Chart House Restaurant - Melbourne Ratings and Reviews
The restaurant was very cold - we were all bundled up in sweaters and the A/C was running full blast. We went for Sunday brunch which had a very limited menu and prices were extremely high. Had Eggs Benedict (egg whites were runny) which included Canadian bacon, English muffin and home fries. That plus a cup of coffee was $30 plus tax plus tip which meant almost a $40 brunch. Can get much better brunch for 1/4 of the price elsewhere.
Went for a birthday dinner. Food and service were great. Only problem was we were seated next to two tables with about 10-12 people at them each on a normal quiet Wednesday night. Very noisy. Hard to hear within our party of 4. Especially paying $240 for a classy dinner. Now I've always like this spot for b-days and dates, but we were just in a terrible cornered spot. The large groups that came in right after us were in t-shirts, sandels and basketball shorts. Obviously a work dinner for them. Not too comfy this night. For some reason I thought this place was supposed to be a little more upscale then that.
Several menu items were unavailable on multiple occasions. We weren’t told that until 15 minutes after ordering.
They served pasta with a gluten free order (not gluten free pasta.)
An order of a salad entree never came out. After all the other guests were served, she was told to go make her own salad at the salad bar (which she had wanted to avoid.)
Loved the Coconut Shrimp appetizer with three tasty sauces. Avocado Mango appetizer was also delicious and the presentation was beautiful. Service was excellent. We did not feel rushed. I did not like the cocktail I selected and they promptly exchanged it for a glass of wine that I thoroughly enjoyed. Will be back!
We went tothe Chart House in Melbourne for a colleague's retiremnet celebration.
One of our guests were in a wheel chair so the staff gave us a round table in the corner that was perfect for us.
There was a last minute addition to our six guests and the staff made the needed accommodations.
The food was cooked perfectly and the staff was pleasent also.
Our food and table service,Ginger, was superior and could not have been any better! The salmon and snapper were cooked perfect. We will definitely return very soon! My only negative comment is the bar server Kim,she needs to attempt a smile occasionally, not personable at all.
Thanksgiving 2017. Made a reservation 3 weeks out; the Charterhouse even called to confirm we’d be there 3 days before. Get there and we are informed that seating will be at least an hour past our reservations. They were not doing anything for people waiting; not even handing out water. We had to stand outside because the inside was packed and it turns out only one hostess of three was coming out to call parties. Another patron inside had to tell the 25 or so people outside that they were jumping past reservations because people outside were not claiming them. We were one of those people.
Finally seated at 8 pm for a 6:45 reservation and it took 5 mins for our sever to even come to the table; another 10-12 mins past that to get drinks. Both of us had the thanksgiving plate which took over a half hour to come and the food was cold and dry. The pie was literally still frozen when served for desert.
All this and we weren’t even offered any compensation for the late reservation and cold food. Not even an apology for over booking.
We were there on Thanksgiving. Reservations were obviously overbooked causing reserved seating to be delayed 30-35 minutes. However, once we were seated, we were taken very good care of by Jennifer. The food, as always, was excellent. We were fortunate enough to have a waterfront/window table and enjoyed the view. Will definitely return.
It was Thanksgiving so you would expect a wait. The wait was about 20 minutes beyond the reservation time. However, the service, food and atmosphere was very good. I would definitely come back. I selected this location sight unseen with a recommendation from a local friend. I drove from St Augustine to have dinner with family at this restaurant and I was not disappointed.
We went for Thanksgiving Dinner. We ordered the turkey and fixings plate. The turkey was processed and dry, although they said it was real turkey. It tasted like a processed turkey roll. I did not eat it. The stuffing was over-salted, I did not eat it. The pumpkin pie had a horrible crust, and the pie itself did not have flavor. I was very disappointed in the meal as a whole. The good? the view out the lovely windows of the water was great! The service was so/so.
