Chart House Restaurant - Philadelphia Ratings and Reviews
Chain restaurant that is on the high end. Each restaurant tries to give a little different menu choice or spin to be different from each other. Great view of Delaware River, food is very good good wine list and professional wait staff. Nice place for a good meal
We had a great dinner, the clams casino were perfect, the prime rib was the best we ever had and the lobster was very tender and succulent. Our waitress was very attentive and recommended that if we wanted the chocolate desert to order ahead because of the prep time to cook. That was a good choice for us. We would definitely go back again!
Terrible experience. Took forever for the server to get over to us initially then it took 20 mins for our first drink order to come over. Waitress was very apologetic and blamed the bar. We then ordered food and as we were eating our overpriced appetizers we were told that they ran out of shrimp. Keep in mind it was a Friday night and we had the reservation for over a week so there's no excuse. We simply asked for our check as they offered us no other entrees or off menu options. As the waitress brings the check the manager comes over and says they "found" enough shrimp for our entrees. We declined and proceeded to close out and as we got up to leave our food came over to the table. We ignored that and left. You could see that they were just completely disorganized and understaffed. It was a terrible anniversary experience and I will never go there again.
I have been going to the Chart House in Philadelphia since 1988. I will never return again. First we were early for our reservation which wasn't their fault, but the response about moving up the time was "we are seating exactly on time". 20 mins after telling us this, they let in a 21 person walk-in party. This was simply the beginning. After being told we could wait in the bar, we ordered drinks, and were presented with a bill. When I said "can't we just add this to our table bill?" we were told they don't do that. I've done this at the Chart House in the past, and just about every restaurant I've ever visited, but the Chart House no longer does this apparently. When we were seated, and when I say 8pm exactly as our reservation was, no earlier, no later, we were seated downstairs (mind you I made these reservations 2 mos in advance) in the bar area next to a table of 30 teenagers having a party... AND.. the 21 person walk in. The teen's opened the door to the 30 degree outside every 5 mins, carried on high, and it was non-stop noise. And now comes the ordering.... First we try to order one of the appetizers we always order... We were there 8pm on a Friday evening by the way.. "we are out of that appetizer". So we give up and order something else. When we go to order the meal, we wanted to order Ahi Tuna.. "we are out of Ahi Tuna".. This is a seafood restaurant, and this wasn't Sunday night at 10pm, this was the beginning of the weekend. 2 of their menu items consist of Ahi Tuna, and they are out. The lobster bisque was cold, the food was clearly microwaved (hot on the inside, cold on the outside). I ordered stuffed flounder. There was ZERO crab meat in it. All bread. I've had better frozen from the market. Then the manager in some half hearted attempt to apologize for the tuna, apologizes to the wrong table who looked at him like he was crazy. This will be my LAST trip to the Chart House.
We were quite disappointed in our visit. We have been to several Chart house’s before (this one and the one in Annapolis). The service was mediocre and the food was less than spectacular. They seemed to be short on servers and cooks as the salad bar was not refreshed and our food did not come out at the same time. We were in town to see our son for the Army/Navy game (he is a midshipman at USNA) and wanted to have a celebration for him. It was a disappointing experience.
The service was impeccable from Hostess, to Bar Waitress, to Dinner Waitress, to Site Manager. The food was excellent. With 5 in our party we covered all areas of the menu. Literally everything served was excellent. Very nice selection of wine. Bravo Chart House of Philadelphia.
I took my wife here for our 8 year anniversary, & man it was just a amazing experience. The food was excellent. The waiter Jason just was probably the best waiter I had in my life. Amazing kind very kind, friendly, & made me feel like more then a customer. If he made my wife happy I’m definitely happy. The view , the scenery, the food quality, just everything about this place was amazing. Best restaurant I been too in a while can’t wait to go back!
Shannon’s service was very attentive and pleasant. We ordered the lobster bisque and the Thai coconut soup. We both ordered the prime rib. They were out of medium rare, which was a little upsetting but the prepared medium prime rib was delicious. Of course the signature chocolate lava cake was spectacular. Overall a lovely experience.
The atmosphere is beautiful and we were very happy with the staff, view and the majority of the food. We were celebrating my son's birthday and he was so looking forward to a steak dinner. He ordered the Prime Rib medium rare and when it was served it was well done with the apology that due to the crowd at Thanksgiving that was the last piece available. He was not offered any other option and ended up not eating the majority of it. Thank you.
Mom and I were here for Thanksgiving. We had a great view on the 3rd level right in front of the window directly across from Dockside Apartments. Service was good considering our server told us it was her 2nd day on the job. Pluses: bread was served piping hot and the butter was soft. Minus: Kim-chee calamari appetizer not as tender as I would have expected. The menu said it was lightly fried with vegetables but I didn't taste any vegetables, just calamari. Also, when I reheated it at home, a lot of excess oil was released. There's plenty of other good choices in the appetizer list from which to choose. You live and you learn. Good wine list. Mom had the baked stuff shrimp which she enjoyed very much. I ordered the Captain Cut Prime Rib medium rare with mushroom truffle butter which was superb! Yukon Gold mashed potatoes and creamed spinach rounded out my main entree. Both were good. We both swore we didn't have room for dessert but she wound up with the cheesecake and I had the key lime pie. Both were generously sized and yummy. It has been quite a few years since I visited this place and I will definitely keep it on my radar for future outings. Mom enjoyed it so much and is looking forward to coming back again, "Not just for a holiday" were her exact words. At 83 years old, who can argue with that? She gets whatever she wants.
The staff was very inviting and friendly, and our waitress was very informative about the menu items. Food was fantastic, everything tasted delicious and I enjoyed experiencing some new fun flavors. The location of this place is wonderful - you get a nice quiet environment with a peaceful view of the Delaware River. My overall experience was delightful and my boyfriend even enjoyed it, too!
From start to finish, dining perfection. A table overlooking the water was lovely. Nicely prepared cocktails... then a beautifully presented crab, mango and avocado salad, large enough to share. Fresh flavors, with a wonderful pairing of textures. They offer a nice selection of fresh fish. We went with the Chart House Mahi, which was outstanding, and grilled swordfish finished with a tropical salsa. Molten lava cake was decadent and festive, and easily share-able. Great wine selection. A winning evening, in celebration of my husband's birthday!
The server was great!!! Meanwhile the lady at the front desk was very very rude. I asked her a simple question to see if she could put two tables together and she got really rude And ignorant not sure if I wanna come back Because of that. But over all the food was great and our Waiter was very nice and friendly
when ordering a martini I think the glass should be closer to full than empty. The server agreed and had them refill but management seemed unconcerned. As a person who frequently eats here I was more than a little upset. Was not concerned with price but perception of getting a full drink.
Waiter was extremely nice. We had a great table by the water. View was wonderful. No one was at the receptionist desk when we arrived and I had to track down a water to find someone. But that was a minor issue. I would have definitely given this place a higher rating except for the fact that I requested my filet be cooked to medium and it was over cooked to the point of well done. Very disappointing considering the prices.
