We had an Open table reservation for 8:30, and we were seated around 8:57 or 9pm, which was frustrating. Our server was very nice, but not as attentive and present as the server for some tables nearby.
Food was good.
Dinner on a very busy evening was very good. Service was excellent and food order was delivered in the expected time.
Always good food! Soups are excellent. Steaks perfect.
We are fans of Chart House Restaurants. We've visited many. This one was was just as nice and the food just as good as other locations. There were two drawbacks for us.
#1 - I made reservations a day in advance but was told I could not make a window reservation, that I would just have to request one when we arrived. Folks who walked in off the street just before us were given the last window seats... seems to me if I take the time to call ahead and book a table, I should have my choice. Also we noted that two tables at the window WERE reserved. The folks that sat at those arrived an hour after we did. The two tables remained empty that entire time!
#2 - When we first arrived the restaurant was less than half full. Our waitress was very attentive.
She asked when we were ordering if we'd like dessert - if the answer was yes she would have to put the order in with the dinner order as dessert was cooked fresh and took half an hour to prepare.
So we ordered dessert with the meal. Forty-five minutes later the restaurant was full. Our dinner took a long time to arrive. Once it did we only saw our waitress two more times, and the second time because we asked another waitress to send her over.
From what we could see, there were only two waitresses on that night. There had to be 13+ tables (two of which had large parties). Those two ladies worked hard, but why were there not more people scheduled? An hour and a half after we ordered it dessert finally showed up. Half an hour after that we still did not have our check and no waitress in sight.
What could have been a great night became an ok night because we spent a very long time just waiting for dessert and then the check.
P.S. Dessert (the apple/cherry crisp) could not have been put in with our dinner order as the apples were extremely hard. We would not recommend it.
The location of the restaurant , on the river front , was cool. The food was very good. Felt it was kind of pricey for what we received. Our waitress gave the impression that we were more of a bother than customers. The ambiance and décor were very nice.
My friend ordered a filet to be prepared medium. When he received it, it was so rare that a skilled veterinarian could have brought it back to life.
Lovely setting, lovely warm rustic interior. Under impressed with service and food, waiter Thomas forgot to serve a salad to one person in our party, he was assigned to several floors so unable to pay attention to us, did not even know until we were served our entree. Took 20 minutes to receive our first cocktails and did not know what a kir royale was, came back to ask ingredients 3 times. Shrimp dishes were overcooked. We were celebrating 2 birthdays in our party of 6 which we mentioned on Open Table when booking, found 2 birthday cards laying on the table when we were seated singed by chefs and waiters. Thought a verbal or food item recognition would have been better.
My server was absolutely top notch!
Service was slow - getting. Drink took over 20 min.
Outside table by service are- banging of dishes all through the meal
Favorite restaurant in Savannah!!! Always GREAT food and service!!!
Birthday ! Wonderful experience
Food was delicious! The lava cake for dessert is to die for!
The staff was amazing and our food was ready really quick. I had a steak that had no seasoning, but the cut of meat was good. I could cut it with my fork. My wife really enjoyed her coconut shrimp. Definitely not worth the money we spent. Riverfront views at night were nice too.
Food was very good and the service was excellent. Little pricey but not too bad. Our servers name was John and I was quite impressed with his service, nice guy and seemed to be very professional which frankly seems rare these days.
My wife and I were celebrating our 24th anniversary on the night of our visit. On our arrival we requested a window seat with a nice view due to it being our anniversary. We were seated at a window table upstairs, but it did not have much of a view. The only thing that was disappointing was the fact that our anniversary was never acknowledged. This is one occasion that my wife and I look forward to every year and have for the past 24. That being said, overall we had a nice dinner and enjoyed the time together. She ordered the grilled salmon which she stated was a little bland and over cooked. I ordered the bronzed mahi which was excellent. My wife ordered the shrimp cocktail for her appetizer and was blown away. I highly recommend this for anyone when they order. I ordered the kim chee calamari and honestly it was like a meal. To top off the evening we ordered the molten lava cake. WOW!!!! DELICIOUS!!!! We will try the Chart House again, but it might be a while. $150.00 is a little steep, but like I said before, the food was great.
We went here for our 42nd Anniversary We had drinks and fried green tomatoes at the bar before our dinner reservations which was a 8:00. The bartender Benny is Great. He makes the Best Mango Majotos. He's a really nice guy. We were seated for dinner by the hostess at 8:00 up stairs at a corner table that was perfect for a nice romantic dinner. We had the parmesan crusted red snapper topped with crab meat....it was Fabulous. For dessert we had cream burlee and coffee. PerfectEvening. We can't wait to go back to Savannah and dine again at The Chart House.
Horrible prime rib... it was served overcooked and tasteless....
did not prepare food as customer asked. Not very good for the price you pay. Our waitress was the best and gave her best. the Manager really didn't care at all. It was my Girlfriend birthday and we got bad food. I was glad some of her food was good other wise it would have a totally messed up dinner.
