Chart House Restaurant - Melbourne Ratings and Reviews
It was Thanksgiving so you would expect a wait. The wait was about 20 minutes beyond the reservation time. However, the service, food and atmosphere was very good. I would definitely come back. I selected this location sight unseen with a recommendation from a local friend. I drove from St Augustine to have dinner with family at this restaurant and I was not disappointed.
We arrived and was not able to park ourselves. Had to valet park. Complementary valet parking. Of course I still felt obligated to tip the valet. It's a good thing my wife had cash because I didn't. We were seated promptly with a beautiful view of the river. The restaurant was fairly quiet. Our server was prompt to greet us. She didn't seem to know the menu well. When asked for her recommendations, she couldn't give more than a generic response. She did tell us that there was something on the menu she would not order but didn't tell is what it was. I ordered the special, a salmon steak on quinoa and greens something....very forgettable. It was very bland. Nothing on the fish whatsoever. The dressing on the quinoa was very bland. My wife's meal was a little better, a breaded snapper with a side of rice. Just not enough of the sauce that they put on top. Maybe a 1/2 teaspoon of it. Made the fish very dry to eat plain. The only saving grace was the dessert. A chocolate lava cake that was delicious. If I had to go again I would probably just get dessert and enjoy the beautiful view.
It was excellent. From the valet parking to the cocktail at the bar before dinner to the table and dinner it was a great evening.
Our waiter, Gerry, was top notch. . . Not only at our table but all his tables. Really a gem.
The food was excellent as was the atmosphere. We’d recommend Chart House with 5 stars *
It’s great that they I offer special during the week - like Wednesday an app with a cocktail for 10. Okay I get that it’s a promotion to build the bar business and having been in the business for years realize booze is where you make the dollar. However it should be offered to anyone who is having dinner in my opinion. Restaurants ALL seem to have stepped back from cordially even offering you a complimentary after dinner drinks - you have to extend some courtesy to those dropping a couple hundred dollars plus tip - you treat each customer like they are a quest in your home. Excellent food, nice portions and great staff
Very disappointed! We wanted a long time to get our food because there was a large party there. When we finally got the food it was over cooked. Very noisy place. They have a salad bar which just doesn’t fit in with a place that is supposed to be high end. Our waiter was very nice and the view is beautiful! We won’t go back except for the appetizer happy hour.
Went to celebrate a friend's birthday; it's a tradition to dine at the chart House for his birthday every year, and we're used to the birthday wishes with a small piece of cake at the end of dinner. Unfortunately this time nothing, not even a birthday wish from the server. In fact the serve left early and disappeared after just throwing the check on the table.
Loved the ambiance but the service is too intense. The waiter pushed extras to the extreme. The food is good but not fantastic. Everything is ala carte. The view is the big draw but once the sun goes down, you better have a good looking dinner companion willing to pay the hefty bill.
Two in our party were having an anniversary. I happened to mention it when I made my reservation on O.T. When we were seated, our menus had "Happy Anniversary" printed at the top, and there was a card signed by the wait staff on the table. A nice touch. It would have been even nicer if they had comped them a couple of glasses of champagne. They could easily afford it because everything is on the verge of being over-priced. The total bill with tip for 5 was about $330 and only 2 of the 5 were drinking alcohol (a total of 4 drinks). That said, the food is good and we had a good time. The service was solid. I think in the daytime the view is probably really nice, but we were there at night.
It was our wedding anniversary and I made a reservation for 6:15, and was not seated until nearly 7. The service started out ok, but then became non-existent. We ordered our food very quickly after being seated, and did not receive our entrees until almost 8 p.m. In that time period the waitress never came to check on us and we were to the point of just having them box up our food, so we could go home. Being our anniversary and my wife being pregnant, the long wait and lackluster service was not the way we wanted to spend our last child free anniversary. Although the food and ambience was good, it wasn't so good that it counter balanced the experience of overall bad service. The best service we had all night was from the valet guy, who was great and I wanted to tip him more than the waitress.
Family was in from out of town so we decided to eat at the Chart House as it came highly recommended. We all had a great time and thoroughly enjoyed everything about this place. The views are amazing as well as the food! The chocolate lava cake is a must! Wait staff was friendly and attentive. Will definitely eat here again.
Disappointed Anniversary dinner. Sent back lobster roll appetizer, recipe was changed and new version was awful and tasted fishy. Requested prime rib medium and it arrived rare, afraid to send it back. Grouper special with tasteless sauce. We were reinbursed for lobster roll and given 12.00 credit for next visit for the fish. Service was slow as place was packed. Left me wondering if it was just a bad night for us?
We booked ahead for our 25th Wedding Anniversary. We were sat at a nice table by the water and noticed right away that our menus had been personalized with a Happy Anniversary message from the restaurant (a unique and special gesture). Donnie was our server and he was FABULOUS! From start to finish the dinner was AMAZING!
Two stars because of the being seated next to an extremely loud , large group and items on the salad bar that had gone bad. Salad bars are my least favorite thing in any restaurant, but my wife loves them. This is the reason why. It becomes a low priority when it comes to freshness. No attempt was made to compensate us on the check. $90 before tip, no drinks and no dessert.
Sorry Chart House, we will not be back.
