Chart House Restaurant - Savannah

We went for our sons Graduation. Had two Server’s and part of our order never made it to the table. It was very slow service and took forever to get to us. We ate at 4:00 so it wasn’t very busy. The dishes were marginal to say the least - no flavor very bland. Very disappointed in food and service. We had the choice between Chart House and Ruth’s Chris and chose Chart House because we could dine earlier - big mistake!
Food was delicious and beautifully presented. Service was exceptional. Lovely view of downtown and river. We will definitely be back next time we come to Savannah.
Crab meat avocado stack is terrific, along with fried green tomatoes. Stuffed flounder with crab meat was tasty, green beans are so delicious, prime rib was a little chewy. Molten lava Cake which you have to order ahead of time unfortunately was too well dine and had no lava —. Disappointing. But overall great food and we sat outside and saw cargo ships and boats - very nice.
Great service and good food!
Consistently good food and service in a good restaurant. We have been going to this location for over 34 years, and find it a good place to treat ourselves to a nicer meal.
It took about 35 minutes to get our food and it was luke warm. Server eventually told us they were really busy, but the restaurant was not crowded.
We were seated at the only table in a large room where a banquet was being setup. During our meal, we were distracted by the setup activities, and towards the end, banquet attendees started to arrive, creating lots of noise. We felt very out of place in this room, ruining an otherwise enjoyable meal,
It has been a few years since we’ve visited Savannah and the Chart House. I am so glad we decided to dine at the Chart House. I always remembered it to be a nice restaurant with a good menu. Our experience this time was fabulous! We were seated at a lovely table on the balcony and it was a beautiful evening. The staff was wonderful and the food was fantastic! Generous portions!
The food , service and especially the ambience was great. It was sister night and we had a fantastic evening
Jordan was excellent!
Food and service were excellent and the presentation was outstanding. Wish I could post a picture of it. Sent it to family & friends. Thanks for making our evening.
Can’t beat the riverfront ambience of this restaurant! We ate outside on the upper deck and watched the riverboat activity. The food and service were superb! Highly recommend!
We went here on 12/22/19 and it was the best meal, we both were impressed and planned to go back ASAP. Went back on 4/29/2019, it was the worst dining experience We have “ever” had in our 59 years, we ordered the exact order as the first time except they didn’t have oysters Rockefeller, got the coconut shrimp, these were delicious, went downhill from there, ordered prime with potatoes, girlfriend ordered fillet (Butterflied)with potatoes and an large side of spinach, her steak was cooked well done, looked like a well done hamburger patty, both of our potatoes were cold and stiff, spinach smelled bad, tasted bad and didn’t eat, first time, excellent, drank tea all for the price of $149.00 before tip. Money is not the issue and I don’t make a scene, but we should have walked out. They lost our business forever, they must have a new chef since December, the first time we went!! I do not recommend this restaurant unless you want to throw good money away!
Great food, service, and atmosphere
The only part we didn’t like is how they seem to push everyone to the bar to wait when there were many tables. They said we needed to wait for our reservation time when seats empty.
Address at open table is on Bay Street. Upon arrival, we are on third floor with check in on first. No problem, right, as certainly an upscale restaurant as an elevator? Wrong!!
Staff tries to help by saying come downstairs to 2nd floor where we will be assisted. We are, but no place to wait other than stand in the way as no place to sit. After several minutes we are seated.
Meals were very good. When leaving, we elect to go downstairs, and then another stairs outside to get to street level.
Oh yes, only restrooms are on first floor.
Wife walks with a cane and I am having a painful time walking because of leg problems.
Very non ADA compliant. Think they should prominently indicate that vs assuming we should know that if restaurant is in Historical area no elevators.
Nice location and atmosphere was good. But food was average. Had the snapper Hemingway. It was over cooked and dry. Cream brûlée sampler was good. Two people with wine and tip was $200. Would not go back
Nice place and beautiful view of river.
We love seafood and evrything we had was spot on. Service was lovely. We do not like to feel rushed and our server was available but we didn't feel like she was looking to turn the table. NIce view out to River Street and the river. It was a very enjoyable dinner.
Snapper Hemingway was very tasty but slightly over cooked. Wine prices were typical of this level restaurant and wine list was nicely varied.
Food was OK but not excellent. Service was rushed and volume was slow and nowhere near closing time. Not like they needed to turn the table for a crowd. For the price I really expected better. Overall very mediocre.
It was our 40th Anniversary and they treated us like royalty!
We set on the porch and service was terrible
We came for happy hour and after being seated was told happy hour only in bar. The description on web site does not mention this
Our food was cold when finally served
The entire meal was sub par The worst meal we had while in Savannaha
Service was on the slow side. Food was fair but not great. Thought it was pricey for the size of the portions.
