Way over booked
Warm bacon dressing over spinach salad served cold
Coconut shrimp cold
Had to wait over an hour for dinner
45 minutes for salad and soup
We had a large party and half of our party received their food 15 minutes prior to the other half. Food was okay. Waitstaff worked hard but they need more servers. They were hustling so it was hard find them. Steaks were over cooked. Alaskan crab was not hot. Dessert was great
service was extremely slow. Took 1 hour after placing order to receive main course. Had to ask for receipt for Landry Club credit
Unfortunately we did not have a good experience. We ordered drinks on the patio. Bar service was very slow. We were ready to be seated and my husband asked that the tab be added to our bill. The bar waiter said he would but he would appreciate us tipping him now. Well all fine and good but the the drinks were added to the dinner bill and we generally tip based on the total so it got messy.
The table we were seated at was broken. A section of the table was falling off on our friend’s knee. We asked to be moved and they said we will have someone come over to fix it. The waiter came and said he would look for the tape... really? Then he said he could not find the tape so again we asked to be moved. He said we could go to the next open table.
Next I ordered my chicken well done. It did come well done but cold. If not for the view this restaurant would be not be on our repeat list.
We have been frequent customers of the Chart House until last year, when we had a very marginal meal. However, we returned as it is my Mom's favorite and once again, they redeemed themselves this year. The coconut shrimp is one of the very best in Sarasota, so don't miss it! The parmesan crusted snapper was good as well, will get that again. Don't forget the lava cake to top it all of, the table of 4 shared 1 & it was worth the calories.
Ordered a Brand name martini. Received the wrong drink. Baked stuffed shrimp was served cold - had to send it back. It was ok - small shrimp mediocre. Hubs had prime rib - enjoyed it. Very noisy. Lots of large parties. It’s a great view. That’s about it.
The wait between drinks being served and presentation of our meals was a bit excessive, but our overall evening was totally pleasant.
Salad bar needed refilling. Big rush of people. Server was very busy and not as attentive as could have been. Food was ok and the view is gorgeous.
A party of 8 celebrating anniversaries we looked forward to higher class dining experience. The food was excellent. Our server was pleasant and did her best considering they were short staffed as she indicated. It took quite some time to even have server come to our table. She did so to acknowledge us and said she would be back. She did not even take drink order. We had to "wave" her down. Once the food was served we never saw our server again until end of meal. So a few items that were needed we went without. Our server did apologize and indicated they were busier than expected. Really! They showed limited openings due to full reservations made on line. And, it did not help that our table was right next to the table clearing dirty dish station so very noisy with dishes clanging behind us. My husband and I have come here many times but sat in the bar area for drinks and food where we have been very pleased.
Upon arrival was told they were cleaning the table. After a 15 minute wait we were seated at a table that had been set up & ready when we arrived. After being seated we watched two tables that were seated after us get waited on and we still had not been greeted by a server. We found the manager who was not phased that we had an issue. He did send a server to us but the manager never did check on us throughout our time there. When we got the bills there was a $15 discount on one and a $20 discount on the other with a notation of “wait”. I guess they have this problem frequently since “wait” was setup in the computer system.
Although the staff were very nice, it doesn’t compensate for or overcome their terrible service.
Examples, although they brought me a second glass of lemonade, once both the first and second glasses were empty, they sat on the table empty until the check was paid.
Both my wife and mother-in-law had their entrees served before my appetizer plate was cleared... more than 10min after I finished. My entree was served last.
The waiter brought the check and placed it on the table while my wife was still eating her entree and before she had gotten her dessert from the buffet. Aghast and annoyed she simply skipped dessert.
As for the food, mostly good except for the hummus appetizer. It came with three heaping ice creamed sizes scoops of three types of hummus and only four regular pita triangles... FOUR. Needless to say, the four didn’t even consume/ was enough for one of the three scoops.
Their polite staff needs ‘service’ training, badly...
