Had a wonderful dinner at Chart House. The cocktails are perfection, the food was outstanding, and the staff was attentive and friendly. A+ dinner in my book.

We came to Chart House S.F. for are 25th anniversary and Valentine's Day. We are big fans of the Chart House restaurants all over. Steam Boat Colarodo, Monterey CA, Lake Tahoe NV, Marina Del Ray, CA ,Sausalito CA and Portland Oregon. This is the first time at the San Francisco restaurant. Unfortunately its not what we are a custom too. It started with the reception. We made reservations well in advance, with special requests for best window seat. We called two days prior to our reservation to confirm are request and to remind them of our special request. We were told no problem. When we arrived (early) we were told it was a first come first serve for a window seat and we would need to wait. We sat at the bar, where we could see at least a half dozen open window tables. We waited 10 to 15 minutes before getting drinks. 10 minutes later a person told us the table was ready. We felt very rushed to pay the bar bill and gather our drinks to get to the table. We were very surprised to be told they would not add the drinks to our table. The waiter was very nice but had to tell us no, sorry we don't do that or have that. Things that we can count on at the other Chart House restaurants. There was a lot of no we can't. As dedicated Chart House and Landry customers we are disappointed in this location. Hopefully this is not the norm. It was disappearing to trust them with our special night only to be let down.

Everything about this experience was just okay -- not terrible, not remarkable -- just okay. I spent $162 (including tip) on two entrees and two glasses of wine, and the food was just okay (although the garlic mashed potatoes were excellent!).

Our waiter took our order but then had to come back and confirm it. It's a good thing he did so, because everything he thought we wanted was incorrect! He was a really nice guy, but would've given us the wrong food.

Being at the end of Pier 39 was great, and that's what I feel like I paid for... A great view with mediocre food. Overall, not really a good value.

We tried the Chef's Menu and were so happy we did. The short rib pappardelle with asparagus and mushrooms was amazingly flavorful. The portion was large. Clam chowder was full of clams and tasted great. The Berry Trifle was full of blueberries, blackberries and strawberries. The berries were all tucked into a delicate puff pastry with whipped cream. We timed the meal perfectly and were able to watch the sun set out past the Golden Gate Bridge. Lovely evening!

As an added bonus we had a waiter who was working his first shift. He gets an A+ for doing his very best on his first day on the job!

The server brought our bread after we were served the main course. Some of the food that comes with sauce with mixed and the food without asking for our input on amount. My seafood dish was serve with closed mussels on it which I found later then I got shellfish poisoned by. The next day.
