Chart House Restaurant - Longboat Key Ratings and Reviews
Who taught all American servers to say “may I get the plate out of your way” when we are all still eating. Do they need the dishes in the kitchen. Would have been happier if someone cared to pour the wine
$37 for a piece of grouper that sells at the beach bar down the street for $12. Overpriced, poor service. Never again
The view is very pretty. The happy hour on the deck is peaceful. We had a 1 year old with us and the staff was excellent.
We tried a number of appetizers and all were delicious. I recommend the shrimp cocktail and the avocado, mango, crab stack. It’s a place where the customers are in a good mood! That makes for a festive atmosphere.
We were celebrating my wife's birthday and scheduled a 4:30PM reservation to make sure we could watch the sun set and enjoy the view. I was pleased to see that there was an "early bird" special with a few reasonable food dinner options which included a fabulous salad bar. Even though it turned out to be cloudy the view was exceptional. The food on the special menu was okay but not exceptional. This is definitely a must stop in the Sarasota Bradenton area but it is a bit pricey unless you catch happy hour or the early dining menu.
AWFUL, sorry to say, as we were looking forward to our dinner there, but didn't stay! Having dined at this Longboat Key location before, we were very disappointed by the fact that the music, featured throughout the restaurant, could only be described as 80's POP/Electronica. Not suitable for a pleasant evening of dining and conversation. Better suited for a bar/nightclub/disco. Too bad, as the menu looks very inviting!
Another pleasurable experience was had by 4 of us. The food as superb and our waitress went above & beyond. 1 in our party was on a special diet & forgot to mention "no cheese" & the waitress said no problem that she would get another. She always made sure to check our progress throughout the meal. The view was one I wish I could have at my house. There is something awesome about dining waterfront.
It is never a good sign when arriving for your reservation, you are asked to wait 10-15 minutes in a half empty restaurant. Our server was inattentive at best, disappearing for long periods of time. The food was bland...Idk if they own a salt shaker. My friend's steak was poor quality meat. It seems to cater to an elderly clientele with a taste for bland food.
Ordered a bottle of wine and had wait 15 minutes for wine glasses. Did not have several items on menu. Check was incorrect and it took 20 minutes to correct. None of this was the waiters fault . It appeared that all of our problems were that of lack of organization and a lack of management skills.
Another great night at the Chart House for our wedding anniversary.
The only disappointment was our server was not as good as we would have liked in attending to our needs and did not come across as particularly friendly.
Otherwise, everything else was very positive!
We arrived in time for Happy Hour but had also reserved a table for dining. The Happy Hour Staff was the rudest wait staff (3 of them) I have encountered in a long time. I guess they don't like Happy Hour clientele because the prices our cheaper and probably they don't make as much tip money. One of the waiters practically slammed the door in my face, one waiter completely ignored us, and the waitress was rude to my daughter when she asked about someone getting us a drink. I guess we didn't look like good tippers because we had a 14 month old. All we wanted to do was to go outside to get a drink before our table was ready. The one waiter was so rude he chastised us for moving a cushion and he was the one who slammed the door. I am not sure why the manager did not come out and tell us that we could not sit there but we definitely got the message when no one would wait on us.
I wanted to leave without dining but we had come from Anna Maria Island and did have a reservation. It is too bad because the food was delicious and our waitress Joy was very sweet. We did have to wait for one of the meals and everyone else had finished their dinner but this did not upset us as much as the Happy Hour wait staff rudeness and the manager's lack of skill managing them and their general disregard for us as customers. We usually enjoy the Chart House in Annapolis, Alexandria, and Longboat Key but we will not return to Longboat Key chart house again.
We've been going to the Chart House for many years and our last dining experience was disappointing. I ordered the short ribs which I have many times but this time it was terrible! Dry, over cooked, and salty. Instead of being served with Yukon gold potatoes like usually it was served with spinach gnooki. I hardly ate any of it. My husband ordered fish and his was very dry. We both very unhappy.
My one complaint was after requesting that the Heath Bar crunch on the signature Lava cake be put on the side in a separate dish, it arrived at table completely covering the dessert. As I was allergic to ingredients in the Heath bar crunch, I was not able to enjoy dessert with my family. No accommodations were made.
