Chart House Restaurant - Savannah Ratings and Reviews
It was my wife's birthday and I wanted something special. We eat out probably 3 times a week but this night deserved more, definitely more than Chart House delivered. Atmosphere was great, service was wonderful, food was tasty, all things that are important, however when I pay a premium dinner price for a meal, I expect dinner rather than appetizer portions. The $35.50 paid for the Shrimp and Scallop dish was a bit much for the 6 morsels on the plate. That's right, three shrimp and three scallops with a small scoop of some corn/rice/roast pepper mixture. After dropping a Benjamin for my wife and me to eat, and there were no wine or drinks included, I left hungry. On this night as usual, I exercised my legal 2nd amendment right to carry, but when I walked out, I felt as though I had been the recipient of a barrel against my back and was the victim of a robbery.
After making a reservation through OpenTable, we arrived a few minutes early and were seated right away. Our server arrived and had the personality of Bill Stein, monotoned through the entire evening. After ordering drinks, we received the first half about 20 minutes later. One member of the party asked for lemons for the water and waited the longest. About 45 minutes into the expirence we placed our orders, after needing to flag down the server again because they had forgot to take one of the party members’ orders. I have been to this restaurant 6 times in the last 3 years and this by far was the worst prime rib I had been served. (Of any restaurant) overall, this was a very bad dining experience. The excuse of being busy is not applicable- over half the restaurant was vacant on New Years Eve night.
We were able to be seated half hour prior to our reservation which worked out well for New Year's Eve. Service was excellent, warm ambiance, sound level good. My friend was disappointed in the lack of crab on her fish, but it was quickly fixed and the manager checked to be sure she was satisfied. Food was very tasty with good size portions.
We loved our New Year’s Eve dinner here the past couple of years. Server was delightful and willing to follow through with checking with the Chef on our question.
Filet Mignon was perfect and cooked to order. When we sent our compliments back to the Chef, he came out to chat for a moment. On this busy evening we felt cared for and appreciated for our patronage. Great food, view and service. Serving staff is appropriately dressed and professional. We feel our experience is worth the price.
Bella - our server (and her support team), made sure that our New Years Eve dinner was flawless. My wife
And I had used the CH Savannah for the past 3 years for the same dinner, this year our hosts joined us and thoroughly enjoyed the evening as well ... we plan to make it an annual event. Food, service was terrific and just had the best time!!
My wife and I planned to stop in Savannah on our way to Florida. We decided to go out for dinner on New Year’s Eve. We picked Chart House Restaurant back in November. Reservation were made via Open Table. (I would recommend reservations.) We arrived right at our reserved time. There was no wait, and was seated immediately. The atmosphere couldn’t have been better. Matt our server was the best. He knew the menu inside and out. He made great recommendations for both wine and food. I truly believe that he made our evening memorable. (THANKS MATT) I would definitely recommend the Chart House to anyone looking for a special night.
We tried Chart House for my husbands birthday. The food was not very flavorful, I had the stuffed flounder. Service was slow, the restaurant was not busy. Also at the end of the meal we were informed that if we would buy into the Landry's program then next time we ate at the Chat House we would then have a "better view with VIP seating". So in other words the only way we get the views of the river is if we bought into their program. I would think anyone goinbfor a nice diner should have the choice of a nice view unless there was no seating available. We will not be returning.
Got seated in between two tables that had infant babies. Not what we wanted on a date night. Then asked to be moved which was fine, but the server really was having a bad night and you could tell she didn’t want to be there and was at times rude and even forgot to bring out some of our orders. Overall for two people we were there over 2 hours with very slow service, but the food was very good which helped with all the negatives
Service was excellent. Chef, your soup and scallops were cold, however your Red Snapper dish was to die for!!! Someone needs to address the stairs that the staff utilizes. Someone is going to get seriously injured. I saw one waitress bite the dust with four meals (12-25-17 9:00 PM 3rd floor), thank god she was not injured.
Had high hopes based on review . Typical of a large chain the food was uninspiring , the service (at least at our table ) was super slow, snotty hostesses and the seating was crappy. We had a 7pm reservation, waited a bit which is fine but then placed at a table that was next to the kitchen so everyone from a waiter to a busboy would pass by us on the way in or out of the kitchen. I asked for a different table but was not accommodated which soured the evening from the get go. Mind you there were several other tables that were empty and were given to people that arrived after us. I am beginning to wonder if it’s my open table reservation that immediately puts me on some worst possible seating list. Our server was super slow (took 40 mins to bring out drinks and bread for the table). Soup arrived after the salad (about 1 hr and 30 mins after we where seated. - everything felt lukewarm and not fresh. Desert we picked was key lime pie which was 2/3 whipped cream and 1/3 (a small one) pie. To top it all someone dropped a tray with plates on staircase and food, china ets starts flying around spilling everywhere around us and hitting somebody the people near us. No manager came up to check on people and apologize. Overall, mediocre to bad experience and definitely not worth the money.
