Food was great and our server JD was fantastic!
Server was absent. It was not very busy but the server kept refilling tea at another table and walking back and forth visibly in the front of the restaurant. Then he kept saying “you ate that fast”, it does not take over 30 minutes to eat 6 oysters (never did find out what kind they were). Support staff delivered all food and cleared the dishes, they were great at helping but 2 hours for appetizers and entree....no way I was waiting around for dessert. Food and drinks were great, restaurant view amazing. Might give them another chance, hoping the server was just having an off day.
The whole experience was great. Our service, great table and excellent food. We try to eat at the Chart House whenever we are in Portland.
This is a Portland long-time traditional fine dining place that has been corporatized. The food has become mediocre and unimaginative. It's reasonably priced but tasted like it was pre-prepared. French dip: dry meat, common baguette, not enough jus or horseradish; Crab Louie: wasn't a Crab Louie, more like a common salad with premixed crab something other other piled on top. The service was unnecessarily rushing around. It detracts from a relaxed lunch atmosphere. (Be quick, but don't hurry). Nice views though.
The chart house has great food and you can tell the manager really cares about her patrons. Unfortunately, they lost the ticket to our food, but the manager came right over to apologize and ended up taking care of our entire lunch. Customer service like that will make me keep coming back to the Chart House.
The Chart House is a Portland landmark, it was previously called Hill Villa and has been around a long time. The view is one of the main attractions here, and it seems to be a popular destination for special occasions. I enjoy the valet parking and not having to deal with downtown traffic. The food and service quality is good. I intend on visiting more often.
Beautiful views of downtown Portland and our surrounding mountains...…
Food was OK - but not the reason we go to Chart House.
High end restaurant with great food, great service, and a great view!
Excellent food and presentation. Exceptional service, as always! On a clear night you can see the world; well almost!
Great views, service, and food. One of the finest restaurants in Portland -- exceptional!
Amazing service and presentation by our server!!
Can’t wait to come back !!
A wonderful dining experience. After post holiday madness, it was a wonderful way to celebrate our birthdays. We had never been, & always wanted to go. So I made the reservation as a surprise, & neither of us were disappointed. Wonderful view, excellent service, delicious food, overall an amazing experience!
I thought the service was good. But everything was very quick. We were just stating to eat the appetizers when are food came to the table. We told her we are not ready yet. She even made the comments your food is early. We told her we like to enjoy the appetizer first. Rather then take the food and and remake it they put it on a heater. By the time we got it it was dry and too cooked. I am sorry if you check you will see that we have been a good customers of chart house. This is my second bad experience. Hopping to change in the future. I have many family’s and friend that we bring to chart house every time. Today it was not great!
Excellent food, excellent service, excellent view, will be back
Perfect location to celebrate my friends birthday.
Great food. The steak was delicious and the service was excellent.
food was good, very good appetizers,
disappointed that there was no small addition for the two birthdays that we were celebrating
Food and service was excellent. The drinks were very good as well. Would recommend!
Food was delicious! View was great and our waiter, Peter, was wonderful and very attentive.
Food was very good. Cooked perfectly. Service was slow. One appetizer didn't arrive and waitress did have an attitude when told it was no longer wanted after everyone else had eaten theirs and the entrees were about to be brought out. That was the only complaint though as overall it was a very nice dining experience.
We booked dinner on New Year's Eve following an evening at the symphony. Even though I booked late, quite close to 12/31, we had a perfect table, great service and food. It was an added and unanticipated treat to join with customers on the count down to New Years and then watch the fireworks in Portland from our special view! We'll be back again. Dinner at the Chart House adds to our special evening.
Beautiful views and complementary valet parking. I enjoy this spot for the views the food is ok not amazing but not bad.
Had a reservation at 9:00 pm. Didn't get seated until 9:45. When people I got there before with the same party size seated before me. Ordered two drinks didn't get drinks until after our appatizer came. Ordered. Crab legs and took a long time to actually get my utensils to eat my crab. Understand it was a busy night but I don't think the service and the way I was treated warranted to money I spent.
Eaten here the last 2 years on New Years Eve. This year wasn’t as good of service and I didn’t like our seating nearly as well. Great meal!
