Great dinner w/ great view!
Gramddaughters 20th birthday.
Appetizer coconut shrimp. $12.
Entree Coconut Shrimp. $26. Only diff was rice???
Same # of shrimp on each.
Entree not good value.
Food preparation was awful. Overcooked no flavor and over priced. Long wait for food not prepared as ordered. Worst experience at a restaurant in the area
Normally Service is exceptionally on point. This time it was very unprofessional and put a very sour taste in my mouth to take future friends to.
I recommend a continuation of training and a coarse on how to talk with customers. Socialization skills and a bit of kindness go a long way. Immaturity belongs somewhere else not at an establishment as Chart House. Great views. And great key lime pie.
This is our favorite restaurant in this area. The view is engaging. The food is excellent. The wait staff gave us the perfect amount of attention.
Our waitress was way to busy to help us. We had to go order our second drink at the bar ourselves. We felt like we were putting her out
It was a wonderful evening. My Seattle son and daughter in law always look forward to having dinner at the Chart House.
Food was delicious, service was superb. All wait staff, not just our own, were attentive, cleared our table, refilled glasses, etc. We were taken care of by everyone.
We've been to the Chart House many times in different states and I have a pet peeve that the server should NOT clear the dinner plates until everyone at the table is finished. The server did just that and cleared two plates and there were two plates left, one of which the woman was still eating. I did not give the international signal with my fork and knife at the 4 o'clock position, but yet the server took my plate. There was one person left still eating and that makes for an uncomfortable experience for the diner. Another issue was that they served us an appetizer without a serving spoon! Here is something that I read online: Martha Keller, a hospitality instructor at the Culinary Institute of America’s California campus, says: “The proper etiquette is to wait until everyone has completed their meal and clear everyone at once.” I think that management needs to train their wait staff better to make the dining experience more enjoyable for the diners!
The Chart House at Longboat Key is one of my favorite spots when I am vacationing in the Sarasota area. I have always have excellent service and excellent meals.
Very nice outside view. Cozy, and very good food at acceptable prizes
Had an odd negative experience at the bar regarding moving our seating there. Feels like micro-management of waitstaff is making customer interactions more adversarial. We’ve noticed more of this over the past 6 months or so.
Way over booked
Warm bacon dressing over spinach salad served cold
Coconut shrimp cold
Had to wait over an hour for dinner
45 minutes for salad and soup
We had to wait almost 30 minutes WITH a reservation. We were seated next to a very large party with small children banging their glasses and cutlery and was very loud next to us. The view of the bridge is lovely and the food was great. Wait service was very good.
If they could get the reservations organized and perhaps seat guests with children in one area of the restaurant so other patrons who want a quiet dinner can also be accommodated it would make the evening perfect.
Amazing place! Beautiful view. Food was delicious and service was great. I recommend this place.
We had a large party and half of our party received their food 15 minutes prior to the other half. Food was okay. Waitstaff worked hard but they need more servers. They were hustling so it was hard find them. Steaks were over cooked. Alaskan crab was not hot. Dessert was great
We have been here other years and was still a great experience for us. Did Happy Hour at the bar and views were so nice.
Dirty overdone noisy. Food cold. It only gets worse.
Service was only fair (short handed staff??) and table was not cleared between courses. Result= no where for orders to be placed on table with server expecting guests to assist in serving???? Wait staff polite, but despite politeness, requests not met. Like a wait between starters being ordered and wondering IF waiter thought we were only ordering starters and drinks???
Like serving food with no place settings, like not remembering drink orders, like forgetting to bring a knife or napkin.
Food ok, but essentially overpriced. Chart House Long Boat Key seems to have slipped negatively since last dining there about 2 years ago.
service was extremely slow. Took 1 hour after placing order to receive main course. Had to ask for receipt for Landry Club credit
Food and service always great here. A little noisy this time.
very confused lady at reception desk. several waiting in line and she took her time finding
reservations then instead of having a waiter take them to their table, did so herself letting
customers waiting! Then our reservation could not be found!!! Told them I had it on my phone and was told it was lucky!!!! It was located without my phone confirmation. Bar was "backed up" and took 15 minutes for a glass of wine. Food was good and waitress was very good
Unfortunately we did not have a good experience. We ordered drinks on the patio. Bar service was very slow. We were ready to be seated and my husband asked that the tab be added to our bill. The bar waiter said he would but he would appreciate us tipping him now. Well all fine and good but the the drinks were added to the dinner bill and we generally tip based on the total so it got messy.
The table we were seated at was broken. A section of the table was falling off on our friend’s knee. We asked to be moved and they said we will have someone come over to fix it. The waiter came and said he would look for the tape... really? Then he said he could not find the tape so again we asked to be moved. He said we could go to the next open table.
Next I ordered my chicken well done. It did come well done but cold. If not for the view this restaurant would be not be on our repeat list.
We have been frequent customers of the Chart House until last year, when we had a very marginal meal. However, we returned as it is my Mom's favorite and once again, they redeemed themselves this year. The coconut shrimp is one of the very best in Sarasota, so don't miss it! The parmesan crusted snapper was good as well, will get that again. Don't forget the lava cake to top it all of, the table of 4 shared 1 & it was worth the calories.
Ordered a Brand name martini. Received the wrong drink. Baked stuffed shrimp was served cold - had to send it back. It was ok - small shrimp mediocre. Hubs had prime rib - enjoyed it. Very noisy. Lots of large parties. It’s a great view. That’s about it.
