We had to wait 20+ minutes past our reservation time
My two granddaughters just got their dream. One a job she really wanted and one accepted into grad school.
Overall it was a good experience.
I was a little disappointed to get there and no one asked me about the notes I made on the reservation.
Not the end of the world but why have a spot for notes or special needs if not one is going to look or ask about it.
The view was very nice while the food was pretty good. Kind of expected a little better for filet mignon and lobster.
The service was also very good.
Honestly not quite up to the value for the dollar. But a nice place
Nice special occasion restaurant. Old world. Moderately priced and less than their on-line menu. Food excellent, definitely go there again
Wonderful food, great service and you can’t beat the view!
We had a great Father's Day at the Chart House in Portland. My husband loved his halibut, and my son and I loved the king crab. My father-in-law said the prime rib was excellent, as well. It is always nice to discover a restaurant where we can all find something we like to eat across the multiple generations! Highly recommend.
Visited for Father’s Day tables replaced a nice distance apart was not too busy very clean and impeccable service.
We love the Chart House, and the views are simply beautiful! We always sit with a window view. We enjoyed a lovely Father's Day lunch this visit. We were pleased with the restaurant's staff and patrons following the COVID safety regulations with extended table spacing, mask wearing, etc. Once you are seated you may remove your mask so that you can comfortably drink and eat. The calamari, filet, coconut shrimp, and creamed spinach were all our favorite, absolutely delicious, and perfectly prepared. Our 12yo daughter tried her first lobster tail, and enjoyed it. She favored the mashed potatoes that came with the filets over the fingerling potatoes. We skipped our go to lava cake dessert, because we started with our favorite, very large serving of calamari, which was a yummy decision. Our server was top notch and made sure that we had everything that we needed throughout our dining experience!
Great food, lovely view, attentive service
They have the best service and the food is amazing.
Always good food, good service, good view. good atmosphere
Came here for Father’s Day lunch. We were one of the first few groups to arrive after the restaurant opened. Our drinks and appetizers came out in a timely manner unfortunately our main meals took an extremely long time to arrive at which point everyone at our table was ready to be done and leave. The food was fine, it is a very limited menu for lunch which makes me miss their older more expansive brunch and lunch menus. Our server was exceptional however the amount of time it took for us to get our meals left me unsatisfied. Between that and the limited menu, we’ll be taking a break before returning to Chart House again.
We were there at 8:15 and a lot of people had left once we finished our appetizers but it still took a very long time for our meal. Drinks were very good but sat empty. Food was great but service not so much.
The Chart House has been our “go to” restaurant for special occasions for decades, but our last visit may have been our final visit because:
1) Impossible parking; incredibly narrow spaces; if you drive an SUV, call Uber or Lyft, and the parking space inventory is extremely limited at busy times.
2) First 16 oz. Prime rib had c,early been sitting under warming lights in the kitchen until the juices dried up; “medium rare” cut was gray-center, well-done and chewy. Replacement order was somewhat better and so I didn’t take a chance on a 3rd order.
3) Our reservation was for the dining room but we were offered a window table in the bar and we accepted. There is a difference in bar-dining and dining-room dining, and they are not the same, in spite of assurances that they were.
And for the positives:
1) $20 corkage is very reasonable.
2) Seared halibut was served hot and flavorful; yum!
3) Service was appropriately attentive.
We’ll try one more time before we cross The CH off our favorite restaurants list.
The Chart House has been a consistent experience for us: gorgeous view, elegant ambiance, outstanding service, great food. Great choice for a special evening.
Enjoyed our time.
It’s was a great experience, but parking is an issue. They should offer free valet because some ppl don’t know how to park
We had put pf town guest and they were so pleased with the view and extremley happly
with meal both in taste and presentation. It was a wonderful evening.
great view. great food. great service. great ambience. A great place to go for a special occasion dinner.
Well, must say I didn't expect the food to be the bad at Chart House. It isn't my first trip there and I loved their prime rib. But this time it was bad. It looked like it was cooked a day before. I liked my Old Fashion but my wife complained about her margarita to be watered down. 30 minutes into the dinner a bus lady showed up with question if we need a box. We didn't even finish eating. Well, if it is a new normal for Chart House, I say goodbye
We celebrated my husband's and daughter's birthdays and the food and beverages were absolutely delicious; the staff was friendly and helpful; the views of Portland and Mt. Hood were amazing; and it was just a really delightful evening. We can't wait to go back.
Time for a remodel...my grandparents would love this place.
Great view, service was awesome, and the food was wonderful. Great wine recommendations too.
Service was very slow possibly due to staff shortage. Caesar salad was not fresh and sent back. Entrees should have been at a higher temperature.
Excellent service, great food, wonderful view. We arrived early and we’re seated immediately.
View was great, food was good, service was VERY SLOW, cocktails were expensive
Very nice venue with beautiful view. Service is excellent and presentation good. I have had the shrimp there before when it was somewhat better, larger, and more meaty.
good service, good food and good view. Would highly recommend
Food and ambiance was fabulous. Really wanted to dress up and go out for a special dinner to celebrate a birthday and escape the covid dining era. Chart house did NOT disappoint!
The service and wine was very good. The food was not. It used to be a lot better a couple of years ago
We had asked for a window seat in our reservation but got sat all the way in the corner booth in a terrible spot next to a cleaning station. Fortunately, a window spot opened up later on and the waitor was nice enough to let us change tables. On my reservation I had also mentioned it was for a birthday but the restaurant didn’t seem to ackknowledge it, although they did read the notes about the window seat preference as they let us know when we got there that none were available. I don’t think anyone who came after we had been moved was sat in that booth, and when we got there the place was pretty empty so even if no window seat, there were still better spots to be placed in. The waitor was okay but not overly friendly. The broccoini was not good but the rest of the food was good. The zero proof drinks were lacking flavor and sweetness. However, I plan on going back and hope for a better experience. Maybe lunch time instead?
Birthday dinner. Our guests were running late and they took orders after closing and were so welcoming and accommodating the entire time. We appreciate your service and dedication to being a staple of Portland. Will be back, and not stay after closing. ☺️
Disappointed in the service. Food ok but not memorable. Decor dated.
Great food, gorgeous views. Perfect for a special occasion.
Always a good time at Chart House.
Love the staff and food.
Great food. Awesome views! Dessert was great. Presentation amazing.
Amazing experience. The food was outstanding, the drinks were fantastic, and the waiter (Jeremy) was absolutely a delight.
They were off their game a bit yesterday. Restaurant was nearly empty and service was slow. Food was about the same as usual. Lava cake was excellent as always.
Perfect from start to finish. We love the Sunday brunch menu!
