Chart House Restaurant - Philadelphia Ratings and Reviews
The appetizer, salad and bread we’re excellent. The crab cakes and stuffed flounder were poor. The crab filling had no lump crab meat. One of the managers discussed the crab cake with us then spent the rest of our stay avoiding us. The restaurant was half empty on a Saturday night, I can see why. We will not be returning.
We were celebrating a special occasion this evening. The wait staff was personable and attentive but the kitchen was very slow. I don't mind not being rushed, but we waited a long time for drinks and appetizers and dessert. I was also disappointed that they didn't have the Ahi Tuna that I was anxious to order. It was a Friday evening and not very late. The food was excellently prepared and delicious.
I always enjoy the Chart House for special occasions. This time however, the hostess was not attentive to seat us when last guest arrived. Also, the temperature inside was cold. For a frosty winter night, we needed to be in a warm place. The food was good except the choc. Lava cake was over baked.
My husband and I were taking my brother and his wife out as a gift. Since we had a Landry Restaurant gift card, and had never been to the Chart House, it was our choice. Food was very good but not spectacular. Waitress was kind, but service was slow. Understaffed? We asked hours ahead of time for waterfront seating. When we arrived, not knowing the restaurant, we were seated on the second floor on the right side, back in the corner, next to a serving station. It was very cold & drafty and the view was much less desirable than what we found after dinner while walking around the rest of the second floor. Lots of empty seats that would have been warmer, more comfortable, with a much prettier view. Not a good first impression, which should be a consideration when serving guests.
I took my husband here for his birthday. It was a Sunday late afternoon/early evening and wasn’t very busy so all of the guests were in the same little section for the most part. Not sure how many servers were on duty but our server was a little slow getting to us. The food wasn’t great but it also wasn’t horrible. I felt like the server was rushing us the entire time we ate. Quick to try to take our plates with each course. Then the server also asked us about dessert in advance during the ordering of our dinner because it supposedly takes 30 mins to make. It was supposed to be a molten lava cake but there was hardly any lava and the cake itself was crusty and hard. I ordered a salad as a starter which looked and tasted like it was soaked in the dressing and had been left out for a while. The server did take it off of my bill. Apps were pretty decent but the main course was just ok. I chose this restaurant due to some of the reviews and the location of it being right next to Moshulu. My husband took me to Moshulu years ago and everything was excellent. I figured Chart House would have similar dining experience but it was a disappointment. Maybe it was just a bad night but Overall I would not go here again by choice.
great choice for evening dinner with our daughter and son in law. Very cold that night so we moved closer to a heat vent and I think the lower floor heater went out so it was cold downstairs but that was to be fixed the next day. We enjoyed the food but especially the time with our family.
We have gone to the Chart House many times for special events, Birthdays, graduations, Anniversaries. We always have had a great experience there. Tonight we waited for an hour for our salads and appetizers. The soups were not hot, a salad was brought out with the entrees, rolls were put on the table an hour after we sat down. The crab legs were not the proper temperature. Members of our family had to leave the table to find out what was going on. If there was a problem, we should have notified on a regular basis as to the progress of the meal. We did enjoy sitting with the outstanding view. The manager did make our bottle of wine complimentary. Certainly not worth the price for the dinner.
Went for Christmas Day dinner. Ordered the prime rib. Cooked ok but way to much fat. Wife only had an appitiser for her main course plus a salad. Told to go to salad bar. I also wanted a salad. Salad bar was out of several items which I found strange. I was charged $9.00 and my wife $18.00. We both only wanted a salad. We will never return do to bad salad bar and $$$$ for the salad!!!!
Chart House was better before takeover by Landry's. Soup could have been hotter. Crabmeat in stuffed flounder neither tasted nor looked like any other crabmeat that two of us had ever had. While asparagus was cooked to al dente perfection and entrees were served on very hot plates, it was not enough to save this restaurant from being added to my NR (Never Return) List.
Took my boyfriend here for a nice birthday dinner. We were very excited since the restaurant looks like a beautiful place and is in a good location. However, even though when we sat down we were one of only 3 parties in the restaurant on a Tuesday night, it took 25 minutes for the waitress to even come over and bring us our waters. Another 20 minutes before we got our drinks and this was after we made a comment. From there, it only got worse. There was a fly in my boyfriend's $14 cocktail, his main course arrived with the wrong topping, and the manager was very unprofessional in addressing the situation - barely bothering to come to a complete stop at our table when he "apologized' about the service. Very, very disappointed and will not be returning.
We were early for our reservation, hostess said we could go to the lounge & she would come get us when our table was ready, so we did, I got a text instead, which I didn't see until we were home because my phone had gone dead earlier in the evening, when nobody came to get us we went and asked the hostess, we were told our table was ready and were taken to our table, our reservation was for 4 but the table was only set for 3, there was only 1 bread plate, I was missing a fork, my husband was missing a knife & spoon, this is in addition to the missing place setting, to make matters worse, the table cover was dirty, not filthy, but there was a dime size stain where my husband sat and one where I sat, we watched the bus person set the table next to us beautifully and asked for a new table cover, he said he would get the manager, he never did, the food was great, our server was decent, however, if I'm paying almost $300 for a meal (w/drinks), I expect the table to be set properly and the table cover to be clean, and the restaurant was not overly crowded so it's not like they were over worked or under staffed, the food saved the night.
Had not been to the Chart House in a long time....and what a pleasant surprise. Food was really great! From a Service perspective the bar tender was professional, friendly, excellent. Our waiter was also friendly and professional. The down fall...why I only rated service very good......the people who take care of seating. They were not attentive, not friendly, and seemed very confused. I am so glad we did not leave based on that. Because everyone else and the food were great!!
We had a great server. Loved the view of the waterfront. Had a negative experience when I detected a piece of metal in my mouth that broke of a kitchen tool used to dice mango into squares. Luckily I didn't swallow it. This happened during the appetizer. The server and manager apologized and provided the appetizer for free. Despite this near disaster, the rest of the meal was pretty enjoyable.
We visited to burn a gift card. This place is all about the river view and ambiance. The service was good but the food was just average, and definitely overpriced since it is. Average except my dry oysters, I guess they were shucked early? The waiter just shrugged really. At $16 for 6 I was not amused.
Chain restaurant that is on the high end. Each restaurant tries to give a little different menu choice or spin to be different from each other. Great view of Delaware River, food is very good good wine list and professional wait staff. Nice place for a good meal
