We have been dining at the Chart House consistently for years for birthdays and anniversaries and have always received top notch service and excellent food. However, tonight was the worst dining experience we have had at any restaurant.

From start to finish, our experience was a mess. What is usually a quiet and efficiently run restaurant was very chaotic and unorganized. We waited over 5 minutes just to check in with the host, and another 20 minutes to get seated. We then waited another 15 minutes to get ANY service. No water, no greeting, nothing. For an upscale restaurant, you would expect other servers or employees to take note that a table has been seated for 15 minutes with no service and notify a manager or greet the table themselves, but this was not the case.

Once we were acknowledged by our waiter, he took our drink and appetizer order, for which we waited another 20+ minutes for. One of our guests went to the salad bar, as usual, which was apparently very unorganized, and missing a few common items. Not the usual standard.

Once our actual appetizers were brought to the table, our waiter was MIA for another 15 minutes, before he came to check on us and take our entree order.

We then waited an abnormal amount of time to receive our entrees, which we figured was probably sitting in the kitchen drying out and getting cold. Luckily, however, our meals were delicious, up to the usual Chart House standards.

This experience was atrocious and not what you should expect from an upscale and expensive restaurant like Chart House. We're not sure if there is new management or if it was understaffed or if our waiter was just new, but we have never had such a terrible dining experience at any restaurant. It was clear by the ambiance that things were chaotic, not flowing smoothly, and unfortunately it reflected in our service. It will be a long time before we even consider dining here again, if ever.

My wife and I generally enjoy this location . We took guests with us tonight and were very disappointed . We were greeted within 10 mins and had drinks five minutes later .dinner arrived and was delicious . We asked for the check when we were finished and had waited 25 mins for it to arrive . Then we gave credit card and waited another 25 to get it back and leave .

The hostess was rude and lacking people skills. We sat at the bar to wait for our reserved table. After about 15 min, our table was ready. It took management an additional 10-15 min to run our card for our drinks. At this point, we figured we weren’t being charged. No such luck. Our server was not any better. She was slow and very new. We waited a long time for drinks we ordered and a long time in between being checked for additional drinks. Food was cold by the time the server stopped to see if we needed anything.... the food is consistently good (although over priced!) and the service is consistently terrible. Every. Single. Time.

Chart House was a great location and wonderful service. I enjoyed the overall experience, but felt underwhelmed by my Mac Nut Mahi. The service was wonderful, dessert was great. The drinks where good.
I would return but I would select a different main course, something with a bit more flavor.

Valentine’s Day . Very busy but staff handled well. I was disappointed that there was nothing special done for Valentine’s Day celebration or decoration. The day was heavily advertised and promoted. Nothing special occurred.
Salad bar was missing bell peppers. The booths need a cleaning. They are looking quite shopworn. It is a beautiful venue don’t let it run down. We brought a party of six. Three couples. Coconut shrimp presentation impressive. Macadamia nut Mahi cold. Service excellent Kiley was our waitress. Reservation was ready on time. Thank you. Elevator outside dirty. Hoping next visit is better.

Once again, The Chart House offered us good food, excellent service, and one of the prettiest, most interesting waterfront views in Florida.

Our chopped salads were fresh and crisp, my baked stuffed shrimp well prepared, and my wife's coconut shrimp excellent (I got to eat her leftovers.).

The high point, aside from Debbie, our spirited and cheery waitress, was the chocolate lava cake.

Next time, we'll probably go to the outstanding salad bar and then order the cake all over again.

The menu was a little different because it was Valentines Day. Gazpacho, one of our favorites, wasn’t on the soup menu because it was being served as a sauce over a fish dish. We were so disappointed, but the kitchen served it as a soup for us because the base of the soup was already prepared.

Unexpectedly, the restaurant ran out of the salmon entree AT 5:30! And our waitress was more attentive to her other tables, left dirty dishes on our table way too long. We have always enjoyed our dining experience at the Chart House, but this (hopefully) was an outlier...