Had to wait 1/2 hour even though we had a reservation. Staff was not friendly, food was okay but expensive.
Really good place. My girlfriend and I were very happy with our meals. The view is spectacular! (Make sure to ask for a water view.) Last, the bill was quite reasonable for such a nice restaurant.
Food was so so. Salad bar was big but not special. Our server was excellent.
I have been dining at chart house for years and every time I go the food and service continue to Decline. It’s so sad bc it was really good at one time.
Was disappointed. Setting is stunning: waterview and of picturesque. The food was luke warm, the fillet of sole was over cooked and honestly left most of it on the plate next to the ‘2’ asparagus that accompanied the dinner. I did eat the asparagus. The special appetizer was a burata cheese. I’ve had burata many times. This one was ‘ok.’ The key lime pie was the highlight of the night. Excellent! I was leased to enjoy espresso made with a true espresso machine...no pods! All in all it was a very mediocre dinner.
Our group of 4 was at Chart House on a Saturday night. Even though we had made reservations we were 20 minutes before we were seated. They appeared to be under staffed. When we made our drink order, we were told that the kitchen was backed up, even though there were several tables sitting empty. We ordered our appetizers at the same time as our drinks, but the drinks weren't served until after we finished the appetizers. It just seemed that everything was disorganized. The food was okay but I'm not sure I'd recommend given our experience.
Less than stellar this time
We've eaten there many times but the food this time was less than stellar. The seating arrangements were poor even though we had made reservations. We were treated shabbily by the hostess and the manager. We're native to the area, Landry Club members and are reconsidering ever going back
Always a great place to celebrate my wife's birthday. Great food and service and a nice selection for the early DINNER MENU
My wife is a member of the Landry Club and it didn’t help. We were seated twenty minutes after our reservation and it wasn’t crazy busy. We sat forever waiting for service. Never asked for a drink order. We had to request. Food was just OK. My wife’s entry was delivered wrong and she was not served her dinner entry until after I was finished my meal.
We go to this location frequently and are usually happy. Watching the staff work, it appeared like a bit of chaos for some reason.
We look forward to visit the Chart house on Longboat Key every time we come to Florida. They have excellent seafood, drinks and an amazing salad bar. We were excited to bring our friends with this year, but were disappointed with the experience. The setting is lovely but the decor is getting tired and it seemed less busy than usual (especially a Friday night in March). The salad bar had fewer offerings and one cocktail was missing an ingredient and sent back (the table next to us also returned a cocktail). My red snapper was overcooked and my wife's macadamia crusted Mahi was bland. The server was efficient but very cool. She did not handle the returned cocktail well, though all 4 of us agreed the drink was not right. I've raved about the Chart House for 15 years. We'll give it another try but will have to check reviews next year before we return.
Granddaughter wanted pasta but no seafood or meat (Friday in lent and doesn’t like seafood). She would have been ok with the spinach pasta with zone butter on it but someone from the kitchen came out special to suggest an Alfredo sauce which was excellent as were the other early bird specials everyone else had. Good value too. Very attentive wait staff brought more bread and kept the water glasses full. Wonderful evening
Come here when we are in Florida, once a year. A not to miss restaurant and dining experience.
We went for the advertised special “Crab Cake Day Special.” Sat in the Bar area for Happy Hour and Bar Bites. Best Crab cakes we have had in a while – loaded with crab meat & a dollop of crab meat on top – and also shared a Carpacio. Drinks were good and outstanding service from “Robert.” The Mr. mentioned that is my Birthday tomorrow and Robert got us a “FREE” dessert. It was awesome! Thinking we might want to give The Chart House another try. Yes, it was crowded, “snow bird season” but we still found a table in the bar area.
ENJOYED A BIRTHDAY DINNER, FOOD EXCELLENT, SERVICE A 1
GENERALLY, everything is picture perfect.
The hot food was cold.
It was a special occasion and I did not want to make a scene or send it back.
Shame on me. Next time I will think twice about going to this restaurant.
