Food and service were good, but it's too noisy and way too expensive for what you get. Also, perhaps I'm being a picky snob, but the Charthouse in Dana Point (where I live) has better on street (non valet) parking, and the view is spectacular. The view here, not so much.
The staff is wonderful. The food was just awful. What happened to the good old chart house food?
Very disappointed. We had reservations for three at the Chart House last Saturday night. The drinks were good. I ordered the coconut shrimp as an appetizer and it was good. My main course was prime rib and a lobster tail which came out cold. The plates are cold so perhaps that is why the meat becomes cold so quick. It was sent back to be "rewarmed...nothing like rewarmed expensive food...lobster tail alone was 30.00..." My roommate's order was also screwed up but she was hungry and wanted to eat. So she sent back part of her order. We ordered the "Lava Cakes, the house specialty," for dessert. The lava cakes came out burned and dry and you could taste the burned cake...no lava there...obviously not much care is given to detail. The cakes were sent back. The dining room is beautiful but the food needs some work. We spent 230.00 for three...just not worth the price for the quality of food we received. We spend many dollars on restaurants in the area and this has been the worst dining experiences I have had in a long time....I will make reservations at Ruth Chris next time.
The food was fantastic, we had the coconut shrimp which was tasty & nicely presented. We had fillet and New York steaks were excellent, perfectly cooked and delicious! The wine list is substantial with a good selection of reasonably priced good quality wines on offer in addition to some high end stuff should you wish to push the boat out. On that note, the marina views are outstanding.
Only one gripe, the pointless valet parking, we had to queue to get our car which was 10 yards from the door! There were around 5 other parties leaving at the same time so the 2 guys were running around so we had to wait, I would have been happy to park and retrieve my own car but using the valet is compulsory. A waste of time and money in my view and left a bad taste, next time we’ll walk!
So in summary, great location, great food, great service, lousy parking arrangements and fairly priced, not cheap but it feels like good value, it’s a classy place.though Self parking should be an option!
Our server Louis made the experience even more enjoyable. The food was so perfectly cooked and served.
Final day of our holiday, so splashed out on somewhere nice for seafood. Food was mediocre, but very expensive - the 'special' of 'steak and lobster tail' turned out to be two meals combined - so rather than a normal $35 meal, was actually $70. The resteraunt was half empty (which should have been a clue). Very dated. Both me and my wife were then up all night with stomach pains. Not very good, I wouldn't recommend
We had a gift card from my client to enjoy dinner. We eat often at the Chart house and other establishments among the chain. Our total bill was $185.00. Our card was a $100.00 value and we put $105.00 cash to cover the rest and tip. What happened next was shocking!
The waiter told us the card was not activated so I gave him one of our ccs to handle the $100.00 owed by the gift card. The waiter ran my CC for $185.00 & kept the cash.
We waited 15 minutes for him to come from the back, I explained they charged card my cc for the full amount? He then went and ran our card for $100.00 now telling me they reversed the charges on the $185.00. we got home and check the accounts.
That meal cost us 185.00 ( no reversal) + $105 ( cash we left )+ $100.00 ( ran cc 2nd time) + the gift card was also depleted of its value $100.00
$495.00 !!!!!
My wife called the manager and he blew her off and told her to call back once we check our CC balances... great service !!!
This place is a den of thieves and someday the manager and the waiter will steal from the wrong people
This restaurant is a really good choice if you want to be on the water. However, you are mainly looking at the boats in the marina - it doesn't have an ocean view. There were other options in the area with more of a water view, but not as nice. The food is good, and there are a lot of options. I wouldn't say it was outstanding though for the price. My cocktail was amazing! If you go, order a Bourbon & Chocolate. :)
Service, Food, Ambiance - Prime!
Our Easter dinner was fantastic! Great views, food and bloody Mary’s. Service was attentive. We started with salad bar then clam chowder. Main entrees of Ahi, stuffed shrimp and swordfish. Finished off the meal with the best chocolate lava cake we ever had. Try it you’ll like it! We will be back.
