Chart House Restaurant - Longboat Key Ratings and Reviews
Service was a bit off. Waiter brought appetizers before our drinks came, appetizer plates not cleared in advance of entrees arriving, and waiter lost the take away box containing my wife's "lunch" for the next day. Food was good but not exceptional. Views nice. Received a custom printed menu wishing me a happy birthday which was a nice touch.
The food was excellent. We had black and blue swordfish and stuffed shrimp. Both dinners tasted great and presented well.
In terms of service, we were less pleased. As you know, we did arrive over 15 mins late to our reservation. However, the restaurant was not busy and they honored our reservation. Thank you.
When we arrived the hostess was on the phone. No one greeted us for over 5 mins in any way, verbal or otherwise. Then we were advised we were very late and it appeared by their tone and body language to be annoyed with us. In any case, they did not make us feel welcome. The waitress also seemed that she did not want to be working that night or happy to be there. She was polite but again not welcoming or engaging in any way. She did take a picture of us at our request. Thank you.
We would recommend this restaurant to someone else, but I hope the service would be better next time. We did try some of the other fantastic restaurants in LBK, such as the Beach House. The Beach House had excellent food, and excellent service. The ambiance was impressive and the vibe was energetic at their recently updated facility on the beach, which was very welcoming!
I hope this helps.
We decided to go to the Chart House for a Birthday Celebration for my sister. There were 6 in our party and we called to make a reservation several days in advance. When we arrived we explained that it was a special birthday celebration and would be happy to wait a few extra minutes to get a table overlooking the water. The hostess did not smile, seemed extremely stressed in general, and was definitely not happy about our request. However, after about 20 min. we were seated at a nice table. Our waitress also seemed unhappy and seemed to force a fake smile while snapping at us when I asked about any specials. We tried to make light of all this because we were visiting FL for my sister's birthday and really wanted to enjoy the evening. The food was pretty good but the general attitude of the employees we came in contact with really made our experience at the Chart House a negative one. We will not go back again and would definitely not recommend this restaurant to anyone.
The appetizer (steak tartare) and entree (stuffed flounder) were disappointing. The drinks and dessert were good. The service was fair. I had to ask the waitress to bring us bread several times before we got any. I also had to remind her to bring my tea bag.
The view is great and service was great. It is time for the restaurant to be updated.
We liked the salad bar but the food was ok. The prime rib was very dry and stuffed shrimp was ok. The desserts were the best part of the meal.
The quality of the food should have been at a higher level.
Had made reservations on-line and confirmed by phone for the early dining. Had requested window table. Upon arriving, the "receptionist" acted like she couldn't locate the reservation, then informed us there were no window tables, unless we wanted to wait. We could see MANY open window tables! Welcome and friendliness of "receptionist" was a 2 on a 1 to 10 scale.
Salad bar is superb! However, there was not an attendant at the Caesar Salad location to mix and serve it. Finally had to ask one of the waiters, who then came to serve it.
Insufficient time was given to eat our salad before the main course arrived at our table, making us feel very rushed.
The "early bird" prime rib we ordered looked wonderful, but was served "cold." No one came to check to see how we were doing, so as a result, we ate cold prime rib which ruined the meal for us.
We had selected The Chart House as our final evening of dining (of 6) with out-of-town visitors because we thought it would be a great finale. Big mistake! Won't happen again! (We should have known better, because we had gotten cold prime rib on a previous visit some months before.)
We were kept waiting at front entrance for 4:30 to arrive. There were at least 45 people crammed into the entryway. Uncomfortable. In the past we have been allowed to wait in the bar area, even though we were not served until 4:30. That is definitely a more inviting way to greet your customers.
I was celebrating a special birthday after the fact with some dear friends. They are visiting from Canada and always look forward to a meal at the Chart House. It was a REALLY foggy night, so the visibility out of the large windows was nil, but the service made up for it. We all enjoyed ourselves and the food as we always do.
