Chart House Restaurant - Savannah Ratings and Reviews
Service was good. Hostess was great and very accommodating. Food was lackluster however. Crab was a little sour, didn’t finish it. Fish was borderline overdone. Lemon shallot butter was not very lemony nor were the shallots pronounced. It wasn’t very hot when served. We are native To Savannah, born and bred and have been coming here for +22 years since my wife and I got married for anniversaries. We have noticed a decline in originality. Same items and flavors declining. I want to like it. Atmosphere is unique. It’s nostalgiac for us but can’t see dropping $100 for what we ate (no alcohol drinks and no dessert).
We arrived on time for a 5:30 reservation: and were seated by 5:40. We have been to this restaurant many times over the years and always enjoyed it. This time, however, was different. All 4 of us ordered prime rib. 3 were to be medium, and mine rare. We also had two glasses of wine and two mixed drinks before dinner, and a bottle of wine with dinner, and my wife had to wait 20 minutes for a fresh glass of her wine. We had to get a manager’s attention to get that and water glasses filled, then again for refills. When the entrees FINALLY CAME (1&1/2 hrs after seating) two were obviously poor cuts and very overdone. Our guests were celebrating a birthday and were down from North Carolina. Clearly, it was disappointing and frustrating. The manager took two entrees off the bill, but that could not replace the lost opportunity for celebration over a great dinner!
We have to say this is our second time visiting the Chart House and it did not disappoint. The minute we sat down our waiter was waiting for us with the menus and the specials for that night. We were properly paired with a delightful Pinot Noir that really accentuated the flavors of the Appetizers and the Prime Ribs dipped in Au Jus. The Wicked Tuna was a very light first plate that packed a punch with a Ginger and Wasabi sauce sitting on top of coleslaw. The Bruschettas with Fontina and Shiitakes really threw me on a loop, there was something about the proper burn of the bread with the strong flavors from the mushrooms and the cheese that kept me coming back for more. The Prime Ribs will speak for themselves, the cuts are top notch and they were properly cooked per our requests; there was really no need for the Au Jus since the cuts were incredible, but the added layer of flavor was worth it every single time. To finish the night we had a Lava Cake with Vanilla Ice Cream topped with crumbs of Toffee which was definitely the perfect way to ende the night. The cake itself was very rich with a just sweet enough chicolate flavor and the Toffe gave it a definite texture without taking a toll on your teeth.
Overall very satisfied with the restaurant and we will be coming back. Nathan and Mark were our servers for each individual visit and were both very knowledgeable, serviciable and polite. The ambiance in general and the small bar made this place perfect for a romantic night out.
We were seated promptly, with a window seat. Waiter was very attentive - place was really busy. The only negative is one of the appetizers did not come out until everyone else was done with theirs. The other large negative for those of us with mobility problems - getting to the bathroom - there is no elevator.
Great restaurant with great food and service. I gave it a four star rating on value because it is a bit pricey (but well worth the taste & experience). My wife and I didn’t realize that this restaurant was part of a chain, but the food was simply wonderful...especially the fried green tomatoes (they are a must)!
Warm Greeting and wonderful touches as our friend was presented with a custom menu - congratulating her on her birthday.
Birthday candle - slice-o-chocolate cake came late was worth the wait
Our waitress was adequate but not friendly- maybe just a bad day
Food was fabulous- location awesome- view incredible. We watched ships through the window
Had a delicious oysters rockefeller...... but that was the high point of my meal. An ok filet mignon.
Pretty good cherry/apple crisp for dessert. I guess night got off to a bad start with a weak mixed drink. Had received a gift certificate for Christmas......otherwise, many other restaurants in Savannah to choose from.
With the exception of the hostess, everyone and everything else was great. She tried to make us feel as though we inconvenienced her as we added another person to our reservation. If she is allowed to stick around much longer she will negatively impact business.
From the moment we arrived we were catered to as a guest into some ones home.
From the waiter Mark to the chefs in the kitchen they all came to visit our table.
No one out of six could find an error in the dining experience. I'd call it spectacular.
It was a ten in my book.
For the second night in a row, we had great service from our server, Rodney, who was very professional, and courteous. Rodney anticipated our needs, quick request and delivery of refreshments, timely delivery of the appetizers, and prompt delivery of main course afterwards.
Both ordered the petite filet, medium temperature, which was properly prepared and cooked to the warm pink inside. Steak great flavor and juicy, well prepared.
Amiable service began the moment we walked in the door as we were greeted with smiles and a genuine sense of being welcome. The hostess was very friendly and informative, and our waiter was a true professional. The occasion was a combination birthday celebration and night out with our company's CEO who was visiting from out of town, so expectations were high. Nice touch with the birthday greeting printed at the top of the menus. We were not disappointed. My wife and I both had the Bronze Mahi while both our visitors had the prime rib. I have to say, the Calahan cut Prime rib was one big hunk of meat. The Bronze Mahi was delicate and tasty. I would definitely order the dish again. It was an excellent night out.
Very nice experience overall. Setting is great, warm and not noisy. Food is very good. Our server was terrific... very personable and efficient. They did serve a dish with a garnish that was an allergen they were alerted to, but rectified it quickly... just be careful if you have food allergies.
Overall a very pleasant experience and we will return.
We were in town for a conference. Our server, Christina, was great! The restaurant was busy, but the staff was all working together. It is not a place for a “quick meal” - you definitely want to sit and enjoy your food. We both had the prime rib and it was some of the best that I have ever had.
We were greeted by a nice hostess and were told that Christine our server would be with us shortly and that she was their best server, so she came and took our drink orders, and I asked for for a slice of lemon in my water, and when my water came with no lemon I reminded her that I wanted a slice of lemon, she impatiently screamed at me that it will be coming, and she was short with us again we asked her to get something else for our dinner, I have not dealt with such rudeness from a server like this ever, so I would not recommend this place on that reason alone, but my steak was well done and I asked for a medium. So if you appreciate food do not go there!
It was my wife's birthday and I wanted something special. We eat out probably 3 times a week but this night deserved more, definitely more than Chart House delivered. Atmosphere was great, service was wonderful, food was tasty, all things that are important, however when I pay a premium dinner price for a meal, I expect dinner rather than appetizer portions. The $35.50 paid for the Shrimp and Scallop dish was a bit much for the 6 morsels on the plate. That's right, three shrimp and three scallops with a small scoop of some corn/rice/roast pepper mixture. After dropping a Benjamin for my wife and me to eat, and there were no wine or drinks included, I left hungry. On this night as usual, I exercised my legal 2nd amendment right to carry, but when I walked out, I felt as though I had been the recipient of a barrel against my back and was the victim of a robbery.
