Amazing view with delicious food
Our waiter was excellent very attentive to us at all times. The food was amazing from the lobster bisque, coconut shrimp, filet mignon to our dessert. The restaurant surprised us with a cake in celebration of our anniversary definitely a good touch to our experience here.
The shellfish skillet was awesome! The prime rib isn't bad at all. I would recommend both as well as the Cioppion. Having lunch here again tomorrow!
We're long time Chart House fans, so were very excited to learn one had opened up again in San Francisco. However, we were quite disappointed to learn when we got there that there's no salad bar in this location. We learned it was going to be named the Chart House Grill or similar to show it somewhat different than the rest - all of which feature the salad bar, a signature of the Chart House. That should've happened, as it's just not a Chart House without that. Moreover, the service was incredibly slow. We were there on a Monday afternoon at 4 PM, and it took 15 minutes to get our drink order end, and then another 15 minutes to get the drinks. The same pattern happen throughout the meal, with a 20 minute wait for the salad, and then another 20 after the salad was done for the entrées. It took us two hours to complete the dinner, and we weren't planning on that long a stay. Fortunately it's a beautiful view, but that wait didn't make sense as it was only one quarter full. That said, the prime rib was delicious, although my shrimp/Parmesan fettuccine was so-so. If I ordered again I'd get a fish filet, it might be better. We were also disappointed they served Atlantic salmon, while we are here on the Pacific coast with great local salmon.
This place is at the end of Pier 39 and the view of the Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz Island and Marin County is spectacular. It caters to tourists as it is in the heart of a tourist destination, but we went there for a business lunch during off-season and had a wonderful time. The menu is seafood centric, but nothing too fancy. They are not catering to a foodie demographic. Food was tasty and well prepared. We were under a little time crunch and the server helped us meet our needed departure time. I will go back for another look out their windows and for the well-prepared French dip, crab melt or coconut shrimp (the pasta dishes looked good too).
We wanted something nice, seafood, close to our hotel at the Cannery and Pier 39 was perfect. I read some good reviews and the concierge recommended the Chart House with its updating. Its right at the end of the pier so the views were wonderful. We asked for window seating and they provided. Food was excellent. Some very nice choices. Clam chowder was excellent. Coconut shrimp and shrimp cocktails very generous portions for appetizers. Prices not too crazy for San Francisco, but not a bargain. Only complaint was our waitress. She did not come to our table for a good twenty minutes after we were seated. Another waitress ended up taking our food order. Manager came over to apologize. All in all, I would recommend it if you are down at the pier and are looking for some top shelf seafood.
Special occasion or dinner with friends, family. Business meeting or drinks at the bar.
Awesome view of Alcatraz and the Golden Gate bridge. The food was amazing. I had the cioppino - my favorite. Also had oysters and I was surprise at how fresh they tasted. We were a large group and everyone had great a meal. We skipped desert to leave room for Ghiraldellis, but we did try the Hot Chocolate Lava and it was delicious. Great place for dinner meetings.
The salad we ordered had no flavor and mealy flavorless shrimp. The crab on it was also flavorless and seemed pre packaged which is disappointing given that you can get amazing crab all over San Francisco.
Bartender was great. Food was very good. Waiter was not so good... Slow but friendly. One very bad thing -that they did apologize for- was that it was freezing in the restaurant. Like 55 degrees. It was pretty miserable and we almost left before we ordered our entrees. One other bummer is that they did not know what mignonette sauce was for fresh oysters.
Had a wonderful dinner at Chart House. The cocktails are perfection, the food was outstanding, and the staff was attentive and friendly. A+ dinner in my book.
I was very happy with this place, food was excellent and the ambiance was perfect.
A poor mans red lobster. Food and service were awful.
Beautiful ocean view from the dining area. The food was absolutely amazing as well as the service. They even provided a free mud pie for my boyfriend's birthday. Definitely would go again next time I'm in San Fran.
Absolutely amazing every time! Beautiful view and wonderful service. Thank you!#charthousesf😋☺️🍽🥂🍸

We came to Chart House S.F. for are 25th anniversary and Valentine's Day. We are big fans of the Chart House restaurants all over. Steam Boat Colarodo, Monterey CA, Lake Tahoe NV, Marina Del Ray, CA ,Sausalito CA and Portland Oregon. This is the first time at the San Francisco restaurant. Unfortunately its not what we are a custom too. It started with the reception. We made reservations well in advance, with special requests for best window seat. We called two days prior to our reservation to confirm are request and to remind them of our special request. We were told no problem. When we arrived (early) we were told it was a first come first serve for a window seat and we would need to wait. We sat at the bar, where we could see at least a half dozen open window tables. We waited 10 to 15 minutes before getting drinks. 10 minutes later a person told us the table was ready. We felt very rushed to pay the bar bill and gather our drinks to get to the table. We were very surprised to be told they would not add the drinks to our table. The waiter was very nice but had to tell us no, sorry we don't do that or have that. Things that we can count on at the other Chart House restaurants. There was a lot of no we can't. As dedicated Chart House and Landry customers we are disappointed in this location. Hopefully this is not the norm. It was disappearing to trust them with our special night only to be let down.
