The staff at the Charthouse was phenomenal and the view was unbeatable. Our group of 12 enjoyed a lovely sunset dinner. We will recommend the Chart House to anyone visiting San Francisco! A big Thank you to our waitress Geraldine!
Excellent food and service, with a great view of Alcatraz!
This is a great place to to meet friends, have good food and drinks.
Celebrating a birthday
Beautiful setting. Good food and service. A most emotionally holding experience.
The food and overall experience was superb. The service was a little slow, however, our waiter was very polite and got us all that we needed. The view was amazing. We had a great view overlooking the bay, boats, Alcatraz, and two bridges. Definitely, check out this restaurant after a day of sight-seeing. It is a rather pricey spot to eat but it serves as a great option for special occasions, date night, and ‘just because’.
Been missing the Chart House since the one in NY closed. When we saw this one here we jumped at the chance to go. Food was delicious & impeccable service.
Great service, delicious meal and wine. This has been my favorite place to dine for many years because they maintain a high standard across the board.
Birthday celebration for my son who lives in San Diego. We live in Sacramento and we met in the city for sightseeing and dinner to celebrate his birthday. Lovely view of Alcatraz behind us........wonderful food. Our waitress was beyond helpful!!!
Cocktails were delicious - but understaffed at the bar/lounge area
Beautiful views from our table
Best clam chowder that I’ve tasted
Schrimp cocktail and oysters were spot on!
The salad was a little over dressed with vinegar.
Chilean sea bass was out of this world!
But the paneed chicken had to be replaced - not very tasty.
The filet mignon was cooked perfectly and was delicious!
The server was very patient with our group
Will definitely go back!
Lobster bisque very good as well as filet and prime rib. Our server Alan went above and beyond expectations. View even though foggy was great with seals performing
I had dinner an was already dark outside so I couldn’t enjoy the view of the bay
It was a great dining experience, but we were quite appalled when our waiter said farmed salmon tastes better than wild. Also, be careful when you order. We ordered the oysters and they were amazing, but they automatically brought us a dozen which is actually a double order.
The Chart House was one of the best restaurants we have ever been to and we travel a lot for both business and pleasure so we go to a lot of restaurants.
Food was very good as we always experience at Charthouse. Disappointed that they did not have the salad bar. The salad bar is Charthouse's best attribute at other locations (Monterey, Lake Tahoe, etc.). Did notice that the tables for departing guests were not bussed as quickly as they should be, and carpeted floors needed to be vacuumed or otherwise cleaned as there was food (mostly chunks of bread and crumbs) on the floors. Messy guests with kids was the cause, but staff should be prepared for that and keep things tidy.
Three days later, I'm back again. I've been to the one in Malibu, and when it was open, the one at Coyote Point. This one is right up there with the one in Malibu.
I made reservations for this date night. We requested a window seat. Our table was ready right on time. Our server was wonderful and polite. He recommended our wines, which we both loved. The food was cook perfectly and came out in a timely manner. I would definitely recommend this restaurant for nice dinner. We were dressed up but there were people near us in athletic wear and jeans.
Over priced for the service and the fairly, un-memorable meal. A positive: The management's response to a piece of plastic in the shrimp and crab cobb salad. She came to the table and apologized. In the end, our bill was nearly $400.00 for a party of 6 which included to bottles of wine (~$90). We forgot to check if they credited the offending meal as promised. Too late. Service was terrible with the waiter coming about every 30 minutes, though delivery of food felt fairly prompt after we had ordered.
BEST: View is amazing (Golden Gate, Marin & Alcatraz) and the restaurant really has the prime location on the touristy Pier 39.
This was my first time visiting the San Francisco Chart House. My server was nice an friendly as was the manager who came over to my table, but the service was incredibly slow. It was as if they were short staffed. It took a while for our waiter to come to our table for the first time and we did not get our cocktails until after our food was served. I was also disappointed in the taste of my cocktail.
My friend and I both ordered salads which we OK. My dressing came on the side and it was not mixed well. My friend's salad came tossed in dressing and it was drenched.
The Iron Skillet is superb. Get the large one, it's a better deal at dinner. At lunch, only the small one is on the menu.
Great food, everyone enjoyed everything.
They ran out of filet...what good restaurant runs out of steak?
I have been to the Chart House in Alexandria VA and both are consistent with good food. The service here was a tad slower, but considering we were with friends it wasn't an issue. Would definitely return.
