Chart House Restaurant - Marina del Rey Ratings and Reviews
I thought we would give the Chart House another go and try for Valentines day and this time we brought our 16 year old son too!
The table we were sat at had 3 leafs and 2 of the 3 leafs kept falling down LOL, it was actually quite funny and my husband finally just let the leaf sit on his lap as he was tired up trying to keep it closed, Valentine's day was busy so we just sucked it up lol and made the best of it. Our waitress tried to close as well to no avail. We also gave the "20 minute pre order of the lava cake" another go as last time it was not good, quite frankly you should just take it off the menu as it tastes like over microwaved cake and I have no idea how on earth that took 20 minutes. I'm sorry but you asked :-( My 16 year old said, well the ice cream was good.
I have to say, this Chart House is inconsistent. It has never been bad, but it has fluctuated between good and very good. This time was fenomenal. Normally, special days like Valentine’s can be challenging, often resulting in either bad service or bad food or both. However, this time starting with Derek at the reception and then the food and service, all were excellent.
We had a really good time, topped of great food and service!!!
We love the Chart House in Marina del Rey, been coming here since 1979 after our first sailing date, so we celebrate our first date, our birthdays, and our anniversary here. We always say we should come here more often because the food is excellent, the service is great and everyone is very friendly.
Haven’t been to the restaurant in over 8 years and was quite surprised to find far better ambiance, food and service than I remember. We live a half mile a way and had been avoiding the Restaurant due to our previous experiences. We’ll definitely be returning to this hidden gem in the marina.
Overall, a nice experience. The waitress was phenomenal, just awesome. Very friendly and prompt. The restaurant had a nice atomsphere and the staff was very friendly. The food was amazing, some really good stuff here. The prime rib was not trimmed properly, very salty, not much flavors here, a good cut of meat that was neglected. We celebrated our anniversary here and they were aware but it looks like they don't respond well to celebrations. Give them a try but not the prime rib.
At arrival the waiter gave us the excuse that he was just back after two weeks leave and he didn’t know the special and didn’t bother to find out. Unfortunately, I decided to order it thinking that it was lobster so it must be good. I was surprised and so was the waiter. And it wasn’t good ravioli either. He offered to replace it when I told him I wanted lobster.
He didn’t pour the wine for us after the first glass. He brought a glass of scotch for my husband and as he was drinking it I noticed there were lip marks all the way around the rim. I told the waiter and he said that it is so dark in the bar it wouldn’t have been seen. It was almost gone so my husband said not to bother with a new glass. Excuses, excuses and no offer of apology. Not good.
We both were very disappointed and thought the Chart House would have been much better than this. Never again.
Best restaurants in the Marina. Our server was awesome. She was very detailed and educated on wine pairings, continued to check in to assure our meal was going well. Steak with mushroom truffle butter was impeccable and the lobster ravioli was prepared perfectly.
One of the worst dining experiences of my life. We ordered steaks and a side. Nothing complicated. When the food finally came my steak was way overcooked, my friend's steak was way under cooked, and the side was not delivered. Waitress did not check to see if everything was Ok with the food. Had to grab a different waitress to let them know it was not right. I can assure you I am not in the habit of sending food back, but this was not even close. Our waitress finally came by once but no apology was offered and she did not seem to care. Witnessed her standing around goofing off with other staff members. She certainly was not by the kitchen making sure our food was being prepared. Finally gave up after waiting another 45 minutes with no food so we left. I have been to the Chart House in Jacksonville many times and it was always great. Very disappointed in this location.
Showed up for our reservation for 2 on time but they still had us wait 20 minutes, even while sitting other parties of 2 with later reservation times. Didn’t see any food or drinks until about 45 minutes after our reservation. Make sure you eat before you come here, just in case.
took 30min just to get a basket of bread... 45min for an appetizer. The kitchen was slammed, but by the time we got the appetizer it was cold. for what you pay, the portions were small and the food seemed cheap and frozen. Clearly the kitchen is not passionate about their jobs. the clam chowder was mediocre at best- potatoes still hard...Artichoke was sad. I would never go to this restaurant again unless it was to attend another friend's event. The ambiance is what saves this place but so much was lacking to ever provoke me to step into this establishment again.
Everything about the evening at The Charthouse was great.
We were seated promptly, the staff were friendly, efficient and professional. And, we had a nice view!
The food was delicious and served hot. Excellent wine list.
Valet parking was on point and not over priced.
Because it was Christmas Day, the restaurant was very crowded and, therefore, the service was not the best. Three of us all ordered the Captain's Prime Rib. My two guests were pleased with their order. However, my rib was over 1/3 fat/gristle, which I should have returned. However, I took a good deal of it home for my dog. Generally, we are all pleased with the food/service. However, this was not one of those days.
