The food was amazing and our server was knowledgeable and friendly. They offer complimentary valet parking which was nice since it was raining. And the view even at night was great.

The food was overpriced and aggressively average. Steak lacked flavor, was slightly overcooked inside and not textured enough on the outside. Mashed potatoes were underseasoned and lacked the velvety texture you would expect from a side that accompanied a 50 dollar steak. Girlfriend had a wholly unmemorable meal featuring both overcooked shrimp and overcooked scallops. Our drinks were fine.

To be fair, neither my girlfriend nor I expected this place to be particularly good. The menu is straight from the 70s, and we'd never heard anything good about it. We only went because we had a gift card from Christmas, but OpenTable requested a review so here it is.

My advice, don't waste your money. The view isn't even close to being worth it.

Overpriced, standard fare. Nothing was worth the price paid, waitress was good but service was slow and the courses weren't timed properly. Overall this seems to be a place to go for a special occasion to dress up and spend money if you don't care about having really good quality food. It's a disappointment, my husband remembers really liking this restaurant in other locations. But anyway, there are a ton of better options in Portland. We won't be returning.

It was an embarrassing business dinner. We were besides a dozen or more group that was highly noisy ( yelling and banging the glass). Asked to be moved away after our dinner and waiting for our dessert. Even on other end, we still can hear them loud. Not a pleasant experienced.

Another great meal at the Chart House! Favorite for seafood and the steaks are delicious as well. Service was a tad off this evening, but still good. The Chart House always treats us very well with preferred view tables.

The food here is excellent, and the view was superb. We had the stuffed prawns, prime rib, and the shrimp pasta. All the meals were very tasty, well seasoned, and unique flavor combinations.

If you come for dinner, make sure you look at the totem pole. It was hand carved by Chief Lalooska. A local native American chief.

Went there for dinner on our 7th anniversary. My wife simply loved this place. Only thing she didn't like is the restroom, wasn't the clinest as one would expect at such a nice place.

My family took me here for my birthday lunch. The view was fantastic, the food was good (I ordered from the gluten-free menu which included items not on the regular menu) and the service was very attentive. Everyone enjoyed the food, the company and the occasion.

We enjoyed our experience at the Chart House. Our daughters clam chowder (she said) had a sour taste to it. She is a real taste sensitive, she has excellent taste buds. And my orange juice had a plastic taste to it. And the prime rib benedict I had was so so. Not great, but not bad. Other than those miner things it was great. It was the first time I had taken my wife and daughter there and they REALLY loved the view. I told them we will be back and have dinner this summer so they can observe the night view.
Please thank your staff for a wonderful experience. They were fantastic, each and everyone of them.

We were quickly reminded why we don't ever come here. Service was good. It's just too bad the food was so terrible. Soup was cold, scallop & shrimp plate was too salty & the gnocchi was mushy... So disappointed. If it wasn't for a gift card we would never have gone.

Our special occasion dinner was New Year’s Eve with our favorite nephew. We enjoyed some lovely cocktails, 2 appetizers, (shared), Caesar salad each, husband & I have prime rib, nephew-seared ahi, all with baked potatoes. Our appetizers were coconut shrimp-wonderful presentation, a bit sweet, but that’s to be expected with coconut shrimp. Other appetizer was a dozen oysters, pricey, but excellent. Caesars were huge! Should have split one with hubby, but otherwise they were all one could hope for. Prime rib was perfect, ahi also perfectly done. Potatoes were enormous, and just what one would expect in a loaded baker. Enjoyed some delicious ice cream for dessert, butter pecan, made in house, very good indeed. Our waiter recommended a perfect Pinot Noir to accompany our meal, the house special as luck would have it. A fine wine, but am unable to recall the vintner. We love the Chart House in the Denver area, and I think this is only our second visit to the one here in Portland. If one wants an old school delicious meal, with great service, this is one of the better choices Portland has to offer.

We hadn't been to the Chart House in many years but wanted a nice place for a business dinner. The view is always great but the food was surprisingly good too. We started with a farmers market salad. It was amazing - so many veggies, really tasty. Not a normal restaurant salad from a bag. Most of us had the stuffed shrimp - really tasty. My husband had the shrimp and scallops and he said it was wonderful. The portions are good, enough to fill you up. We got mud pie for dessert, not my favorite, but everyone else enjoyed it. I would probably go for the lava cake next time. Overall, good friendly service, great view, nice, sophisticated restaurant. Perfect for a celebration dinner.

We went to the Chart House for a birthday dinner and had the best, most relaxed evening we have had in a long time. I forgot how nice it is there. It was raining out but we were able to pull right up to the front door for valet parking. We had a table with a view of the city. Our server was great. She was right there when needed with good suggestions and information, attentive but not over bearing. The simple touches the restaurant does (adding the birthday guest's name to the menu and leaving a birthday card) are so nice, and go so far in making it a special night. The food was fantastic. We had the signature table side Manhattan, and it was a big hit. All around, it was a terrific evening.

Amazing service and food. The only problem we had, was they were out of a lot of items. Listed below

First choice of wine
First choice of appetizer
First choice of entrée
First choice of dessert

I felt bad for the waiter. How must he feel to have no control and bare the bad news.

I will be back, but not a great night

Overall, the experience was wonderful. If I was nitpicking, I would say that I was slightly disappointed they had run out of some of the items on the menu. However, it was totally understandable as we were dining late (at 8:30 PM) on Christmas Day. We ended up selecting our meal from the available items and there was no problem. We both had steaks and the salad that was available. Both were excellent. The dessert (Creme Brûlée) was delicious and we both liked it very much.

We had Christmas dinner at the Chart House, and it was a great experience. The service was amazing and the food was very good. My only complaint is that by the time we got there at 8:15, they were out of scallops and their fresh fish options. I ordered lobster instead and loved it! I really enjoy the atmosphere at the Chart House. It's a great place for special occasions!

Front desk forgot to check us in and we sat in the lobby for 40 minutes. Then we were seated next to a large group with an unruly child and once we received our meal the table decided to sing Rudolph the red nosed reindeer during our meal? Our waitress was so consumed with the table next to us we never were asked for refills or extra rolls. We ate and ran. Worst Christmas dinner ever. If I had known it was going to be a sing a long I would have brought my harmonica.

Would have given more stars but was seated in an area where the constant beat of music was a lot like driving near a car with their bass speakers blaring - same beat over and over but can't hear the actual music and we were also just on the other side of an area where they apparently cleared dishes so sounds of crashing from dishes being dumped into something, etc. Food was good, service staff was excellent.