Only ok. Terrible service. Crap oysters. Server didn’t know what fish was local. Really expensive.
Excellent service! Food was delicious and atmosphere was wonderful!
Food good as always at Chart House. Service very unfriendly. We won’t be back!
I ate at the Chart House in Philadelphia, PA so I decided to eat at the one in Savannah both where amazing. It’s great for a date to eat out doors or dining in. The waiter was very respectful and sat us at a great table with a good view of the Savannah River. We started with the She Crab Soup which was delicious then for our entree we both ate Stuff Flounder, asparagus, and golden mashed potatoes. It was amazing and I highly recommend this meal. It was a good experience and the weather was great.
Service was good. Hostess was great and very accommodating. Food was lackluster however. Crab was a little sour, didn’t finish it. Fish was borderline overdone. Lemon shallot butter was not very lemony nor were the shallots pronounced. It wasn’t very hot when served. We are native To Savannah, born and bred and have been coming here for +22 years since my wife and I got married for anniversaries. We have noticed a decline in originality. Same items and flavors declining. I want to like it. Atmosphere is unique. It’s nostalgiac for us but can’t see dropping $100 for what we ate (no alcohol drinks and no dessert).
Calamari was perfect. Fried green tomatoes with shrimp - amazing!! Soup sampler was excellent!! Crab tower with mango and avocado was fresh!! Loved it!!
We arrived on time for a 5:30 reservation: and were seated by 5:40. We have been to this restaurant many times over the years and always enjoyed it. This time, however, was different. All 4 of us ordered prime rib. 3 were to be medium, and mine rare. We also had two glasses of wine and two mixed drinks before dinner, and a bottle of wine with dinner, and my wife had to wait 20 minutes for a fresh glass of her wine. We had to get a manager’s attention to get that and water glasses filled, then again for refills. When the entrees FINALLY CAME (1&1/2 hrs after seating) two were obviously poor cuts and very overdone. Our guests were celebrating a birthday and were down from North Carolina. Clearly, it was disappointing and frustrating. The manager took two entrees off the bill, but that could not replace the lost opportunity for celebration over a great dinner!
Best food! Wonderful service! Amazing view on River Street
We have to say this is our second time visiting the Chart House and it did not disappoint. The minute we sat down our waiter was waiting for us with the menus and the specials for that night. We were properly paired with a delightful Pinot Noir that really accentuated the flavors of the Appetizers and the Prime Ribs dipped in Au Jus. The Wicked Tuna was a very light first plate that packed a punch with a Ginger and Wasabi sauce sitting on top of coleslaw. The Bruschettas with Fontina and Shiitakes really threw me on a loop, there was something about the proper burn of the bread with the strong flavors from the mushrooms and the cheese that kept me coming back for more. The Prime Ribs will speak for themselves, the cuts are top notch and they were properly cooked per our requests; there was really no need for the Au Jus since the cuts were incredible, but the added layer of flavor was worth it every single time. To finish the night we had a Lava Cake with Vanilla Ice Cream topped with crumbs of Toffee which was definitely the perfect way to ende the night. The cake itself was very rich with a just sweet enough chicolate flavor and the Toffe gave it a definite texture without taking a toll on your teeth.
Overall very satisfied with the restaurant and we will be coming back. Nathan and Mark were our servers for each individual visit and were both very knowledgeable, serviciable and polite. The ambiance in general and the small bar made this place perfect for a romantic night out.
We were very disappointed... treated poorly at check in, ice cold soup that had to be sent back, seated in a bad spot and feel that was from how we were treated when we arrived. Was a special place for us, not any more...
I believe I have not ever tasted a better meal! The food was so incredible. Our server, Kayla, was very nice, professional, and made great suggestions. Worth every penny.
My meal (trout) was excellent. My husbands(stuffed something) was very bland.
A real treat in Savannah. Food choices are excellent and cooked perfectly.
Excellent good and service
Wonderdul place, the waitress was fantastic and very attenative to us during a busy holiday. Great food selection.
Everything we ate and drank was delicious
The food and the staff were FABULOUS!!
Very good service, food excellent and the manager and staff did a very nice job in making us feel welcome to celebrate my Birthday. Thanks to Emily our waitress and Erick the Chart House Manager. Robert & Sharon Nicholson.
Had a great time
We were seated promptly, with a window seat. Waiter was very attentive - place was really busy. The only negative is one of the appetizers did not come out until everyone else was done with theirs. The other large negative for those of us with mobility problems - getting to the bathroom - there is no elevator.
Great restaurant with great food and service. I gave it a four star rating on value because it is a bit pricey (but well worth the taste & experience). My wife and I didn’t realize that this restaurant was part of a chain, but the food was simply wonderful...especially the fried green tomatoes (they are a must)!
We did not enjoy our meal which was the stuffed flounder. The crabmeat stuffing was
very fishy and the fish was bland and not hot. The other people at the table had very
good entrees. The she crab soup was delicious.
