Chart House Restaurant - San Francisco Ratings and Reviews
You can't beat the views! Look out onto the bay and see Golden Gate and Alcatraz. Clam chowder was very good with plenty of clams. Service was slow, but we weren't in a hurry because we were enjoying the view. Crab Louie and Parmesan chicken sandwich were good, but not outstanding. The Louie could have had a bit more crab and the chicken sandwich was a bit dry. But overall, an enjoyable lunch
Sad. I know the Chart house from southern California. Went for a simple lunch, and it's disappointing to see that restaurants in this area slowly - but surely - become tourist-level food experiences. Soggy salad (REALLY soggy), cold fries, inattentive wait staff. Just sad. Great views though!
Food was OK. Menu - Which one? Several were circulating and the waiter wasn't sure. Drinks did not remain full. Wine is rediculously overpriced for the selection. It's a tourist trap restaurant with a great location. In SF, many other choices are much more interesting. I want to recommend, but really can't.
Went for early Christmas Eve Dinner:
Seated quickly, but waited 25 minutes for server to come and take our order. The server apologized saying several servers and two cooks quit. With that information we placed our entire order from drinks to dessert. Waited another 20 minutes for drinks. While waiting the managers stopped by our table to check on things, clearly clueless because the only thing we had been served was water. Finally the server brings over two out of the three drinks. As the server is walking towards me he spilled 1/3 of my drink. He then had to go retrieve a wine glass and didn't bring our lemonade. We had to ask for bread twice. When our entrees arrived one was incorrect. About that same time I asked for some more water. While filling my water the server knocked over my cocktail spilling it on me and broke the water glass, leaving glass shards on the placemat ( I flipped it over myself to avoid any small glass shards). When the server brought the correct third entree I reminded him we wanted the lava cake and to go ahead and put the order in. Another 35 minutes passed before we finally were served the lava cake. Right before the cake was served the manager came over to check on us and assured the cake was being expidited. I commented to the manager we ordered it when we placed our order, reminded them when our third entree was delivered...honestly I'm not sure why everything was so messed up. The service was awful, food ok when finally delivered and the dining area was loud and dirty. I still tipped the server $50 because everyone can have an off day. I believe management should have been aware and stepped in to help. I will not return to this CH. Tahoe never disappoints.
The entrees were very poor quality. We had the seafood cioppino and it had no taste. The sauce had no flavor at all. The Mac Nut Mahi was also terrible. The fish was over cooked and lacked any flavor. The service was terrible. We were there 10 minutes and no one brought water or bread. We ordered a nice bottle of white wine and they did not keep it cold in an ice bucket. The wait person asked how was our food and we said it was not very good. His response was "it's edible, right?". The prices they charge was not just for "edible". Their only saving grace was the manager came by and asked us how we enjoyed our food. She was surprised at our experience and did not charge us for the entrees. We would have much rather have paid and enjoyed our meal.
Our anniversary celebration lunch was exceptionally good. Our window seat had a good view of Alcatraz despite the rain. The waiter was gentle, polite and soft spoken and that already made a good start for our lunch. The food that we’re served did not disappoint. It was much better than expected and without being charged an arm and a leg. Consider the quality, it was good value and we would definitely return if we’re happen to be in the neighborhood.
I loved the restaurant! We went as tourists to SF, myself, my husband and 2 year old. It had a quiet, romantic ambiance. Very family friendly and the food was amazing! Our table was near the window so we had a view of the sea lions as we had dinner. Definitely plan on going back next visit.
Celebrated Thanksgiving at Chart House while on vacation in San Francisco. Beautiful ambiance inside, fun atmosphere outside in midst of Pier 39. Service was great and very professional. Food was average. Not many options for starters. I had the lobster, and although nice presentation and well cooked, it was nowhere near worth the $60 charged for the entree which included potatoes and green beans (also tasty). No salad, bread, etc. Just the lobster, fingerling potatoes and green beans. Says "market price" on menu. My fault for not asking price beforehand, though really feel taken advantage of. Food ordered by the rest of my family was nothing special and also ridiculously high priced for the offering. This is an average seafood restaurant trying to be upscale with waterfront dining and nice interiors.
The main reason to go here is the outstanding view of the San Francisco Bay and Alcatraz island. It is one of the more upscale restaurants on Pier 39, and we were looking to have a nice lunch with friends visiting from overseas. The food was pretty good, although it seemed a bit overpriced for what we got. Kinda par for the course. However, our main complaint was the dirty placemats and silverware, plus their unwillingness to seat us by a window, even though they weren't that busy. I'd say take your chances here, but know that you are paying mostly for the view.
Was there celebrating anniversary. The food and service was excellent. Restaurant provided a wonderful table adjacent to the window overlooking the bay. At the end of our meal they surprised us with a complimentary dessert that was eye catching and delicious! Really made our occasion very memorable.