My wife and I were celebrating our 9th Wedding Anniversary and she wanted to dine at the Chart House for it's great food and ambiance. We have celebrated other occasions there and this time as all others did not disappoint. From the moment we walked in we were treated like we were special guests, the server was very friendly and was very good at describing the different options we had. As we left the restaurant my wife and I were trying to compare the Chart House with any other restaurant we have visited and honestly the only one that compares is a very fine dining experience on board the Royal Caribbean cruise ship. We will continue to dine at the Chart House when we want a quiet, romantic setting that offers Great food and service.
We arrived and was not able to park ourselves. Had to valet park. Complementary valet parking. Of course I still felt obligated to tip the valet. It's a good thing my wife had cash because I didn't. We were seated promptly with a beautiful view of the river. The restaurant was fairly quiet. Our server was prompt to greet us. She didn't seem to know the menu well. When asked for her recommendations, she couldn't give more than a generic response. She did tell us that there was something on the menu she would not order but didn't tell is what it was. I ordered the special, a salmon steak on quinoa and greens something....very forgettable. It was very bland. Nothing on the fish whatsoever. The dressing on the quinoa was very bland. My wife's meal was a little better, a breaded snapper with a side of rice. Just not enough of the sauce that they put on top. Maybe a 1/2 teaspoon of it. Made the fish very dry to eat plain. The only saving grace was the dessert. A chocolate lava cake that was delicious. If I had to go again I would probably just get dessert and enjoy the beautiful view.
It was excellent. From the valet parking to the cocktail at the bar before dinner to the table and dinner it was a great evening.
Our waiter, Gerry, was top notch. . . Not only at our table but all his tables. Really a gem.
The food was excellent as was the atmosphere. We’d recommend Chart House with 5 stars *
It’s great that they I offer special during the week - like Wednesday an app with a cocktail for 10. Okay I get that it’s a promotion to build the bar business and having been in the business for years realize booze is where you make the dollar. However it should be offered to anyone who is having dinner in my opinion. Restaurants ALL seem to have stepped back from cordially even offering you a complimentary after dinner drinks - you have to extend some courtesy to those dropping a couple hundred dollars plus tip - you treat each customer like they are a quest in your home. Excellent food, nice portions and great staff
Very disappointed! We wanted a long time to get our food because there was a large party there. When we finally got the food it was over cooked. Very noisy place. They have a salad bar which just doesn’t fit in with a place that is supposed to be high end. Our waiter was very nice and the view is beautiful! We won’t go back except for the appetizer happy hour.
Went to celebrate a friend's birthday; it's a tradition to dine at the chart House for his birthday every year, and we're used to the birthday wishes with a small piece of cake at the end of dinner. Unfortunately this time nothing, not even a birthday wish from the server. In fact the serve left early and disappeared after just throwing the check on the table.
Loved the ambiance but the service is too intense. The waiter pushed extras to the extreme. The food is good but not fantastic. Everything is ala carte. The view is the big draw but once the sun goes down, you better have a good looking dinner companion willing to pay the hefty bill.
Two in our party were having an anniversary. I happened to mention it when I made my reservation on O.T. When we were seated, our menus had "Happy Anniversary" printed at the top, and there was a card signed by the wait staff on the table. A nice touch. It would have been even nicer if they had comped them a couple of glasses of champagne. They could easily afford it because everything is on the verge of being over-priced. The total bill with tip for 5 was about $330 and only 2 of the 5 were drinking alcohol (a total of 4 drinks). That said, the food is good and we had a good time. The service was solid. I think in the daytime the view is probably really nice, but we were there at night.
It was our wedding anniversary and I made a reservation for 6:15, and was not seated until nearly 7. The service started out ok, but then became non-existent. We ordered our food very quickly after being seated, and did not receive our entrees until almost 8 p.m. In that time period the waitress never came to check on us and we were to the point of just having them box up our food, so we could go home. Being our anniversary and my wife being pregnant, the long wait and lackluster service was not the way we wanted to spend our last child free anniversary. Although the food and ambience was good, it wasn't so good that it counter balanced the experience of overall bad service. The best service we had all night was from the valet guy, who was great and I wanted to tip him more than the waitress.
