Chart House Restaurant - Melbourne Ratings and Reviews
We have enjoyed every visit (about four per year) to the Chart House Melbourne over the last seven years. Food is always excellent and the staff make you feel comfortable and welcome from the moment you pull up to the moment you get back in your car. We love the crab, avocado, and mango stack for an appetizer and will get that to share almost every time. The tuna, coconut shrimp, calamari and hummus are also excellent. The Snapper Hemingway Entree is an incredible dish whether fish lover or not. There is always a large choice of fresh fish along with great prime rib or steak. We recommend the Chart House for a relaxed, warm, inviting restaurant with consistently great food and service.
Dined at Chart House for our traditional New Years Eve party. As always, all of the staff are very friendly, professional, knowledgeable, attentive and "customer focused" and the food was outstanding! Best salad bar in Melbourne!
Only criticism would be that the noise level doesn't allow for a normal conversation. Don't understand why most restaurants have excessive noise levels that spoil an intimate dining experience. There must be some way to quiet down a restaurant. Very annoying!
Nice restaurant, good service. Food was ok, but not worth the price we paid.
Nice of the waiter to bring us bread, but nothing special about it. Just talk to anybody who has ever been to Red Lobster, those people remember the bread.
The appetizer, Shrimp, Crab, Vegetable Fritters was the best part of the meal.
We both had a fish dish, I had the Snapper Hemingway, fish was nice but the rice was blah. I asked for hot sauce to go with it, but never got it, so ate very little of the rice.
My wife's meal had the wrong sides twice. By the time she got it back, she did not want me to complain again.
She was not impressed at all.
Nice restaurant but not worth the money.
My family enjoyed the ambience of this restaurant, great service, our waitress was wonderful. The food was delicious . The scenic view was beautiful , this is my second time at the Charthouse, first time was in Savannah GA, will definitely be dining there again!
Sir. This was our first time at your fine place. It was very busy the staff in the dining room were very good,it was a long day for them .We had a reservation for 7-15 pm that evening. I check in and was told about ten min. This was fine I said we would be out the door with other others,as the bar looked something like a sardine can. The lady on the desk said that that was fine they will call us.So out we went , after 45 min I returned to the desk and was told ( WE WERE LOOKING FOR YOU! ). This did not sit well, as we were only not more than thirty ft from the door, under the canopy . Other wise it was very nice time for my self and the others with me. Mark Hetherington
While the salad bar was good, I was a bit disappointed with the tenderloin. There was quite a bit of fat and not much lean meat..
If not for the salad bar and bread, I would have left feeling a bit hungry.
Also, parking was a problem. I was not aware that the valet parking was virtually mandatory. The attendant tried to guide me into a parking space and I ended up running over a red cone. That was not a pleasant experience.
It was a fabulous Christmas dining outside at this Chart House, where it was quiet (unlike inside dining) dining on a deck/dock. They had had heaters just in case it cooled down. Definitley a great restaurant for seafood lovers - I really enjoyed the Macademia crusted Mahi!
This is the fourth year we have spent Christmas Day at the Chart House and as usual we have had delicious dinner and excellent service. I always amazes me that the Manager is able to visit each table and extend greetings and make sure everything is alright. Something like that does not happen on a holiday in most places. We will be coming back for a fifth time in 2014.
Over crowded, waited 40 minutes before being seated even with reservations. Service was bad, didn't ask what I wanted instead of what I ordered because they ran out, had to ask multiple times for a water refill, didn't ask how the food was. If he did we would have told him it stunk. We could have cooked better on an off night too.
Even though we had a reservation, we waited 30 minutes for a table and were seated on the "tented" deck in plastic lawn chairs-- not what you would expect at a white-table cloth restaurant with entrees $27-$45. Our server was deadpan and looked depressed, possibly because she had to work on Christmas Eve. She never smiled once, and while not rude, it seemed as if she was patiently enduring her shift. . Being Christmas Eve, the place was packed, and we had to maneuver our way to the overpriced salad bar, weaving and bobbing through others' tables-- there was no direct path for foot traffic. Felt sorry for the patrons seated near that $16.99 a plate salad bar. I've seen better salad bars at Sonny's & Ruby Tuesdays.
I have had a reservation on Christmas eve for probably 20 yers. This was the worst ever. 30 or more minute delay, way too noisy no place to sit. long wait for food. King Crab legs were not split, not enough drqwn butter, bread service lacking stuck in the back room with large noisy crows.. not a pleasant exxperience and I was very disappointed. Parking attendants were, as always, courtes and pleasant.