They seated us by the window as requested. Great view, service and food was excellent. Definitely going back there again
Fantastic view of the bay. The service and food was excellent. Highly recommend.
Everything about this experience was just okay -- not terrible, not remarkable -- just okay. I spent $162 (including tip) on two entrees and two glasses of wine, and the food was just okay (although the garlic mashed potatoes were excellent!).
Our waiter took our order but then had to come back and confirm it. It's a good thing he did so, because everything he thought we wanted was incorrect! He was a really nice guy, but would've given us the wrong food.
Being at the end of Pier 39 was great, and that's what I feel like I paid for... A great view with mediocre food. Overall, not really a good value.
5/5 Stars! The view was spectacular and the food and service we're amazing! Would definitely recommend!
Very good service and food was delicious!!
We tried the Chef's Menu and were so happy we did. The short rib pappardelle with asparagus and mushrooms was amazingly flavorful. The portion was large. Clam chowder was full of clams and tasted great. The Berry Trifle was full of blueberries, blackberries and strawberries. The berries were all tucked into a delicate puff pastry with whipped cream. We timed the meal perfectly and were able to watch the sun set out past the Golden Gate Bridge. Lovely evening!
As an added bonus we had a waiter who was working his first shift. He gets an A+ for doing his very best on his first day on the job!
This restaurant has amazing food and first class service. The view is unbeatable. This was my first time dining here. It will not be my last.
Great food great service the chefs tasting is awesome you got to go and eat here
The server brought our bread after we were served the main course. Some of the food that comes with sauce with mixed and the food without asking for our input on amount. My seafood dish was serve with closed mussels on it which I found later then I got shellfish poisoned by. The next day.
When this location first open, I went immediately. I was less than impressed when it first opened, but they seem to have worked out the kinks. This time the service was impeccable (thanks to my waiter, Ron) and the food was delicious. The manager, Amanda, also stopped by twice to make sure everything was ok. Thanks for a wonderful dinner and I am glad to see that the service is finally what I expect to see from the Chart House. Well done!
We enjoyed our meal at the Chart House. We had a beautiful view and great food and service.
I would highly recommend this place.
We like the appetizer plating presentation and the taste.
Entrees that we ordered were not what we were expecting considering that it's reviewed as an upscale restaurant. However, the place/location and view once inside the restaurant is superb!
Our service was bland. Food was good if a bit cool when delivered but very little wait for food. One of our appetizers never arrived and we asked they just remove from the bill. No apology. No offer to comp with dessert or coffee. Disappointed at level of service for this restaurant. Had to wait and ask for bill.
Food quality doesn't match price. No bread and fresh ground pepper unless you ask. View is very good and service is good in general.
You can't beat the views! Look out onto the bay and see Golden Gate and Alcatraz. Clam chowder was very good with plenty of clams. Service was slow, but we weren't in a hurry because we were enjoying the view. Crab Louie and Parmesan chicken sandwich were good, but not outstanding. The Louie could have had a bit more crab and the chicken sandwich was a bit dry. But overall, an enjoyable lunch
As a starter, the crab/avocado/mango stack was perfect...creative, colorful and yummy! We lucked out with a window table for a wonderful view of the bay.
Had a great time celebrating my wife's birthday dinner. Best view after folks accommodated us with a window table. Charles our waiter was super helpful and friendly. we'd return when possible.
Nice New Year Eve Dining Option
Restaurant was great, we were seated in the back corner and just thought Bartender and busboys were extremely noisy with the dishes and such.
I was extremely disappointed with my experience at the Chart House. I've dined with Chart House at their Redondo Beach location and I have to say my experience there far exceeded the one in San Francisco. I love San Francisco and was looking forward to an all around great experience for New Years, but unfortunately dinner was just terrible. While we were seated in an area that had a beautiful view, customer service was extremely poor. Our server not only brought me the wrong order, a Cajun Chicken when I had ordered Chicken Alfredo, but he also served me a Cesar salad that tasted like it had been mixed in with fish. To make matters worse he had poor hygiene (really bad breathe). My mother's order was no better, she had asked for her filet mignon to be cooked a certain way and it came out the opposite. Our server didn't even dedicate time to our table like he did other guests, he asked us maybe once if our food was okay and also seemed annoyed the times we asked for anything we needed. I left the restaurant hungry and ended up ordering a hot dog from the stands around the pier. All around disappointing experience.
Great ambiance for New Year’s Day celebration
Sad. I know the Chart house from southern California. Went for a simple lunch, and it's disappointing to see that restaurants in this area slowly - but surely - become tourist-level food experiences. Soggy salad (REALLY soggy), cold fries, inattentive wait staff. Just sad. Great views though!