Warning! Do NOT eat here on New years Eve! The waitress was unattentive and the service was terrible. We were seated 30 minutes after our reservation. The dining room wasn't even fully set. The environment seemed chaotic and sporadic as far as service. The food came to the table just barely warm, and the order was wrong. I feel like the restaurant was in adequately staffed. I will not be recommending this or dining here again. Not worth the price.
New Years Eve! They were booked solid and the service was EXCELLENT!
Cole is a great server!
Thanks for the wonderful meal, view, and memories!
We celebrate every New Year's Eve at the Chart House. Always enjoy it.
Three times we have made reservations for a special occasions and the waiters have never brought the complimentry dessert they offer.
We have celebrated our wedding anniversary at the Chart House for many, many years. We always have excellent service and the ambiance is romantic! And I'm sure we will come for our 45th anniversary--should God bless us with another year of life and happiness.
We really enjoyed ourselves. Our server was prompt, fun, and professional. The restaurant was quite busy but there weren’t any untoward delays. My sautéed king salmon was hot, cooked medium as asked, and tasted fresh. My wife loved her crab cake and the chopped salad. We had a nice view table. It was a wonderful evening.
The food was good, the service was a little slow, a bit pricey, and they added peppers to a fruit salsa but was not mentioned on the menu( I cannot have peppers) which was a little disappointing. I did not send it back as it took almost an hour to get it. Over all everything was good and I would go back.
The only complaint I have is that they tried to seat us next to the kitchen which was very noise. I requested a booth and they accommodated our request.
Brunch was great.Seated promptly and had great service from Matt. The only negative was a crying baby two tables down that really affected our ability to have a conversation.
First patrons at 10am. Seated at an area not previously cleaned. A wine cork and a fry as the biggest things, and a large crumb on my seat. Pretty sure hostess assumed I was pregnant, looking at mt stomach and offering non alcoholic drinks.
Waitress was super nice but made some mistakes, resulting in a tip slightly under 15%. We received our food and realized the order was wrong. We asked for the correct one and when it came, we saw slight discrepancies (cook's doing). Our first order came with ketchup, no parsley decor. 2nd one did not have ketchup, but it had useless parsley. I requested more ketchup and pointed at both. She asked if we wanted to save the original dishes. I ate some of mine so I declined. My husband said he wanted to as he didnt touch it. She returns with 1 ketchup for him. I didnt bother asking for more for me. I hear her at the next table asking for their orders again, several minites after they ordered, because she had forgotten theirs...no shame in writing down orders, ma'am. When I asked for a box for our food, I asked about his original dish and she thought he had said no.
Not super impressed by all that. But the food was really good.
We come for brunch often, and it is alway very good. The view is special as well.
We have eaten here many times over the years. The last 2 times have been very disappointing. The quality has gone down while the price has gone up. Will not be going back
They were short staffed due to Christmas holiday, so we ate in the bar. Everyone was nice and helpful. The food always excellent.
Excellent view, food and service as we celebrated our 44th Wedding Anniversary.
An outstanding evening celebrating three generations of military service this Christmas while family was home on leave.
“Where to start on how terrible experience we had”
My wife and I were coming here for our 10th anniversary. We booked a month in advance to get a window seat.
We arrived early and spent time in their bar which was packed. The waitress found us a spot to enjoy a few cocktails until the party who reserved the are came in.
About an hour later we were told that we would have to give up our spot, which was fine and we went upstairs to wait for our table.
About 15 minutes later a young lady came to seat us. This was the start to our bad experience. This young lady was not polite, friendly or could care less about us.
We were seated not at a window seat, but next to the window seats and the kitchen. One of the worst seats in the restaurant. Soon after our waitress stopped by and once again not friendly at all.
Soon after other wait staff started to lay trays next to us to clean plates to the window seat patrons. I mean right next to us that I almost but my elbow in a plate. I told our waitress this is unacceptable, shw told one waiter who stopped, but others continued.
I asked my wife if she wanted to leave, but it was late in the evening and felt we didn't have any choice.
Our food came, and it was just OK, nothing special. They did through in a free dessert. Which we didn't eat.
So to wrap this up.
Service one of the worst experiences I ever had.
Cost $150.00 (2 dinners 4 drinks)
Value - not worth it all.
Atmosphere - Terrible.