We always enjoy the Chart House. The ambiance and the location are wonderful. Usually the service is provided with friendly and well trained staff. This time I'm not sure the waitress knew how to smile. All business and we had to wait quite a while before we had something to drink.
We all commented about her lack of warmth.
Our food was delicious. Our server was terrible. Never came back until our meal came to see if we needed anything. My dad asked for tarter sauce and was almost done by the time it came. She was only nice when she brought the check. We also did not like how rude she was when we asked to see the bar menu as my son is rather picky. Said we couldn’t get that food in the dining room. That’s funny because we were told that another time and I called the manager and he said we should have been able to get something from the bar for my son. I wouldn’t go back. Ceiling tiles were filthy. Service has gone down each year we have been in FL.
everything was as good as expected except for a noisy family next to us with 2 highchair babies. Not relaxing at all!
After prior good experiences we ate at The Chart House with 3 other couples on Tuesday evening. First the positives. The ambience was lovely, as usual, the tables set a reasonable distance apart & the view spectacular. The noise level was moderate & not too distracting. And the foood itself was very good, that is, once it finally arrived, close to 50 minutes after we placed our order. And while we all ordered at the same time, we were not all served at the same time, with one of us waiting for food at least 10 minutes after all the others had been served their hot meals, which then cooled considerably while waiting for the last person to be served. Service was inattentive & sporadic, starting with having to wave the waiter down to place the dinner order & continuing throughout the evening. All considered, a disappointing experience & one we’re reluctant to repeat. Many other very good restaurants in Sarasota to try!
We go as often as possible because of the great tasting food and it's presentation. Our waitress was the greatest(she checked on us often asking if we needed things & refilling drinks & such. Of course how can you not notice the awesome gorgeous view? We love this place. The drinks were made to perfection and our friends said that this was the best place they had ever been to for the whole package that I just mentioned. They were from Michigan and they've been to nice places, but not as nice as they experienced on our visit. This was the highlight of their visit.
Sean was great. Food was amazing😃
The crab cake was very disappointing. It said it was lump crab with lump crab on the top. It seemed mostly filler, was not at all crispy and the few shreds of crab on the top certainly did not seem like lump crab. Being used to crab cakes in Baltimore, I was skeptical to start, but it wasn't as good as expected. I was hosting a friend and was not pleased.
Food and service were very good.Had a drink at the bar before dinner and had a pleasant experience.Young lady hostess very good
Food very good. Started off with coconut shrimp which was great. Bottle of wine priced reasonably. Main courses of snapper and stuffed shrimp was good. We were seated at a window which was perfect. Most of all our server couldn't have been more attentive and competent. She was always available, yet not overbearing. Would definitely recommend.
Only negative was we had 645 reservations waited for almost an hour.even then it seemed un organized if we hadn't have said something the wait would have been longer.
This is our favorite place to take friends visiting us in Longboat Key because of the view and the food. i love their salad bar. Others had the salmon and steak. All were great. We had the lava cake for dessert this time. It must be ordered in advance because it takes long to prepare. Definitely a treat!
Dinner was served before we finished the salad
I had a wonderful time celebrating my Birthday at the Chart House. They have a wonderful Happy Hour and their Sunset Menu is the best deal in Sarasota!!!
If not for the location this place would have been closed years ago. The service is horrible and food is sub standard. Let me give you an example - we got there just in time for happy hour got seated in a sport and was told that was not a "happy hour" spot, so we were moved to a outside deck. We ordered a drink, we sat and sat, no drinks, in fact, no water, silverware , napkins or anything. Then the food comes- very cold , mediocre shrimp dish and some prime rib sliders (a white castle hamburger has twice as much meat on these big rolls with no meat) then some soup .. but guess what.. still no drinks.. notta, notta drop of water -no service to be found. The wait staff blames the bar, the bar blames the management for not enough help and the management does not manage expectations. Martini's in small champagne glasses??Can you spell disappointed? Nightmare to say the least.
