Lovely setting and excellent service. Plan return for Thanksgiving.
I have always thought Chart House was a great place for special occasions. We celebrated a birthday there on Sunday; there were 7 of us. The view was special, in spite of the rain. The service was good. Unfortunately, the food was very average; it was nothing special or memorable. We had omelettes and different kind of eggs benedict. While the food was "fine", I expect better than fine at Chart House - I can get fine anywhere. I certainly won't be planning any trips back there soon - disappointing.
Great time! Great service, a bit to hot in there for me. But overall great.
Celebrated our 23 Wedding Anniversary. Returning from celebrating other Anniversaries, Retirement and Birthday occasions. The Chart House has never failed me for outstanding Food, Service and the View is the best in Portland.
Great food and service! Can't go wrong at the Charthouse
As usual we enjoyed our visit to the Chart House, the service is great as is the view...however, very pricey. We think they may have gotten ahead of themselves over the years, we will gladly pay for a good meal (which is what we got) but they may be pricing themselves out of our further visits.
A/C vent blew directly on our table. Was cold, very cold. All of us were shivering. Took four request to have it adjusted. Was so cold our red wine became chilled and our food did not stay warm long enough to eat it.
We were there to celebrate our 26th Anniversary. That was noted when the reservation was made. We were seated downstairs next to the bar. It was very loud. The chicken was dry and when ordering the chicken dinner with asparagus a side order of mashed potatoes was also ordered. The waiter never mentioned that it was included with the dinner. The side wouldn't have been ordered if we knew that, as the menu stated chicken with asparagus. We did have to wait a while for the gluten free menu as we had to mention to the waiter 3 times. We had asked the waiter for still water and sparkling water and the sparking water was forgotten. We had to remind the waiter about it. My husband ordered a alcoholic beverage and it sat at the bar for a good time as the ice was almost melted by the time we received it. The overall experience wasn't that great and very loud.
Our server Peter was the highlight of our visit. It was disappointing that there was scaffolding blocking part of the view, and as we had guest from out of town, it would have been nice to have the information ahead of time. Our food was good, with the exception of the Ahi tuna, which was lacking in flavor. However the king salmon salad was a hit and the peach bourbon scallops and shrimp were very good. We had the trio of Creme Brulees, the beet one was disappointing. All in all a nice meal, but again Peter was the star of the show with his spot on attention to service!
The noise level was pretty high, making it difficult for several members of our party to hear our conversation. The initial food and drink orders were slow to come out. Lovely view partially blocked by scaffolding. Go for the view.
Jermey was our server and he was very informative & attentive. We appreciated the "smaller" portion that have been added to the lovey Chocolate Lava Cake! Very appropriate! We were seated at one of our favorite tables! Much improved service from our May experience. Thank You!
the staff was wonderful! I was disappointed in the prime rib. rather bland.
Beautiful view, attentive service, nice playing. Always a good choice for a special occasion
I have and will again recommend the Chart House in Portland. 2 favorites, Las Vegas and Portland. Others are really good but these are my favorites.
We loved the kimchi calamari! Our waitress convinced us to try it and we were not disappointed. The menu for lunch and brunch was fairly basic but quality dishes.
Think our waiter had too many things going on as some of our requests weren’t followed up well and we didn’t get steak knives for our entree, which was disappointing
Hello to the staff at the Chart House Restaurant on Twilliger, Portland OR.
I and my friends had a great time. The valet parking was easy. We reservations so getting the row from the West window was very nice. That moment the window was grey/white from dense clouds floating by. Five minutes later the clouds moved on and we had a hazy view of the across the River and could 99E.
The service was great. It was only 6 pm and the restaurant was filling nicely. We ordered libations they came quickly. We were left alone long enough and not rushed at all. The meals were served in a timely manner. We each enjoyed our meals and visited twice to see if everything was all right. We were bussed when finishing our meal. The two of us had Birthdays.
I felt the bill was reasonable. So from after the drop off, in the door, being seated. Then we had water on the table. Drinks ordered, food ordered, food delicious. Bill paid, tip given. The Chart House was a wonderful place. I felt the staff makes a restaurant tick. Great Job!
Bad tough chicken in salad. Thick pig like taste. Noisy patrons nearby. Expensive food not worth it. Nice waitperson but that’s about it.
