Wonderful evening with my sister. Food, service and ambiance were super!
Perfect experience for a very special 80th birthday dinner. Service was impeccable. Food was great. The view is the most beautiful in Cincinnati by far. This is a gem that seems to fly under the radar.
Vince was a stud. Great food.
Chart house is a little expensive. The overall experience was excellent. The food was amazing and the service was excellent! It was bitter cold outside and the sun just went down. We requested a window seat and it was a bit chilly. The waiter asked us if we were comfortable and he adjusted the temperature. Within 15 minutes, the restaurant was warming and comfortable
We had a great experience. We look forward to our next visit.
We arrived early for our reservation and were seated immediately. Everyone was extremely personable. Our server was fantastic and the manager was genuinely appreciative.
I had a very lovely business meeting at Charter House. The wait staff and servers were very professional. The food was superb. We enjoyed a wonderful view of Cincinnati with views for all diners. Thank you for a wonderful experience. I will bring colleagues who visit the city on business again. Covington and Newport provide everything my team and clients need. Thank you.
We went for my fiancé’s birthday and got in earlier than our reservation and they even had a special menu that said “happy birthday”. Great touch. Our waiter was very informative and helped us since it was our first time at the restaurant. My fiancé got the snapper Hemingway and it was delightful. I ordered the chef’s special of mahi mahi with a crab cake and was overwhelmed with the amount of food. It was delicious! Will return again for special occasions.
Early dining menu is a good deal. The salmon entrée was excellent but the prime rib was not up to the usual standard.
We had a great dinner! We. Fought along a good friend to enjoy the ambience, and she couldn’t have been more pleased. We had a table by the big window next to the great Riverside View. My husband enjoyed the Salad bar so much, that our friend decided to join him. All in all a great evening.
I took my boyfriend here for his birthday and had a wonderful time; the menus even read “Happy Birthday” at the top. We were seated at a table by the window with a gorgeous view. Our server Amy was most helpful by recommending what he should order: the snapper Hemingway was delicious! We also ordered the shrimp beignets that were yummy. I ordered the stuffed flounder, and while it was good, the snapper was much better. We loved it and would definitely return.
Going out for dinner on NYE is never a good idea, but usually it's because the service isn't great due to crowds. This time the service was great but the food...not so much. Expensive and poor quality. We won't return, NYE or otherwise.
We had reservations for New Years Eve as we had done the previous year. Our table was not ready at the reservation time when we arrived and when they did seat us in an elevated corner booth, we quickly noticed the tabletop was wobbly and unstable. It was just a napkin-under-a-table-leg-fix. We spilled water just getting into the booth. It was pretty bad. The server was aware of this and mentioned she had asked for it to be repaired. They happily sat us in another booth at the other end of the restaurant. Now I know it’s NYE, but based on reservations they should know how many people will they will be serving, so we were perplexed that it took a full hour to get our initial drink order and over 1.5 hrs. to place our food order...no bread, only one refill of empty water glasses in that 1.5 hr. wait. We had to flag down a passing server to ask if we could request a starter and he was bothered that we asked him to place an order (because by then it was 9:30 at night). He made sure he identified who our server was and flagged him over to pass along our request and openly smirked about it Our server was pleasant, but it was really clear they were overbooked, understaffed, and stressed. We were there a full 3.5 hrs. for our table of four to complete our meal. We’ll find another restaurant to celebrate NYE next year.
Crowded, waited 20 mins for served, then 30 mins for drinks with only wAter at the table... New Year’s Eve was not a good night to go since they added more tables to the floor and not enough serverd
New Years Eve. Great view, service was outstanding. The food was great, as always.
Prime rib was tough which was not our comment alone. While waiting for valet service there were several conversations about the food being unsatisfactory. We have been to other Chart Houses with positive experiences, but we will not return to this one.
Party of four, we had a short wait, the food was very good, the waitress, and all the staff, were very professional. All in all a very positive experience!
Exceeded expectations! Great food, service, and location! Highly recommended and will return!
Our server Chelsea was great. Attentive friendly and knowledgeable. The food was excellent as always.
The Chart House is my favorite restaurant on the Ohio river. The ambiance and service are excellent. The maître d always comes by to make sure service was excellent. When we invited a visitor with food allergies to come along to the restaurant she was able to consult the restaurant before hand. A sui chef came by the table to discuss options. She mentions the Chart House favorably each time she has talked to us since.
What a view! Great view of the Cincinnati skyline. Food was exceptional. The special drink menu offered interesting options. I recommend the mojito flight. I don't often drink, but I could not resist it.
Went with my sons (one from Chicago, one from here), a new girlfriend (love her!), and the love of my life! Food, service (go Geo!), view - all awesome!