We took friends for the early bird Sunday dinner where Prime Rib is on the menu. Two of us had the beef and two had the salmon. All enjoyed the very fresh salad bar. We all had a wonderful meal. We ended our meal with a mud pie. They were very impressed. The scenery was beautiful as well.
This was recommended by our hotel concierges. Excellent food and staff. Our waitress seen I was wearing black and the cloth napkins were white, she immediately said let me get you a black napkin so you don’t get any white lint on your cloths.
Now that is someone who is paying extra attention. I didn’t even think about that.
Everything we had was above expectations.
It was a little loud as there was a prenuptial dinner going on and they were having fun.
But who can complain about laughter?
If you’ve never gone here to eat you are missing out on delicious cuisine!
This is above a 10. WONDERFUL
I love the Chart House and this location is my favorite. The food is superb and here it is evident that freshness matters! The view is gorgeous and service is spot on! A special call out to our waiter Marcel!! I love this this place and will always come back!!!!!
Went for an late lunch/early dinner. Got there while the brunch menu was still in play. Changes to a dinner menu on Sun at 4. Brunch options were very good and moderately priced for a place of this size and ambiance. Choices include salads, some eggs, burgers, sandwhiches, etc. And $3 bloody marys or mimosas can be added. The kimchi calamari was something special.
Food earned an "A". Service only a "B". A couple of mistakes; in this price range I expected better, especially since the restaurant wasn't terribly busy. Kitchen was a bit slow, but this may have been a function of the server's timing in turning in the order. The dining room seemed dark. Not the atmospheric kind of dark, where the environs are dark but table down- lighting is good. In this case the lighting fixtures were artsy, but everything was just dim. On the plus side: giant shrimp in the cocktail; coconut shrimp good; spinach chop salad very good and generous portion; snapper Hemingway was excellent. We arrived on time for our reservation and we were seated in a timely fashion.
We were back in town for a visit with my son. Chart House was the first restaurant we went to because it has always been our favorite. No more! We had checked the menu on line and several of the items that we had decided on before we came were not longer on the menu. You need to update your on line menu on a regular basis. My chardonay wine was barely cold. I complained and the second glass was only slightly better. The service was poor. The waiter did not seem to understand us. We had to repeat everything we said. One friend wanted to get asparagus instead of mixed veggies. The waiter said there would be an up charge. The salad bar did not appear as good as we remembered so we declined, even though that was one of the main reasons we went to the restaurant. When we were leaving, it was raining unbelievably hard. I suggest you stock some umbrellas considering how often it rains. People do come from out of town and are not often prepared. I ask for a plastic bag to cover us from a man at the desk, appeared to be the manager, considering how he was dressed. He did not even give eye contact, no smile after I joked about the rain. Sorry to say, we won't be back. We may try the one in Santa Barbara or Maui again, but not Longboat Key!
We have eaten here about six times over the past few months and each has been equally as good and enjoyable. We have taken a friend with us the last two times and she has been equally impressed and was very eager to go along this time when we mentioned to go to the Chart House. We wish we were closer to go more often.
The food and service has always been great. I just wish the owner would update the inside of the restaurant. It's a little too 70's. I'm a little surprised they don't have a dress code. Nothing like suit and tie for men. But, this girl came shorts that were totally inappropriate.
Celebrated Sweetest Day, this past Sat. & everything was as great as I expected. Food was wonderfully good & tasty. Debbie our server, was right on everything we needed and very efficient. The prime rib was done to perfection, the snapper melted inn your mouth. Being a Landry's cardholder entitled us to this triple ice cream scoops which were to die for. The lava cake was enough to serve all 6 of us and chocolately sinful, but wouldn't have missed that! The only thing that was strange, that while we had reservations, we still had to wait for a table for about 5-10 min. There were plenty f open tables & it appeared like the servers were all going back & forth, fussing w/other empty tables & this is the 2nd time it's happened. When you check in @ the podium, you still have to stand there & it's awkward when you have 2 in your party who need to sit asap (because of mom w/a cane & spouse in a wheelchair). Other than that, there is no other negatives. This is a great place for fantastic views & food.