Great as usual.*6
Great view. So-so food. Overpriced wines. A special occasion destination.
My husband and I received a gift card. We made reservations for an early dinner (5pm) on a Tuesday as we had plans later in the evening. We arrived earlier than when the dining room opened, so we sat at the bar for a drink at happy hour. The bartender was awesome and even gave us some tips for dinner. Once we were seated at our table (which was right by the window and had a fantastic view), our waiter greeted us promptly. He told us about the specials and gave some recommendations. We told him about some special dietary concerns, and he helped us with that as well. We ordered appetizers and our meals. Shortly after he brought us some bread and delicious whipped butter. He ensured our food would arrive at a good time (they weren’t busy as it was so early) so we wouldn’t be bombarded with our apps and entrees all at once. It was perfect.
We both had the filet mignon. The husband had the mashed potatoes and I had the creamed spinach. That was a tasty steak! Normally we would have taken home leftovers. Unfortunately, there wasn’t a bite to be had. We couldn’t even consider dessert, but hope to go back for the chocolate lava cake.
Overall, I would say it was one of our favorite places for fine dining. If you want to ensure you’ll get a coveted window seat, try and go at a time that’s not very busy. By the time we left, the place was packed.
Great food great service would definitely visit again
the temperature in the restaurant was very cold. The AC was way too high. I watched 3 tables ask to move and we were unable to move because we had a toddler. My 80yr old dad had goosebumps the entire dinner and I had to go outside with him a few times just so he could warm up. The waitress said they just turned the AC off because it was so cold, but it turned back on quickly because we felt it blowing on us. Unfortunately, it ruined the experience.
Chart House never disappoints. The food is wonderful, it is comfortable, service is great and the view tops it off. Also brunch is such a great value for the money spent.
Stunning views in a calm and peaceful setting perfect for intimate conversation and simple elegant dining! Love this as a special meal option.
They have the best brunches! Great service and views as well. It was a great way to start our anniversary date.
Outstanding food. Was a bit worried as some reviews were not all positive but we loved it!
Weekday lunch, wonderful as usual.
Loved the beautiful view. Fabulous food. excellent waiter, Peter. Very noisy but they said they had 3 special parties there that night. Valet parking was great and efficient. One of my favorite places now that i must revisit!!! My family said the best salmon they had ever eaten, the bruschetta board was lovely as well. You have to go here!!!
Good ambience and food but service was unacceptably slow. 25+ minutes for first drinks, then when ordered second got it after 20 minutes only by collaring the manager. Food slow and arrived tepid.
Great food, great service, great time. I had never been to Chart House before but it had been recommended by many people and was happy to meet my client there when it was suggested. The restaurant is clean, view is breathtaking and service was very friendly.
Wonderful service, terrific server (J.P.), and excellent food. A lovely evening.
Amazing views, amazing food and the most wonderful server! A night well spent.
The food an atmosphere is amazing here, the waiters are professional and very honest with their food, they can offer good recommendation for the orders. But they forgot to give us clean plates after they took used ones, which is a minus. Otherwise this is good restaurant.
Peter has been our server the last three times we have been in, and he is marvelous! He is attentive and kind, and has a relaxed vibe that feels perfect for the environment. (Poised and professional, but not snobby or inaccessible.) The food was phenomenal as always, and the view can't be beat. We'll definitely be back!
Thank you, Peter!
It was my dads birthday dinner, and Chart House went above and beyond! We had a awesome time! The food and drinks were amazing! Thank you so much for his birthday card and candles on the delicious lava cake!
The service was top notch, but the food was just ok. The worst part was the noise from the staff cleaning and preparing to close. We had an 8pm res and by 8:30 when we received our meals, people were hustling past our table with arm loads of linen, and kitchen bang and clang was just too much. I may be to sensitive, but I have tons of great dinning options in PDX.
Perfect for a special occasion or weekend brunch - love the view!
It was great food and service
Everyone at Chart House was friendly and helpful. The food was wonderful. It was our anniversary, and they gave us a window table, a personalized menu, and a card signed by the staff. Very thoughtful. I would wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant. The only downsides were minor (1/2 on a 1 to 10 scale). My mojito didn't have much flavor (but a typical bar mojito), my ahi should have come off the grill a little sooner, and i wanted more crisp on my apple-cherry crisp. Like I said, minor. I won't hesitate to go back. It was a great experience.
