We’ve dined at the Chart House before and had a good experience. Unfortunately our recent visit was anything but good. Our waitress was not available. Another waiter came over a few times to see if we were ok or needed anything. We needed to track waitress down for drinks and she forgot a few things we asked for. One of our meals was wrong and she was nowhere to be found. Thankfully the manager happened to pass by to see if everything was satisfactory at which time we told him about the one meal. He took it away and it didn’t come back for 20 minutes. The rest of us were finished eating and my son ate by himself. Manager never followed up on this so I had to go find him to discuss. He said it was their mistake and the meal would come off the bill. He never told the waitress and she brought us the full check. She then had to go discuss with him as we waited again for her. Just a frustrating Easter dinner.
Black & Blue Sword Fish was the best I’ve ever had
We were extremely disappointed in he sub par food that was offered on the Easter buffet- it was as bad as “banquet food.” Such a let down for a special Holiday with my family. The website never stated that only the buffet would be offered. The price of $41 per adult would be acceptable if the food was good. Won’t return, ever.
Over priced for mass produced cold scrambled eggs and cold bacon, complimented with stale
bagels, very disappointing. We always enjoyed this place but the Easter Sunday Brunch or whatever it was supposed to be was awful.
The servers were excellent! This was a great place for Easter brunch. Was a buffet, so something for everyone, including my picky kids. Would have given all stars if it weren't for the manager. He was mostly with the buffet, and every time I went to make a plate, he was barking at someone on his staff. He was very rude to them and made me uncomfortable.
The restaurant is becoming a little dated, but the food still is as good as ever even with a smaller menu. I am worried because I noticed the Chart House that I went to in Clearwater/Tampa is no longer on the chain list. I hope it is not a trend.
Chart House use to be a top notch quality restaurant for elegant, intimate dining. It has gone down since the last time I was there. For starters, the carpets are smelly, dirty and grimy. The tables and chairs need an upgrade. The stairs could pose a tripping hazard and the ambiance is lacking. The food was good but the portion size could be a bit more robust. Dessert (key lime pie) was anything but. It tasted nothing of key lime, just a big, sweet mess. The drinks are pretty solid. Overall nice time for celebrating my anniversary.
We went there for my husband’s birthday and everything was excellent. Even my 17 year old son enjoyed it. The manager made a point of shaking his hand and speaking with him. We all appreciated that. We will definitely be returning.
My wife and I on vacation. Had a window table looking over the Delaware River. Great experience, great service and great food.
Everything was great. Main problem, was the service. My boyfriend and I were here celebrating our anniversary. The first drink he ordered took about 10 minutes after mine to come out and they couldn't find one ingredient to the drink (which we thought was bizzare) so the waiter took it upon himself to order my boyfriend another drink he had inquired about, instead of asking what he wanted instead. The second drink he ordered about 8 minutes before we got our main courses and didn't get it until like 10 minutes after we started eating- we were half way through our meals. That really irritated us. That all being said, the food was delicious and we had a great view. We would return.
Donna was an excellent server. The manager checked on our table twice to confirm everything was satisfactory. Food was great. My blackened snapper had the right amount of seasoning and the snapper had good flavor. Recommended for a great seafood meal.
Worst dining experience I have ever had. Our reservation was for 7pm and the salad bar was over half empty. We went back 3 times for caesar salad that was never refilled. Our escargot appetizer arrived without any escargot. The manager informed us "it was in there". When we showed him, he took it back to the kitchen and returned with the escargot. We had eaten two of the six (two of us were sharing) and they brought us two to replace those, but they were cold! Hadn't been heated. One companions ahi tuna, ordered rare, arrived well done. Her meal was not returned until the rest of us had finished eating. A second bottle of sparkling water was ordered when the entrees arrived. We were finished eating and the server informed us she had ordered it and would be bringing it. Told her never mind I had already eaten my dinner without any water or any other beverage. Snapper Hemmingway looked and tasted like something out of the frozen section at the grocery store - no way was it a piece of fresh fish. I love the Chart House in Annapolis and previously had good experiences in Philadelphia - that was six years ago. The restaurant has definitely gone down hill and is NOT worth the money.
My Boyfriend and I went in for our Anniversary and the server we had, Rebecca, was so sweet. She took her time making us feel special on our special day. I have some dietary restrictions and asked a lot of questions about the menu and she was kind and patient and asked the kitchen if she didn’t know how to answer right away.
Wade and his staff are always great and welcoming. Introduce yourself to him and he is very accommodating . Staff as well is willing to go the extra step.
Amazing dinner and great portions. Mud pie dessert was huge and so good ! We had a nice view of the river too. Noise level was very high however.