Couldn’t have been a better meal and venue for a birthday celebration
This place was very romantic and cute. We sat near the windows with an ocean view and got to see fireworks. The baked fresh salmon with the butter sauce topping is to die for along with their peach sangria. I would definitely recommend it but you should make a reservation in advance so you don't have to wait 1hr+ for a table. We made one and we got seated withing 2 minutes while everyone else waited.
Just amazing time overlooking the bay and city from our table to celebrate our 40th anniversary. Great service too!
Great spot.We love the Chart House.
This location has a nice view of the Golden Gate Bridge .The windows usually seem dirty though.
But this restaurant is more of a family Chart House. Its a relaxed atmosphere.
We have dined at the Monterey location and it seems more formal than this location. But most of the clientele are tourists and families that are visiting Fishermens Warf .
The food is always great and the staff is excellent.
$20 lunch box came with soup or salad and either chicken, salmon, or shrimp.
View was perfect and the food did not disappoint!
The service was excellent. The food was DELICIOUS. The view was unbeatable. I'll be back.
Amazing view with delicious food
Very nice experience with my family for sunset dinner and view of the Bay. Our server was a bit inexperienced but he got it done in the end. Pricey, but that was expected.
Our waiter was excellent very attentive to us at all times. The food was amazing from the lobster bisque, coconut shrimp, filet mignon to our dessert. The restaurant surprised us with a cake in celebration of our anniversary definitely a good touch to our experience here.
The shellfish skillet was awesome! The prime rib isn't bad at all. I would recommend both as well as the Cioppion. Having lunch here again tomorrow!
We're long time Chart House fans, so were very excited to learn one had opened up again in San Francisco. However, we were quite disappointed to learn when we got there that there's no salad bar in this location. We learned it was going to be named the Chart House Grill or similar to show it somewhat different than the rest - all of which feature the salad bar, a signature of the Chart House. That should've happened, as it's just not a Chart House without that. Moreover, the service was incredibly slow. We were there on a Monday afternoon at 4 PM, and it took 15 minutes to get our drink order end, and then another 15 minutes to get the drinks. The same pattern happen throughout the meal, with a 20 minute wait for the salad, and then another 20 after the salad was done for the entrées. It took us two hours to complete the dinner, and we weren't planning on that long a stay. Fortunately it's a beautiful view, but that wait didn't make sense as it was only one quarter full. That said, the prime rib was delicious, although my shrimp/Parmesan fettuccine was so-so. If I ordered again I'd get a fish filet, it might be better. We were also disappointed they served Atlantic salmon, while we are here on the Pacific coast with great local salmon.
This place is at the end of Pier 39 and the view of the Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz Island and Marin County is spectacular. It caters to tourists as it is in the heart of a tourist destination, but we went there for a business lunch during off-season and had a wonderful time. The menu is seafood centric, but nothing too fancy. They are not catering to a foodie demographic. Food was tasty and well prepared. We were under a little time crunch and the server helped us meet our needed departure time. I will go back for another look out their windows and for the well-prepared French dip, crab melt or coconut shrimp (the pasta dishes looked good too).
We wanted something nice, seafood, close to our hotel at the Cannery and Pier 39 was perfect. I read some good reviews and the concierge recommended the Chart House with its updating. Its right at the end of the pier so the views were wonderful. We asked for window seating and they provided. Food was excellent. Some very nice choices. Clam chowder was excellent. Coconut shrimp and shrimp cocktails very generous portions for appetizers. Prices not too crazy for San Francisco, but not a bargain. Only complaint was our waitress. She did not come to our table for a good twenty minutes after we were seated. Another waitress ended up taking our food order. Manager came over to apologize. All in all, I would recommend it if you are down at the pier and are looking for some top shelf seafood.
Special occasion or dinner with friends, family. Business meeting or drinks at the bar.
Awesome view of Alcatraz and the Golden Gate bridge. The food was amazing. I had the cioppino - my favorite. Also had oysters and I was surprise at how fresh they tasted. We were a large group and everyone had great a meal. We skipped desert to leave room for Ghiraldellis, but we did try the Hot Chocolate Lava and it was delicious. Great place for dinner meetings.
The salad we ordered had no flavor and mealy flavorless shrimp. The crab on it was also flavorless and seemed pre packaged which is disappointing given that you can get amazing crab all over San Francisco.