We had a reservation, but still waited ten-fifteen minutes for a window table. We were escorted to our table, but it wasn't totally cleaned from the previous patrons. Our waitress was coldly cordial. She seemed perturbed about having to repeat things to one of my companions who's hard of hearing. My dinner companions who treated me to dinner (my birthday) were not at all happy with the service. Our meals were well-prepared and tasty, and I was given a dessert in honor of my birthday.
Salad bar has a brown lettuce in it. Told the staff didn’t understand English and shook his head. Waiter was terrible. Never cam back. Over an hour and we only got bread and drinks. Manager said food would be out in 3 minutes but too another half hour Prime rib was way over cooked for medium and very fatty Fish was washed out. Loved this place before but went down hill
Very good food as always, and very nice ambiance, on the water. If you are coming for the early bird, get here in plenty of time (it is a very good deal), we were there at 5:50 PM ready to order (early bird runs til 6), and the hostess said they would not honor the early bird).
Great server even though I think he had some very large groups to handle on New Years Eve. At times I think he tried to handle us effiecently but we wanted a little more time before drinks and delivery of our meal. My mistake for ordering as soon as we ordered drinks. My wife had just gotten her salad and meal arrived. My wife’s Filet was ordered medium and she got med rare or blood red center. Sent it back but came back with no pink at all.. didn’t make a fuss as it was after 10pm. My dinner was excellent AND table placement was terrific
Our dining experience on New Year's Eve was very pleasant!! Were shown to a wonderful
corner table by a window and across from the salad bar that only added to our experience.
Enjoyed the stuffed flounder. My only negative was in finding the portion on the small side.
Also, the mashed potatoes could definitely have been fluffier. The total ambiance was perfect fo
our New Year's celebration. Also, the noise level was quite soft and truly added to our
ability to converse!! We Seniors were raised during an era where conversation was and
IS quite enjoyable.
Service pretty good but food just not. Had the crabs and shrimp stack and was very tasteless, avocado was brown all over and picked most out and the crab just looked old and dried out. Lobster bisque just okay. Not impressed at all and we still had appetizer plates on the table eating when the mains came and were placed beside. Won’t be back again...
I had a terrible experience at Chart House. I made reservations for a weekend lunch. Neither Chart House's website nor the menu posted outside mentioned that the day I had made reservations the lunch menu was instead replaced by the dinner menu at dinner prices. The waitress was rude and incredibly unaccommodating when we arrived, not taking any responsibility for Chart House's lack of communication about the change in menu and extreme spike in prices for that meal. We had to leave the restaurant. I will not be recommending Chart House to anyone.
Was actually very disappointed by this visit - have been a charthouse fan for years, in Sarasota and other places - won't go back here now. Service extremely slow; arrived 645, drinks order taken 705, food order taken 730, apps arrived 800, main courses arrived 830. The filet mignon was dry and the stuffed flounder was chewy and lukewarm. Waitress took our "special occasion" menus to wrap them up for us and when we got home we had someone else's.
We enjoyed our meal at the Chop House very much. I was not thrilled with our table as we were put way in a corner and there was a table of 17 right behind us. The server was good how ever when she began taking care of the table of 17 we were a slight after thought.
I think the food is very good but it is a little on the pricey side. The salad bar is great but it is an additional cost of nine dollars on top of the cost of your entree .
Made the reservation for clients and received the confirmation of which I forwarded to my clients...7 people 😞😞😞😞 hostess said they DO NOT PARTICIPATE IN OPEN TABLE. Even after showing the confirmation they said sorry, no we don’t accept. Made a huge impression, NOT. 😡😡😡
The taco trio appetizer was outstanding as were the coconut shrimp with three sauces. The crab and mango stack wasn't so great. Not a lot of flavor. Service was quite slow . No one came to our table for 15 minutes. The fish dishes are quite expensive. Their spinach salad is also outstanding.
The restaurant is worn out and dated. When you enter you are immediately hit with the smell of fish--it is overwhelming. Our waitress told us, only when we were ready to order, the items the kitchen was out of so we had to rethink our order and then she forgot to deliver an entire course.