The Resturant that stole Christmas. Sat down quickly. Took 15 minutes to get drinks. It took 1.5 hours to get dinner. When we did the Ceasar salads were warm, obviously made in advance but no room in frig to store them. $9 for a warm dinner salad! The prime rib was cooked rare after asking for med rare plus. Here's the big thing... the prime rib was 25% fat. Paid for large one, netted the medium size after fat. Hard to look at and the cheap steak knives Landrys went to to dave a buck, aren't sharp enough to cut the fat off. Disgusting. Sent 1/2 of it back for more cooking and did not see it for 15 minutes.
This was our 6th Charthouse. 1st in Malibu in 1971. Newport Beach, Maui, Mammoth Lakes, Jacksonville and Christmas night in Savannah. The sub manager gal said the GM left at 8pm and the place went to hell. It did. Landrys owes me a dinner!!!
This restaurant should be much better than it is. The poor service started with cocktails that were not made correctly. Even after I explained exactly how I wanted my Manhatten made it came out with out a cherry. There was a mix up with the vegetables with one of our party. They just need to do better with the service when the entrees are this pricy.
Even though it was Christmas Day evening, would have expected better service. Our waiter, unfortunately, I don’t have credit card receipt and can’t remember his name. After giving us all the promotional menu choices from appetizers to dessert and special cocktail, we both ordered blackened grouper, salads and the special apple dessert that needed to be ordered in advance. Shortly after ordering, the waiter told us grouper was no longer available. I then ordered the filet, which was delicious, and wish I had ordered the larger portion. My husband ordered the mid-size prime rib and asked for it to be cooked medium, afterhe was told it would just be pink all the way through. This is the last time we ever saw our waiter. Had to ask after we had finished our salad, when our salad bowls were being cleared, if there was any bread, and a basket was brought out. The prime rib arrived quite rare, red all the way through and a plate full of bloody juices. In addition to the preparation, it was full of fat and grizzle, with about 1/3 of the meat not eatable. No one ever came over to the table asking if the meal was OK or if we needed anything.
It was also very cold in the section where we were seated. I actually had to cover my legs with a napkin during the entire meal.
When our dessert was served, my husband asked for the check as soon as possible in order to leave quickly and get out of there,
We have eaten at many Chart House restaurants in the past. In fact this was our second visit to the Savannah location, but never again. Our favorite Chart House is in Alexandria, VA, where we drive about 75 miles in order to eat there on special occasions. We always have excellent service and the food is wonderful.
We visited the Chart House on Christmas Day. The food was good, however for the price of both the prime rib and the filet I would think it would come with more than just mashed potatoes (bread was also served to the table as well). We also ordered an appetizer so we didn't end up leaving hungry. The only actual complainant that I have is this...when it came time to get the bill the server asked us if we were part of the loyalty program. He was speaking rather quickly about the whole thing. He named off a bunch of restaurants that were a part of it and so on. I stated that we were not loyalty members. He then said that he could sign us up and for every dollar spent we received a point and Mondays were double point day so we would receive double points, he also said that you get so many points for signing up. He said it would all be worth $75 to use the next time we ate at one of the restaurants and it was like free money. I asked what we had to do to sign up and he said we didn't have to do anything, he would sign us up and we just had to register the card online. I figured we might as well sign up if it didn't cost anything. We gave him our credit card and he went off to charge it. Once returning with the card he thanked us and left. I noticed that the bill had went up from when we gave him our card. Upon further looking I realized that he charged our card for $25 for this loyalty program. He NEVER mentioned anything about it costing any money at all. I was not about to call the server back over or go through the hassle of getting the money back because that is super embarrassing to me. I figured whatever, it is what it is and we left. So then the next day I register this card. First I find out that the only restaurant within 30 miles of Savannah that is part of this program is the Chart House. Then I find out that there is $50 on the card and not $75 like he said. I just really felt like the whole thing was very deceiving.
I was excited to eat here, but the whole meal was spent with the waiter trying to up sell us to items and wines and memberships.
We ordered two veggie dishes as sides, but he never told us they were large enough for two so we didn’t finish what we ordered.
He pushed a featured wine without any concern with what we would be eating.
It was all pretty pushy and unpleasant, frankly. This was our Christmas dinner.
I found that over all it was good, not excellent by any means. The prices were extreme for drinks, dessert etc. The most expensive meal for two I have had in a very long time or ever. Not sure anything I had was worth that price. That leaves a negative feeling about the Chart House. I probably would not return myself.
My husband and I dined here on Christmas day. We had a wonderful waitress and wonderful service. We were seated at a table by the window and had a beautiful view of the river. Our dinner choices were the peach glazed scallops and shrimp and the pecan encrusted trout.
We were both in our glory. Our favorite meal during our stay in Savannah. I wish our local Chart House was as good as this one.
Came for Xmas dinner with son, upon ordering was told out of grouper and prime rib was not ready and would be until after 12 something. Have your meals prepared beforehand esp on major holidays.Never operate a class restaurant and tell anyone you’re out of anything. Over order if necessary. People pay high dollar for speciality foods at beautiful restaurants and at your prices expect full selection and decent portions. Plates weren’t picked as we finished and very few drink refills. Waitress was nice but got busy.