Honestly, the best swordfish I’ve ever had! The view was great, service was awesome. We had the perfect date night here. So happy with our experience!!
We were a party of four who were dining out to celebrate one of our couple’s anniversary. Three of us had and enjoyed your coconut shrimp dinner. However, one of our party ordered prime rib which was presented under cooked and proved to be to tough to enjoy. This came as a surprise to all of us, due to the Chart House reputation for good meats.
We love Charthouse. However, this time service was not up to par. We had to ask for water refills and asked two or three times for the special menus rolled up to take home. My Mahi was a bit dry as well. Everyone else was happy. The birthday ice cream pie was much appreciated.
Clark and Lena are always amazing, and have become two of our favorite people. The entire staff is always very friendly.
Great views on Marina. I wasn’t particularly excited about my Mahi dinner. Everything else was great except for an AC that blew very cold air straight on my head. We asked a few times but the waiter was unable to fix it.
Great food, service and atmosphere.
Overall it was an excellent meal, ambiance and service. There is a beautiful view of the marina. I highly recommend it for any occasion. You must try the crab cakes too. Fabulous!
Overall service was Excellent. Professional staff
the service was great all the way around and the seating had a great view
Very good food, attentive staff, overall quite good experience.
We had a lovely dinner celebrating our daughter’s birthday. The manager Sean surprised us with special happy birthday menus with her name on the top. Our server was so attentive and the food was perfectly prepared. We had a booth facing the water and, honestly, the evening was perfect in every way!
Food was very average although my guest seemed pleased. Too expensive for average food .
We were a party of four and we all enjoyed our food. The servers were very friendly and the service was excellent. This was our second time eating here and we would definitely come back again.
Food was good but one of my party was served some prime rib... it was the end cut and only 1/2 of it was edible. In fairness to the restaurant, once we discussed it with the management they took it off the bill. So, I would return to the location, I would simply watch out and be more attentive to the serving. Otherwise, a great place. Good service and friendly people.
Our waitress was excellent! She was very busy but still made time to treat us as though we were special.
It was a pleasure NOT to be BLASTED with music ....Thank you
Good service. Great Food, and the ambiance/view was amazing. Would definitely recommend it to friends/family.
Our server Louis was fantastic
Birthday dinner
Disappointing and way to expensive for the experience. To start off with, the manager was wearing a half loose tie -very unprofessional for the image they are trying to portray. Waiter was inexperience. I took a bottle of Cakebread wine (not a cheap bottle) and the waiter broke to cork when opening it and still charged me a corking fee and never poured the wine.
We ordered our steaks medium and all three came out medium well more on the well side.
Considering we provided our own wine it still came out over $200. I am extremely comfortable paying this and much more for an excellent dining experience and thought we would have received that at this location but unfortunately it was very disappointing.
Well, when I made the reservation I make sure to let them know it was my birthday 🎂 and no acknowledgement of it was shown.
Last time I went to the chart house in Dana point they gave us a menu saying “ happy anniversary” when I told them it was my anniversary. at chart house in marina del Rey I got nothing .
Though The waitress was nice and food was great. I was disappointed about them not acknowledging my birthday.
Hadn’t been there in years and was delighted how wonderful it was. The food and service was perfect
I look forward to my next visit soon
We choose the Chart House often for date night .... It is close to home, great location, excellent fresh fish and notable salad bar.
Chart House is a fav.. .shame its not open for lunch during the week. I like everything about this place.
We love the Chart House in Marina del Rey! Everyone is soooo frienrly and we love the food and drinks, delicious! Happy Hour is fantastic too!
My husband and I had a delicious dinner here with fantastic service. Will definitely be back!
Our server “Ed” did a great job. Please pass along our thanks from the “Alaskan” couple.
The food was very good, and the service and ambiance were excellent.
The overall experience was good. We've gone to this Chart House numerous time over the years for birthdays and holidays.
A wonderful Valentine's Day dinner! Yummy food, beautiful ambience and an awesome server named Ed 😀