Though the salad bar was great the service was extremely slow. With 7:15 reservations we were not seated until 7;55. 0ur server came over to introduce herself and took off . A while later she took our drink order and didn’t see her again for 15 minutes. We ordered our entres and they came out in a reasonable time. My husbands steak was fine. My ahi was ok.
When we finished our meal and wanted our check. We waited a long time and our server did not appear. We asked someone who was bussing tables if she would get our server. She said she would get us our check. The check she gave us was for another table. Finally we were able to pay our bill and leave. It is unlikely we will return.

Dinner was fabulous and service was excellent in the dining room. Happy Hour left a lot to be desired. There is no order to getting tables or a place at the bar to order drinks. People stood in line waiting for a spot to open only to be pushed aside from other guests who did not feel like waiting in line. My vodka and club soda drink tasted like straight club soda. I would definitely recommend Chart House for dinner but not Happy Hour.

Luv the charthouse. Food was excellent. Service was terrible. Long wait for drinks and even longer for dinner items. App came with our salads. Had trouble finding server most of the time. Even to get our bill. Also took more than acceptable to be seated when having a reservation. Front desk women were not friendly.

Bartender was unable to make a Bourbon Old Fashion after two tries. We were told the hostess would come to the lounge and find us when our 7:30 reservation was ready. At 7:40 we went to the hostess stand and “they had been waiting for us “. We were shown to a very nice window table, where we sat for 20 minutes without any attention whatsoever. We left and had a wonderful dinner at Crab and Fin, with no reservation, lots of attention, and no waiting. Sorry , but our second visit to the Chart House may be our last.

Very disappointed. We brought friends who live in Sarasota to one of our favorites. Thought it would become a regular for them. We sat for well over an hour with no dinner. Waitress did come over once and mentioned something about a big group getting served, then we should get our food. We pretty much blew it off. Waited another long time and asked for manager. He did come over and somehow went to the kitchen and came out with our meal. He did apologize and offered dessert. We still walked out very disappointed.

Keep looking! We had a friend who reserved. Went as we did not want to offend her. Bad choice! Cattle call ambiance. Huge and cavernous with horrible acoustics. Hard to hear each other and we're not senior citizens.
Food was really bad. My chopped salad was inedible. Looked like it had been around for days. Fish was insipid at best, covered hap-hazardly with a sauce, scoop of rice just thrown on the plate. It was likewise for all in our party.
Service was totally indifferent.
Would never go back.

Early menu is a decent value, but the fish (snapper) was poor. It seemed deep frozen then overcooked. Hard, dry, lacked flavor. The salad bar is very good and it has one of the best views in town. A shame the food doesn't match the view. Frozen fish with a gulf view?

We had a nice table overlooking the causeway from Sarasota Bay. Food was very good and artistically presented. The restaurant almost cleared out about 7:00 (not unusual with the Happy Hour crowd in Florida). Only complaint was the waiter worked there only occassionally and was not familiar with the wine selections. Overall, a very nice place for a quality dinner with a waterfront view.

This is the first time that we have been disappointed with the food. The food looked like it
had been left out overnight!!!! The shriveled meat was warm and the potatoes were glazed
over and cold. If our guests were not so hungry I would have sent everything back!!!

We celebrated our fifth wedding anniversary and eighth year since we met. The last time I saw my wife was in 1953 when she was only 12 and my neighbor in NY where we grew up. I was graduating college and about to begin medical school. I did not meet her again till 57 years later after her brother called me in Florida. My wife was my greatest loss and my greatest discovery. Our first meal together was at the Chart House in Melbourne, Florida. It was a wonderful unforgettable experience. I wanted to recapture the magic of our first dinner again on Longboat Key close to where we now live. It proved to be again another magical dinner experience in a magical water- view setting, combined with great food, great service, great wine and an experience to remember in a great restaurant. Thank You for the memory!!!

We celebrated with friends familiar with the restaurant in other cities. It did the chain proud.
We were seated promptly and our server was Excellant. The menu even had " happy anniversary" printed at the top. There wasn't a crumb of food left on anyone's plate. If we lived in the area, this would be my GO 2 place......but for happy hour----I'm not made of $$😉
