Not much of a crowd on the night of our visit, which was surprising given that it was Friday and we arrived at a prime time. While we were quickly seated, service was a bit slow out of the gate - took around 7-8 minutes before our server came by. It was nice to be seated waterfront, but the view was hampered by the dark night outside and reflection of interior lighting in the windows on the inside.
Fantastic cocktails, well made with nice flavor and a good kick. Hors d'oeuvre delivered less than piping hot, which carried over to the main meal in terms of food temperature. Not sure why that was true on a night when the restaurant was not crowded. As far as the food itself, the stuffed flounder was OK but when you are spending $30+ dollars for an entree you expect something outstanding. The mashed potatoes quickly congealed and took on a less than pleasing pasty texture, while the asparagus was nicely done - crisp, but not tough.
I'd definitely be tempted by Happy Hour, which happens 4:30 - 7 M-F, but another meal? Eh....there are plenty of good restaurants in Philly and surrounding 'burbs where spending $100+ plus for two gets you something special. This meal was not that.
It was an after work birthday dinner with two friends. The food was great as usual. The service was excellent! They even had a cute message on the menu and complimentary dessert for the birthday guest of honor.
Service was excellent (Thanks Alex) and the food was great!
We tend to go to Chart House at least 3 or 4 times per year and are never disappointed when we are there. The food, service, and atmosphere are all great!
This was my second time here and the food was not satisfying. My date had to have her food reheated. The food was cold but the plate was very hot. My first experience was not so great either. Same issues with food being cold and amount of time for food to be served. I will not eat at the Chart House in Philadelphia again.
I went to the Chart House on 4/12/18 for the first time for my wife’s 50th birthday, and it was shockingly pretty bad. The food was not very good, and my meal appeared to be microwaved. I ordered the stuffed flounder and mashed potatoes, and a side of asparagus. The mashed potatoes didn’t appear to be fresh, and the two pieces of asparagus on top of the potatoes were so dry, they were not edible. My side of asparagus was very dry as well, there is no way that fresh stemmed asparagus can look like that. I am almost 100% sure that my meal was microwaved. However...... our server was good, and he was very attentive.
A very pleasant dining experience!
Our go to place for a reliable meal. Service is always great.
Only waiting for a dining room update.
Had a nice dinner after the theatre. Jason was very attentive and let us know all of the specials. Enjoyed sitting at the window by the water. All in all it was a very pleasant experience.
We were celebrating our wedding anniversary along with our Cousin , celebrating happy s Birthday . We enjoyed the view , the service was good , food was very good .
We dined here for our 25th wedding anniversary and had the most spectacular evening. Our waiter Alex was attentive and knowledgeable as well as personable. The food was delicious and the atmosphere was perfect. We will come again for sure!
The restaurant was dated....the best thing was the scenery looking out on the river. The.service was almost non-existent. Really don’t think it was a good experience for the price.
This was my first visit to the Chart House and will probably be my last. The ambiance was good, but other than that, I did not have a good experience. For an appetizer, I ordered a Caesar salad and Lobster Bisque- the salad looked and had a wilted taste - I never received the Lobster Bisque. Our main entrees took over an hour which made no sense - we were given the excuse the kitchen was backed up due to the holiday...I have been to other restaurants that had just as many or even more customers to have to wait for that long period. I think that was poor planning on the management team in accommodating the volume. So when we finally received our food, my shrimp was cold. At this point, I was so tired and hungry, I just ate it. Our waitress was nice, but I think she spent too much time chatting with the table near us talking about her personal life which consisted of her two jobs, boyfriend and commute.
Not worth the time or money!!!!
Great service, food with a view, and easy parking make the Chart House a "special event" occasion. Be prepared to have a slow-paced, relaxing dinner on special occasion days, which is really the point of dining out on a holiday. The mud pie is fabulous!
Once again we were very happy with our dining experience. It was my first trip to the salad bar in years - loved it! Especially the artichoke hearts.
I have been here before and liked it.
On this particular occasion, I was disappointed. I did not think that the buffet was worth $40.
It took to long to replenish the food, and there should have been salad and veggies. Hit good was not hot.
We went for Easter Sunday brunch. The food was very good and a little on the pricey side (but we expected that). Only buffet was available and that's OK too. It appeared that they were always running out of something, which was OK if you don't mind going back. We had an enjoyable experience.
The salmon appetizer was out of this world. Even my wife (who is not a salmon person) lives it. Alex was a great waiter, on top of everything without rushing. My wife and I use the Chart House as our date night away from the kids and we are never disappointed. The appetizers are not only big enough to share, but ordering three or four would be enough for a dinner for two.
Great place. Fabulous view. Food was very good. Women's bathroom needed to be spruced up more.
Great view, better service and best of all, great food. Had a quiet dinner by the window. Shannon was a thorough meticulous server.
My friends and I wanted to have an early dinner on the water and it seemed that chart house fit the bill. Upon arrival the decor was very basic and slightly outdated. Our server was very helpful and knowledgeable. However, the food did not meet our expectations. My cocktail was watered down, the knife and fork soup was extremely salty and luke warm. The macaroni and cheese tasted like it was made from a kraft box (totally tasteless). They serve farm-raised salmon so be sure to inquire before ordering. My prime-rib and filet mignon cuts were a good size however, it lacked seasoning. The lava cake was very spongy and did it not melt in our mouths as the waitress said. Definitely, won’t be dining here again.
Spending time with Grandaughter.
From the greeting to the food to the service, The Chart House is still - after decades - a wonderful place to have an excellent meal. Highly recommended for beef and seafood - both the stuffed shrimp and prime rib are especially excellent.
Didn't understand making reservation and you still had to wait 20 minutes and the mahi was dry .
Very enjoyable. Our server was great. Great view, and food was excellent.
Service was exceptional. The NY Strip was one of the best I've had.
Our waiter was very sarcastic which was a turnoff but the food was awesome! I would still come back here, i’d just want a different waiter.
Nice ambiance. Good food. Romantic date night.
Staying at Hilton and walked to CH. Early enough that we had waterfront seating @ bar. Food was great ambiance was great. Service was not what we would expect from a restaurant off this caliber & price point. I realize this is the bar but server could have been a lot more personable and attentive. Manager did stop by table and was friendly and we had enjoyable conversation.
Waitress was awesome, top notch service!!!
The only down fall was the dessert, the lava cake was overcooked. The rest of the food wwas spot on, perfect.
Great experience steak was cooked perfect to my liking, didn't enjoy the baked potato that much could have been better. Mojito's were awesome as well as the atmosphere and environment. Would definitely recommend
The calamari appetizer was amazing. Everything else was good
It was the worst experience I’d ever had at their establishment...will not be going back in the near future!!
The food and waitress was phenomenal and the manager was very accommodating
Very nice restaurant with a beautiful view.
Good choices of appetizers at Happy Hour.
My only complaint is the choice of music at happy hour, in the bar area.
It was so awful my husband and I had a hard time concentrating on a conversation.
Service was horrible. It was not crowded. Took a long to get water and drinks. We actually needed to say something several times. Mgmt did comp us some things, but a dark cloud hung over the entire evening. Wish it was better
We loved the food and the service was outstanding! Unfortunately, and not the restaurant’s fault, there was a large group (bridal shower) nearby and they were unbelievably loud and rude. Overall our experience was a good one and we would go back.
We were the only couple that didn't cancel because of the bad weather and your staff was oustanding to us--
I love this restaurant. I would go every night if I could.