This was our Christmas Eve dinner. We had reservations and still waited. The view was beautiful. The service was attentive, but could not follow directions and was not helpful to us in making selections (since we had never been there before). When I asked her if there were any appetizers on the menu that were not seafood (my husband does not eat seafood) she suggested shrimp or shellfish!? The salad bar was nice, but was lacking lettuce. Generally the one item you usually start with to build a salad. The attendant felt that his priority was to refill some of the toppings instead of replacing the empty bowl of lettuce/salad for the customers standing in front of him with empty plates. Signature dessert a waste of time. We will NEVER go back
Making a reservation was so easy, I did it online just a few days before our anniversary. Our table was ready when we got there. I was a tad worried with all the large parties that we'd get lost in the shuffle, but they sat us at a lovely table in a quiet room. We even had a view of the river. Our waiter, Gerry, was perfect, very knowledgeable and friendly. Everyone was friendly, in fact. Very relaxing for an upscale atmosphere. Our fillets were cooked perfectly, mine medium rare and his medium. If it's your thing, get the gazpacho! I loved it. Could not have had a better night and looking forward to a return visit soon.
and on the Friday before Xmas, it was extremely loud. Hard to judge anything except we were seated promptly and the waitress made no mistakes. Part of the time we had to shout across our round banquette table to be heard. There was an exceptionally loud table adjacent to ours. The traffic to the salad bar and back added to the confusion and tight quarters. Not as large as other Chart Houses, but for Melbourne it is upscale.
Chart House is one of my favorite restaurants in Melbourne. I was very disappointed in this last visit. My dish, which was the salmon with mashed potatoes, was very dry. It was if it had sat under the hot lamp too long. It also seemed like it took a very long time between the time we were given bread and the time we received dinner. The restaurant was not packed at the time so I don't know why there was this large time gap. The dessert which was the lava cake (two), one was perfect the other over-cooked. The bill also was embarrassing. We ordered two bottles of wine which we split among three ladies. When the bills came, two were charged and the third was not, which meant we had to deal with dividing the bill at the table, ugh!
The food is always great at Chart House. We were not seated with a water view, probably because we were 'just' three ladies out for dinner. We felt quite rushed through dinner, our reservation was for 6:30 and we were done by 7:40. Our monthly dinners usually last at least two hours, even at more casual restaurants. It was quite disappointing to be rushed through a special evening in a very expensive restaurant.
It seems this establishment has become more of a business networking restaurant than a nice evening with friends and loved ones. We will probably not be back, but instead return to the other fine dining restaurants in the area where we can relax and enjoy the food, wine and conversation.
Salad bar prepper could do better. A few dishes had on scraps left in the bottom of the bowl and crakers were stale!
The Prime had to be returned due to it was on fairly luke warm and cut very unevenly across. Noted lack of proper paying attention to detail or complacencey occurring for a first time in year's at the Melbourne, Fl Chart House!
For many years the Chart House was one of the best restaurants in the Melbourne area. Based on three recent visits it would not be in the top 50 in Melbourne. Food quality is on a par with a lower end, chain steak house so prices are out of line. Not likely to visit again.
Our family enjoyed a wonderful dinner at Chart House. We were celebrating our son's graduation from FIT. The food was excellent. It was very crowded as it always is during the Christmas holidays. But we had no trouble getting to and from the salad bar. I'm planning to have my birthday celebration here later this month. I have had my birthday dinner here for the last 30 years.
Our reservation was for 7:30, but we arrived about 6:45 and they seated us early. We were seated at a table next to the bar and it was packed with folks standing along with every seat taken at the bar. Everything was perfect except that we felt a bit rushed and did not say anything to our waiter until we got to desert. I wish I had said something sooner to our waiter, so I will take at least part of the blame for the timing. Our waiter was very pleasant and professional as has been our experience at every Chart House we visit. This was our first visit at this location in Melbourne and we will return the next time we are in town.
We were there for a birthday party. My favorite appetizer is the hummus with plantains. The spinach salad is awesome after I eliminated the eggs and bacon dressing and had the chef add kidney beans, garbanzo beans, beets with a vinaigrette dressing.
I have previously had the veggie pasta bowl there. I enjoyed it then, but........on the last occasion it was VERY disappointing. I am not sure if I will order that dish again.
I ordered the creme brûlée....that was to die for.
The service was a bit slow. On the whole it was a pleasant evening with my friends.
I will give the Chart House another chance.
Also I do think the valet parking should be optional when parking is available.
My husband and I don't have a Chart House Restaurant near us so we always dine here when visiting the Melbourne area. We are big fans of the restaurant. I have been visiting this location for 20+ years. Five years ago we had a small wedding in the area held our reception dinner here.
Celebrated our five year anniversary last week in Melbourne and reserved a table for two that night. We were very much looking forward to our anni dinner. The restaurant and bar area were hopping- we arrived on a Monday during Happy Hour. The food was OK to good. The service was poor. We were very surprised to say the dinner we had the night before at a different restaurant was better. I still would recommend this restaurant. Off night?
As usual this Chart House was great! Our waitress got us our drinks very quickly, despite a packed bar. The food was a little slow coming out, but they said that they had to fresh-shuck our oysters, so I guess that can take a long time.
Once we got our food, it was delicious and well worth the wait. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone that wants great seafood in a great setting in the City of Melbourne.
I have dined at the Melbourne Chart House several times. The wait staff is attentive and knowledgeable. Food is consistent and well worth the price. View is outstanding with dolphins not an unusual sight. For special occasions or just to treat yourself, go to the Melbourne Chart House.