We have been to the Chart House a number of times and this by far was the best. Our server was on point, the food was hot and delicious. We sat outside and had the nicest time. There has been a change there and it is all for the best
The food was good but very expensive. If a place is going to charge this much, they have to have great service IMO. That is where this place falls down. They have very young staff who act like they could care less.
This was the second time we have been there in a row where the service was not bad.. but awful. Everything from the hostess to the server(s).
My fiancé and I arrived at 8:25pm yesterday evening. Our reservation was for 8:30pm. I am originally from NJ and prior to moving to GA, I frequented Chart House-Weehawken. I was elated to find another Chart House location here in Savannah. This weekend was my first visit to Savannah and my fiancé’s first time visiting Chart House. I had raved to him about the food, service etc. for quite some time. Unfortunately, last evening was nothing to rave about. Our server Andre was great and took our order promptly, provided us w/ warm bread and our drink order. Following that, my fiancé and I waited 1 hour and 20 mins for our steak entree and side pairings. Our waiter came twice to check on us and we continued to wait for our food. I went to the restroom during our wait and the women’s room smelled poorly. One stall was out of order and there were wet towels on the floor over the drain. My fiancé and I continued to wait at our table. We were told that there was a large party of 12 and that it delayed the kitchen. After waiting 1 hour and 20 mins my steak (requested medium w/ blue cheese butter) was swimming in blood and butter. It was disgusting! Our waiter asked me to cut it open to check the temperature, while I didn’t need to, I still did. Of course my steak was rare inside! The oil and butter was gross. My fiancé and I asked to speak to a manager whom no one could find. We paid for our beverages but I left so dissatisfied and embarrassed that I had so many great things to say and Chart House Savannah did not live up to a single word I said. Unfortunately, today is our last day here in Savannah but I would be remiss if I did not express how unpleasant our dining experience was last night. We ended up going to Ruth’s Chris across the street. While RC is not a personal favorite of mine the service was great and the food was spot on and our steaks were brought out at the right temperature, presented well and in a timely manner. CH-Savannah was a horrible experience.
Difficult time finding the right place to walk in - but otherwise a wonderful experience!
I love chart house. It's a shame that we don't have one here in Charlotte. The lobster tail was one of the biggest I've ever ordered!
Great experience for Savannah travelers!
The bread was divine, with butter melting into it. Three types were brought: dense and dark, white and seeded crackers - all 5*.
Hubby had a delicious pecan-crusted trout, while I went for the prime rib. Both were excellent.
For dessert, he had the fruit with topping, I cannot remember the title, but I call mine, crumble. I choose the chocolate lava cake - the reason I picked Chart House for dinner. Either my tastes had changed over the last year, since my experience at another of the chain, or this was not so good. I know it was half the size or less, not as sweet as my memory, so, to me, the bitter of dark chocolate was too overwhelming here. More ice cream would have mitigated that.
Our server was very good, Christina.
Great food, nice view of river, great service. I had prime rib and my colleague went for a fish dish, both were excellent. Definitely will return another time in Savannah.
I regret going here because we normally try and stay away from chain restaurants but the dinner was good but I felt pricey for what you got. The service was ok.
Food was okay. Service was slow. Ambiance was great. Shrimp cocktail was a cool presentation! Dry ice!
Our family had a reservations and got there a few minutes early, after a few minutes, we were seated downstairs by the restrooms. AWFUL isolated area! EXTREMELY high traffic, with so many people nearly bumping into the table every time they would walk by to go to the restroom.
I would recommend that if dining here, specify in the reservation request a seat away from the restroom area unless you consider hearing the toilet flush every time and people nearly bumping into your table to get there, as part of the ambiance.
Food and service was good however we were rushed to eat or soup starter because our meal arrived at the same time. We were ok with that anyway, because we were ready to leave. the Prime rib was very good and the she crab soup was as well.
Very nice service, food quality 4+.
It was 5 pm and there were 2 tables in use, when they set a table right behind us with 3 men in suites (a meeting) who spoke and laughed the rest of our evening. I was barely able to hear my wife talk.
Pro’s: Great location on riverfront. Sat on deck overlooking water. Lovely.
Cons: There are many far better choices for food in Savannah.
Read rave reviews from this location for a romantic dinner on River Street. You enter on the lower level on the restaurant near the bar - which was practically empty. The hostess offered us a table or to sit outside on the balcony. We choose outside because it seemed weird to be in an empty dining hall? Come to find out it was bustling upstairs area but nobody told us that was an option? Outside was romantic but could have used a tad more light. Great views though.
Requested sweet tea- kept being brought unsweet. Eventally gave up. Took a while to get food for a place that didn't seem particularly busy on a Tuesday rainy night. Seafood was great and fresh I will say. Just wasn't the WOW we had hoped for.
The restaurant has 3 floors with no elevator.
