Chart House Restaurant - Longboat Key Ratings and Reviews
Dinner was to celebrate 24th wedding anniversary before seeing EVITA and the staff made the evening even more special. Windows seating with a great view, menus were specially printed with "Happy 24th Anniversary" and the sunset was amazing.
We normally are private about why we are dining out, but I am very happy we made the choice to inform the restaurant.
First of all, our waiter was pretty loud. Must have a hearing problem. Secondly, the tables are pretty close together that you do not have trouble listening in to the neighbors conversation. Luckily, we had the on both sides. Then, I asked for a Lobster & Shrimp spring roll without Cucumber and was informed that these are already prepared and that they can't remove the cucumber. Eh, does that mean that the food is pre-prepped? A Spring roll with rice paper not prepared fresh? Thanks, you have seen me.
We dine here frequently and have never been disappointed. The view is awesome, the food is tasty perfections as are the mixed drinks. This is my favorite restaurant . Kudos to the chef and their presentations and creativity in making the food look so good you almost hate to disturb the dish. The salad bar seems to be always fresh with numerous selections to choose from.
Prices have gotten ridiculously high. $37 for a small prime rib that had very little flavor? The salad bar is fine but $18 by itself or $10 with an entrée is crazy. Used to love this place but getting out of hand now. Maybe that's why it's not very busy most nights except on special occasions. Sorry to see it.
There was a lack of communication in pricing that was not good. We had a reservation for dinner during happy hour only to find out when the bill came that the discount on drinks applied only if you were in the bar. In addition, my husband added the salad bar to his meal and was told that the price would be an additional $8.00 and was charged almost $10.00. He did not want to challenge the tab and potentially ruin the dinner for me and the two other people who were with us so I was unaware of it until later.
Our family was looking forward to a wonderful Thanksgiving dinner. The service was great but the food was terrible! Turkey was very dry and the gravy so salty that it couldn't be eaten. I realize that the restaurant was probably overwhelmed with reservations but it should have been better prepared to serve an "over the top" meal.
Thanksgiving dinner with family from out of country. Hoping to provide acquaintance to holiday food at top location in area. Food was tasty, but felt prepared in bulk. If this the case, would have chosen a location not as inviting. We attended the same event a few years ago when Chart House was in Tampa, and it was an exceptional experience. So much so, we drove down to Sarasota for a similar experience and were very disappointed.
Additionally, being a Landry member, we had to remind the server of the membership, request correction after error in processing membership number input and then come to find out credit not given after we left.
I am sure the restaurant may provide a different experience on a separate day, but may not make the drive anytime soon to find out.
Who taught all American servers to say “may I get the plate out of your way” when we are all still eating. Do they need the dishes in the kitchen. Would have been happier if someone cared to pour the wine
$37 for a piece of grouper that sells at the beach bar down the street for $12. Overpriced, poor service. Never again
The view is very pretty. The happy hour on the deck is peaceful. We had a 1 year old with us and the staff was excellent.
We tried a number of appetizers and all were delicious. I recommend the shrimp cocktail and the avocado, mango, crab stack. It’s a place where the customers are in a good mood! That makes for a festive atmosphere.
I've eaten at many Chart Houses, but the view of the Bay at Longboat Key is truly spectacular. We went to the early-dining special and enjoyed fabulous fish with the delicious salad bar for a fair price. Would recommend to anyone. Particularly loved the stone crab claws.
We were celebrating my wife's birthday and scheduled a 4:30PM reservation to make sure we could watch the sun set and enjoy the view. I was pleased to see that there was an "early bird" special with a few reasonable food dinner options which included a fabulous salad bar. Even though it turned out to be cloudy the view was exceptional. The food on the special menu was okay but not exceptional. This is definitely a must stop in the Sarasota Bradenton area but it is a bit pricey unless you catch happy hour or the early dining menu.
AWFUL, sorry to say, as we were looking forward to our dinner there, but didn't stay! Having dined at this Longboat Key location before, we were very disappointed by the fact that the music, featured throughout the restaurant, could only be described as 80's POP/Electronica. Not suitable for a pleasant evening of dining and conversation. Better suited for a bar/nightclub/disco. Too bad, as the menu looks very inviting!
Another pleasurable experience was had by 4 of us. The food as superb and our waitress went above & beyond. 1 in our party was on a special diet & forgot to mention "no cheese" & the waitress said no problem that she would get another. She always made sure to check our progress throughout the meal. The view was one I wish I could have at my house. There is something awesome about dining waterfront.
It is never a good sign when arriving for your reservation, you are asked to wait 10-15 minutes in a half empty restaurant. Our server was inattentive at best, disappearing for long periods of time. The food was bland...Idk if they own a salt shaker. My friend's steak was poor quality meat. It seems to cater to an elderly clientele with a taste for bland food.