We loved it there and our dinners were amazing as always, never had a bad dinner there and have been there so many times. Always Great!! Thank you for a great night out!
whole restaurant smells like cigarettes, especially the restrooms
Everything was wonderful. The food was delicious. The staff was courteous. Our waitress checked with us frequently and made sure our glasses were never empty. The view was gorgeous as well. Highly recommend. I can't wait to go back!
The location was amazing ...food was delicious and staff was so accommodating and phenomenal.
Great service and food!
Excellent food meets poor service. Now, if you want to relax in a restaurant for 3 hours, this is a good place to do it. BUT - if you have additional plans, are seeing a show, etc. and want to eat a nice meal in an hour, hour and a half - don't go here.
First, we had to wait over five minutes to be acknowledged when we walked in (with a reservation).
At the table, we had to chase down the staff to order, find where our food was, get a check, etc. Very frustrating, and caused us issues with our plan for the rest of the night. An hour and a half here isn't enough time to have dinner.
All in all, good food, but don't expect good service.
Hostess was not attentive and took a reservation call instead of seeting us. Property is in need of an upgrade. Food and service was good. After the meal, the same hostess just looked past us and didnt speak. I generally frequent high-end restaurants and the Chart House is absolutely off my list! I will never come back.
Where to begin? Absolutely the worst service I have ever experienced at a nice restaurant, and not sure why. The restaurant was not busy -- perhaps because word is getting around. We're talking a ghost town for a Friday night. Notwithstanding the lack of customers (our waitress only had 3 tables of 2 or 3 diners each, our dinner took nearly 3 hours!
For example, just our drinks before dinner took 20 minutes after ordering to arrive. It went downhill from there. Salad and soup took another 20 to 30 minutes; refills on iced tea would take 10 or 15 minutes after requesting (never offered without me asking); and even my several requests for a straw for my tea went unanswered for at least half an hour. I kept waiting for Candid Camera to jump out, because it seemed so impossible for the level of poor service to be real.
After nearly 90 minutes of waiting for our entrees (!!!), they arrived -- well, for 2 of us anyway. I, however, received the wrong entree. So back went my plate, and back I went to waiting. My food arrived 25 minutes later, after my 2 fellow diners were completely done eating. I ate alone. The food, fortunately at that point, was pretty good, but hard to enjoy given all the other issues.
When the bill came, I expected some degree of courtesy for the terrible service. Something! Should have known better already at that point. But, no, nothing. Not a complimentary cocktail, salad, entree, dessert, or even my iced team. Worst of all, NOT EVEN AN APOLOGY, for making me wait for 2 entrees -- not to mention all of the other delay. It seemed these people at this restaurant could have cared less for us.
I have never written a review. It's not my nature to complain really. But, dear God, I had to say something. I have been to other Chart Houses, and enjoyed them immensely, but I will not ever return to one again now. What terrible disservice, even discourtesy.
This was our second visit and it was as great as the first visit. On both trips, the General Manager came over to visit with us. He had a great time with our 11yo son and even fixed his tie. He’s a true gentleman who runs a great business. The food, service and ambience was top shelf. Thank you.
The server was knowledgeable regarding the menu selections. He pointed out the apps but wasn’t pushy about it
Oysters were mistreated. One had sand, two others were poorly shucked and dry when served.
3 out of 6.
Main courses ok, but standard.
Wine list limited.
Our reservation was at 6pm. We waited almost 30 minutes for our table. Ordered a beer with my cocktail. Reminded the waitress 3 times to please bring my beer. After 20 minutes went by after asking for the beer I asked her to cancel. She kept apologizing and saying it wasn't her fault. It took over an hour to receive our food. Meanwhile, the man sitting at the table next to us continued to have loud conversations on his cell phone. We finished our meal and asked the waitress for our check. The beer that I asked the waitress to cancel was still on my bill. While the food was good, the service was horrible coupled with the loud tone of voice coming from the gentleman on his cell phone was less than acceptable.
The server, Ernest, was EXCELLENT! Atmosphere was amazing.
Birthday dinner. Food was great. Service was good. Ambiance was ok. The restaurant could use some updating/renovations.
We had a great waiter very social and attentive. The food was great except the shrimp I had with scallops the shrimp was over cooked and dry. The scallops were creamy and charred perfect. The swordfish was excellent
Being from North Jersey Chart House Weehawken was one of my favorite places to dine. I was so excited when I relocated to South Jersey to find Chart House Philly. Everything was amazing. I can't wait to go back.
Absolutely wonderful food and service. An amazing experience overall.
Went during Happy Hour from 4:30-7 on a Tuesday in March. GREAT view. GREAT Happy Hour menu!!!
Beautiful setting, great service and good food, great views
Everything was great; food waiter and the view was amazing.
I had a great time celebrating my Boyfriend's birthday! The window view is to die for! He loved it so much!
