Chart House Restaurant - Monterey Ratings and Reviews
The Chart House never dissapoints. We dine here at least once a year for our anniversary. This year, we went for our birthdays too. They service is impeccable and they pay attention to detail. The food is always cooked to perfection, and the pricing will not break your pockets.
I have requested for the best table in the restaurant. They first gave me a table with a view of a hotel and partial water view. I had to requested to sit at the one “corner table by the window/water” but I ended up just moving one table right next to the original table. I was little disappointed since it was my special day(birthday and first time in Monterey chart house). When I asked to be moved, the staff laughed at me and this person was no longer our waiter/waitress because of the section. Our waitress overall was okay. Nothing extra. Waiter/waitress did forgot my drink. My prime rib I requested medium rare but it was close to rare. Lobster on the side was dried up horrible for $30. I realized sometimes, going to a regular restaurant to celebrate my special occasion can be better and with better services. Fancy restaurant, people come in to spend money money to receive almost if not perfect service and this wasn’t the place. Also, this restaurant cannot see a sunset unless I was seated at the wrong table. All the request I had on opentable wasn’t granted.
Bar service was great while waiting for our table. Waitress was horrible, either too busy or not attentive enough, not sure. We didn’t get our wine that we wanted for dinner until we were half done. My prime rib was barely warm. Asked for straight horseradish and waited at least 10 minutes. Creamed spinach was great. The gentleman who walks around asking how things were was wonderful. Poor guy had to clear our table when finished because no one else bothered to. For the amount of money spent have been to better places.
Our first time to Chart House and it was a great experience. Miguel took great care of us! We started off with the calamari and it is very, very good and a huge portion! It's not your typical fried calamari but don't let that scare you...it's amazing! The prime rib had a great flavor and my husband loved the creamed spinach. The lava cake was to die for. We thought the prices were reasonable for the quality and ambiance. Highly recommended!
Been here 3 times, Always had a great time my wife & kids, Excellent food & atmosphere great view along with excellent service, Thank you Brittney!! You ever come to dine at this establishment ask for Brittney she's an awesome server. We'll be back again when we come back in town.
Celebrated my Daughter's birthday with her husband, 2 year old grandson and my wife. Service was excellent from the hostess greeting, to be seated, drink service and food. Pre-ordered the lava cake for dessert due to prep time. Pandeed chicken, white sea bass and coconut crusted shrimp entrees were all worth ordering (again). I am not a chocolate lover and had the key lime pie for dessert (huge slice). Nice, unhurried dinner and well behaved 2 year old!
I treated myself to a nice dinner out alone, so I sat at my table reading a book the whole night. The waiter was very polite and attentive, he checked on me regularly to ensure I didn’t need anything. He also made sure my appetizer and entree were to my liking. It wasn’t too loud for me to focus on my book, but there were other groups there that still felt comfortable enjoying each other, which, for me, is that perfect sweeet spot with a restaurant; you want to enjoy yourself with out disturbing others. Overall, it was a great experience and I will definitely go back, alone or with company.
Took our teenagers for a special night out while visiting Monterey. Everything was wonderful except... our table was one that converted from a square four top to a round 6 top. The leaves folded under the table for the four top. Or they were supposed to do so. One would not lock, so we brought it to the attention of our server. She stated that they new this table had an issue and offered to turn it so that the broken part was at my 14 year olds place, since she is the smallest of us. Good idea, but it bothered even my daughter. I wound up having to sit with a heavy table leaf resting on my thighs for the entire night as they were no other tables available for us. It wasn't terrible, but I expect more from a find dining establishment that charges the prices they do. If the table is broken, fix it or replace it. Don't make diners deal with it.
Other than that, our experience was great. The food was delicious, the view amazing and the wait staff attentive. Everything you look for when dining out.
My husband had a wonderful experience. Our server Aimee was exceptional. Very attentive. Enjoyed the warm rolls and butter that were served quickly. I had cioppino which was amazing. Plenty of rich scallops, mussels and prawns. There were 2 large crab legs and tender pieces of white fish too. The soup was traditional in a great way. Came with toasted buttered bread. My husband had warm spinach salad which was very good, but needed a dash of salt. Large portion and enough to share with me. My husband had the 14 oz NY strip steak. It was cooked perfectly, but he had to add salt and steak sauce. The char was good, but initial seasoning was bland. He did not order any extra steak toppings. Mashed potatoes were very good. For dessert, we had the hot chocolate molten lava cake with vanilla ice cream and coffee. So good. Was too full to eat the entire dessert. No alcohol with our meal.
Awesome dinner! We had an early reservation, 5:00 pm, it’s my 53rd birthday, so late nights are no longer my thing, hahaha!
Anyhow, our table was beautiful, our server, Tony, was very good, knowledgeable, attentive and kind. (Let him know that we didn’t steal his pen, we didn’t have one in the bill book:)
The mojito flight is a stroke of genius idea for a cocktail choice. Amazingly good!
Dinner, filet with blue cheese, Yukon garlic mashed potatoes, creamed spinach (for me, hubby is opposed to veggies), crab cake for the hubby, all super delicious, and perfectly cooked.
We finished with the lava cake, which basically finished us, and we are contemplating whether 7pm is too early for bed!
Thank you! Thank you! It was a great time!
I ordered a rib eye steak price $35. It was very dry. I ordered it med rare. Very little juice, not very tasty. It was not tender.
I am not sure if I will visit again.
The potatoes were also dry, and not very warm.
We have dined there many times over 15 years. This was the least enjoyable visit yet. We were a party of 6.
Wait staff was great
Reservation was great on the internet.
My girlfriend and I ate here for our one year dating anniversary and we had a great dinner experience. The service was very attentive and friendly, giving good suggestions for drink and entree options. The waterfront table viewing the orange moon over the Monterey Bay was very special, and we enjoyed our meals a lot.
Been going thee for years, the only thing that still is good is the salad bar.
Steaks were over cooked and service was below average, overpriced for the food quality.
They need to get rid of the booths, terribly inconvenient when everyone has to get out so you can go to the salad bar.
My boyfriend and I spent our Anniversary Dinner at Chart House Restaurant in Monterey. It was amazing, from the view of the ocean, watching otters and seals out the window at our table. To the food, wine and service from our awesome waiter, Warren! He gave us great options and recommendations which we were both so happy with. Leading with fresh Oysters and perfectly cooked calamari. Fresh caught salmon with a lovely light Argentinian Malbec was the perfect pairing for our main course. Finished off with the Hot Chocolate Lava Cake - OMG! This will definitely be a special spot for the years to come and we can't wait to come back!!
My husband and I spent our 2nd anniversary in Monterey and we chose the Chart House for our first night of dining. It is a beautiful, cozy and romantic restaurant. They personalized our menus to say, “Happy Anniversary!!!” The staff was very welcoming. The food was excellent. I will be coming again. Thank you for a lovely evening. Here’s to more of them in the future.
This was one of the best dining experiences I have had in a long time. Sat us at our reservation time, in a window with a view of the ocean. Warren was our waiter and he was excellent. He knew the menu well, was efficient and friendly. The food was exactly as we liked it. Fillet Mignon was perfectly cooked as well as the Sea Bass. Nice atmosphere, quiet, well lite (I could actually read the menu without a flashlight) and everyone was friendly.
I will definitely go again and recommend it to friends.