What an outstanding place to celebrate an anniversary or other special occasion. We were treated as royalty with a special window seat and view of the river and downtown Cincinnati and our service was way beyond excellent. Our waiter was good and friendly and the manager visited us twice and thanked us again on our way out. The prime rib was excellent! This restaurant goes to the top of our list
Almost everything was exceptional as with the many previous visits
Wonderful Christmas Eve dinner! Although very crowded service was excellent!
My only complaint was small children running around bar area and in dining room....
Realize there is not much you can do but parents should be warned that kids could get hurt.
For several years I worked in a specialty womens shop and we had he same issues..
We visited on Christmas Eve with a party of 6 including my elderly mother. Despite a reservation, we were seated 30 minutes late. The restaurant was extremely busy - apparently over 500 reservations when their normal is 300. Our server was very apologetic about the wait and brought us complimentary lobster bisque. The view is spectacular and there was a very festive (though noisy) vibe. Two of our selected entrees were no longer available (at 6:00) but everyone enjoyed their meals. I thought it was a bit overpriced. I would likely visit again-but not on a holiday.
Great location with fabulous view of Ohio River and Mt. Adams. Wine and cocktail choices a plenty. Ordered the steak and lobster which was succulent and delicious. Mackenzie our server was attentive and provided great service. The restaurant was noisy but it was Christmas Eve.
Appetizers were nice, although Coconut Shrimp was all coconut, little shrimp. Snapper Hemingway entree was delicious, prime rib was too salty, very fatty, generally unacceptable, king crab was nothing special (little flavor at all). Our server neglected to tell us that the lava cake for dessert required an additional 30 minutes, so we did not order it. The mini creme brulee was delicious, and I would definitely order again.
Overall, for a meal upwards of $350 before tip, it had it's ups and downs.
First off McKenzie was an excellent server! The grouper was cooked perfectly. I was disappointed in the prime rib. Asked for medium. It was pink but dry.
Excellent server. The fish entree's were very good but a problem with the fillet. Ordered it to be medium rare, was medium well done. Because the restaurant was very busy (Christmas Eve) decided not to complain to the Server. Guess we should know better then order steak in basically a seafood restaurant.
Christmas Eve dinner was suburb. Had a very good time.
Wonderful family holiday dinner!
We had dined done years ago at the Chart House in St Thomas which was fabulous. Several years ago we dined at the Newport Kentucky unit and had an OK experience. Since we had not been there for a few years we thought we would try it in advance of our family coming into town for the Christmas holidays.
We arrived about an hue before our reservation and checked in with the hostess and informed her we were going to enjoy a drink at the bar-lounge first.
My wife asked for a wine on the menu and the waitress said that it was not available during "Happy Hour". My wife said OK and I suggested she try a small sample first. While the waitress was getting her sample, my wife said it makes no sense since the menu expressly lists the wine which the waitress said was not available on the menu as a choice. When the waitress returned with the sample, I pointed it out on the menu and the waitress agreed it was in fact available and apologized and said she was new.
After enjoying an appetizer with our drinks, my wife ordered another wine from the waitress and the waitress informed her it was seven o'clock and she could not provide the drink at the Hsppy Hour price. Just a few hours before, I had set my watch via the satellite. It was 6:58 PM. The waitress offered to get a manager. I declined as our table was ready and told my wife to order whatever wine she wanted at the table. The entire episode was bizarre as the service in the bar was lackluster at best as we had to be on the lookout for the waitress!
While the service in the dining room was good, the food was average at best and my wife's salmon was in her words -"awful". The restaurant was very accommodating and offered her another entree of her choice. She declined. The manager did "comp" her dinner as she could only eat a few bites.
Before we left the building, my wife used the ladies room which she described as sub-par.
We had a lovely anniversary dinner there and enjoyed are time very much. The food was excellent and service perfect. We'll be back!
Great food. Great service. Great view. Well done.
Wonderful salad bar! Virtually a meal in itself, with many, many, very good options for toppings.
Our group of five were celebrating girls night out for the holidays. The food and service were exceptional. Our reservations were for 5:30 pm on a Sunday. Only complaint was that “Happy Hour” prices were not mentioned and that would have been appreciated.
We have eaten here several times in the past and this was the first time we had a negative experience. We were there during (it appeared) during an exceptionally busy time and (it appeared) that they were understaffed. We were there for my son's birthday and I am glad I brought his dessert because we rarely saw our server (who was lovely when she was around). The $18/pp salad bar needed to be replenished so there were several items we were not able to choose. We only had one round of drinks because by the server came back she was serving us dinner. It was really drafty where we were seated so we were really cold and our food became cold quickly as well. The food delivery person dropped one of my shrimp on the floor (he brought me another one) and the server dropped a butter knife on my back (fortunately it only got my hair dirty instead of my coat). We waited a super long time for the cupcakes that I brought and such a long time for her to get our bill that instead of using our credit card we just pooled all of our cash so we could leave. It is unlikely that we will come back which means I need to find another place for coconut shrimp for my son.
