have enjoyed them all. The Scottsdale location, being on a lake, is unique for that reason as waterfront dining in the deserrt is not typical! The food was very good as was the service. Next time we are in the area we will certainly include the Chart House in our plans.
We have been frequent patrons of the chart house for 30 years and the new management has Destroyed a wonderful occasion For my family on the last visit The food was bad the chef was bad the only good thing was the server who did everything In her power to fix the problems and believe me it was bad from The wilted lettuce to the dressing that was not prepared to the bread that was cold in the inside the crab legs that were cold the New York steak was grizzle throughout In management brought me a bill for $70 for the worst experience I've had in 30 years at the chart house .... There is absolutely no excuse no remorse no care for the customer a long time customer and then they fired the best waiter they had because I happened to talk to that waiter to let him know what our complaints. We've been Landry's Select club for years And then when we went outside we talked to a couple of older ladies who have been going to the same place for years and they had the same complaint that we did about the food ..... If you're going to the chart house for a special occasion I was just you find another place to go and tell they have better management.
It's too bad they are going in this direction
This was by far the absolute worst experience we have ever had at a restaurant. We made reservations for 6:45pm on a Saturday night. We arrived at 6:35 and were told we had to wait while they prepared our table and mind you, the place was empty. Finally they called us to our table at 6:55. We were seated next to another party and I couldnt help but to over hear them complaining about how they ran out of cocktail shrimp and oysters. We ordered two appetizers, took about 45mins to get that. Once it came, one was right and the other was wrong. We had told our waitress it was wrong and she quickly grabbed it and tossed it on the table with the people complaining next to us... they were not happy when that happened. We never got the correct appetizer back either. I ordered my dinner with the salad bar option and my wife only ordered the salad bar. The salad bar was terrible, wilted nasty lettuce, dirty and you could hear the staff arguing about things not going right. My dinner finally came, again 45 mins later. It was cold and worst of all the shrimp was not de-veined. Literally, the veins were so big they were coming out of the breading. Out of 7, little shrimp, 3 were okay. I could not bring myself to deal with this experience any longer. I asked for the manager. He came to our table and said, so I hear you are having a problem, I explained everything to him and showed him my shrimp. He asked if I wanted another dish but I declined because we were already there for two and a half hours and I was disgusted. They took my dinner off the bill but that was it. Please beware of this place!!! Absolutely terrible!!!
The service was outstanding. Jessica was terrific. The lobster bisque was very, very good. My spicy shrimp pasta, however, was not. It was mediocre at best; incredibly bland. My date's prime rib was very good, tender, perfect temperature. Whoever made the mashed potatoes must have been the same person who made my pasta dish. The potatoes were incredibly bland and lacked any actual flavor.
I have eaten at the Chart House in Monterey and in Scottsdale before, and this was the first time I was disappointed. I am hoping this is taken as constructive criticism, because the ambience and service were both stellar, and their track record has been fabulous prior to this last visit.
Unfortunately once again we were disappointed. Pleasantly met as we walked in and seated. We ordered a glass of wine and a lemon drop martini. As happened the last visit the martini was not done properly. It even had salt on the rim. Our waitress had asked us if we wanted bread and we had said yes but when she returned with our drinks she again asked us if we wanted bread and again we said yes. It was a very long time waiting so we finally flagged down one of the managers and informed him we had been waiting for our bread and he rectified the situation. Food was good as usual but unfortunately at the end it took way too long to just pay our bill. I will mention it was a nice ambiance but unfortunately in the middle of the restaurant on the ceiling there were a group of lights flickering which was at times annoying. Chart House has been around for a long time in the valley and use to be a great place to go but if they don't pick up the slack and improve some things I personally believe they will be forced to close sooner than later.
Food was excellent, and cooked just right per our desires. Service was a bit slow, from the seating to a table, even with a reservation time, to the waitress that was not timely in her service or attention. It took more than the expected time for the initial contact by the waitress, and the serving of the food. It did not seem like we were regarded with any esteem as restaurant customers, and all should be, with the quality of the place, and the pricing.
We were a party of 8.....took forever to get our meal and the restaurant was not crowded.
We waited for our dessert for about 30 minutes and finally had to send one of our group to ask the waiter where it was. They had "forgotten" about us. Since we were the largest group and
there were only 4 other tables occupied, hard to imagine they missed us.
Food was fine.....ambience was great.....would try it again.....hopefully better service.
We ended up walking out of the meal. The steak was disgusting and the fish was even worse. This is premium prices at cafeteria food quality. Even my local cafeteria has better quality food. The food did not look fresh and lacked taste. The garlic mashed potatoes look like they came out of a microwave and were watery and disgusting The only saving grace is that the manager gave a significant discount off the bill when we complained. But come to think of it, we should not even in charge for any of the food. We ended up going to another Steakhouse and had a fabulous meal there. I cannot recommend this restaurant. This was our first time there to celebrate our anniversary and it was a complete and utter disappointment
Sunday evening we arrived and were greeted immediately - Very friendly staff - Very accommodating - Waiter attended us with great knowledge of menu and specials - Felt very welcome even with casual attire - Food was very spot on - Would definitely recommend to friends.