The wait between drinks being served and presentation of our meals was a bit excessive, but our overall evening was totally pleasant.
Salad bar needed refilling. Big rush of people. Server was very busy and not as attentive as could have been. Food was ok and the view is gorgeous.
A party of 8 celebrating anniversaries we looked forward to higher class dining experience. The food was excellent. Our server was pleasant and did her best considering they were short staffed as she indicated. It took quite some time to even have server come to our table. She did so to acknowledge us and said she would be back. She did not even take drink order. We had to "wave" her down. Once the food was served we never saw our server again until end of meal. So a few items that were needed we went without. Our server did apologize and indicated they were busier than expected. Really! They showed limited openings due to full reservations made on line. And, it did not help that our table was right next to the table clearing dirty dish station so very noisy with dishes clanging behind us. My husband and I have come here many times but sat in the bar area for drinks and food where we have been very pleased.
Upon arrival was told they were cleaning the table. After a 15 minute wait we were seated at a table that had been set up & ready when we arrived. After being seated we watched two tables that were seated after us get waited on and we still had not been greeted by a server. We found the manager who was not phased that we had an issue. He did send a server to us but the manager never did check on us throughout our time there. When we got the bills there was a $15 discount on one and a $20 discount on the other with a notation of “wait”. I guess they have this problem frequently since “wait” was setup in the computer system.
Although the staff were very nice, it doesn’t compensate for or overcome their terrible service.
Examples, although they brought me a second glass of lemonade, once both the first and second glasses were empty, they sat on the table empty until the check was paid.
Both my wife and mother-in-law had their entrees served before my appetizer plate was cleared... more than 10min after I finished. My entree was served last.
The waiter brought the check and placed it on the table while my wife was still eating her entree and before she had gotten her dessert from the buffet. Aghast and annoyed she simply skipped dessert.
As for the food, mostly good except for the hummus appetizer. It came with three heaping ice creamed sizes scoops of three types of hummus and only four regular pita triangles... FOUR. Needless to say, the four didn’t even consume/ was enough for one of the three scoops.
Their polite staff needs ‘service’ training, badly...
Perhaps I’m out of touch with current dining experience, but this was not $200 (for two) well spent. The hostess, upon checking in 15 minutes early for our reservation, assured us she would come to the bar to get us when our table was ready. About 20 minutes past our reservation time, I returned to hostess stand and was told “I’ve been calling your name”. When I reminded her she told me she would come to the bar to find us, she offered no explanation
or apology. Our drinks, while tasty, we’re certainly not generous for the price (I was charged an extra $2.50 for a splash of ginger beer in mine). We ordered steaks done medium, which we were told would be pink. They were more like medium well, gray throughout, but at that point we were anxious to have the evening over so we didn’t send them back. Our waiter, while efficient, could have smiled at least once. Friends and family have urged me for years to go here, and are stunned we didn’t enjoy it, so we will likely try again, but first impression was not good.
Had to wait 1/2 hour even though we had a reservation. Staff was not friendly, food was okay but expensive.
Really good place. My girlfriend and I were very happy with our meals. The view is spectacular! (Make sure to ask for a water view.) Last, the bill was quite reasonable for such a nice restaurant.
When we got there, we were ignored by the hostess who was not doing anything else for 5 minutes. We had an 8:00 reservation for 2 people and were not seated until 8:40. I had to go to the hostess station where the hostess gave me an attitude saying, “I can’t make people get up and leave!” The food was good and the server started out good. When it came time for the check, it took another 30 minutes to find the server. The manager wasn’t the manager, he was a district manager who we complained to afterward and he didn’t offer us anything for our inconvenience. This is 2 bad experiences in a row at the Charthouse. The last time, at 3:30 in the afternoon on Christmas Eve (wasn’t busy) I had to get up from the table to ask for a server after sitting there for 20 minutes of being ignored.
Food was so so. Salad bar was big but not special. Our server was excellent.
Was disappointed. Setting is stunning: waterview and of picturesque. The food was luke warm, the fillet of sole was over cooked and honestly left most of it on the plate next to the ‘2’ asparagus that accompanied the dinner. I did eat the asparagus. The special appetizer was a burata cheese. I’ve had burata many times. This one was ‘ok.’ The key lime pie was the highlight of the night. Excellent! I was leased to enjoy espresso made with a true espresso machine...no pods! All in all it was a very mediocre dinner.
I have been dining at chart house for years and every time I go the food and service continue to Decline. It’s so sad bc it was really good at one time.
Our group of 4 was at Chart House on a Saturday night. Even though we had made reservations we were 20 minutes before we were seated. They appeared to be under staffed. When we made our drink order, we were told that the kitchen was backed up, even though there were several tables sitting empty. We ordered our appetizers at the same time as our drinks, but the drinks weren't served until after we finished the appetizers. It just seemed that everything was disorganized. The food was okay but I'm not sure I'd recommend given our experience.
Less than stellar this time
We've eaten there many times but the food this time was less than stellar. The seating arrangements were poor even though we had made reservations. We were treated shabbily by the hostess and the manager. We're native to the area, Landry Club members and are reconsidering ever going back
Always a great place to celebrate my wife's birthday. Great food and service and a nice selection for the early DINNER MENU
