Chart House Restaurant - Lake Tahoe Ratings and Reviews
Our server Doug was outstanding, quite witty and very knowledgeable about the menu. We enjoyed the salad.
Sadly the kitchen is unable to properly cook a filet mignon medium. First time done to medium well and the raw inside.
While the manager took the item off the check, the chef should not have sent food out twice improperly prepared.
Doug did his best to correct the situation.
We went there for a happy hour and were underwhelmed by the quality and service. Perhaps our expectation was much higher knowing it is Chart House. It was not terrible, just did not meet our expectation. I may try it again one time before I say anything that is strong and bad. Everyone deserves a second chance.
Booked in advance for a quiet table at 7:00pm (on a week night) to celebrate our anniversary. Upon arrival the courteous/attractive hostess, after greeting us, apologized that our table had not cleared and offered us a booth. We agreed but upon seeing the booth, which was oversized for two, realized it was inappropriate. She asked if we would like to be moved when a table became available and we agreed. After about 10 minutes she courteously moved us to a much better situation. We were immediately greeted by Mathew our waiter who was extremely attentive and friendly.
After ordering cocktails (Martini for me and a glass of Chardonnay) we perused the menu. Note there was a not a wide selection of wine by the glass and when it arrived the portion of wine was sparse. We both ordered Caesar salads. They arrived drenched in a very strong garlic
dressing to the point I broke out in a sweat. I ordered the Mixed Seafood Grill which was nicely prepared and my wife selected Swordfish & Spatzle. Her swordfish was floating in an immense amount of masala brown butter. We shared our disappointment with Mathew who expressed concern and made inquiry of the chef who acknowledged the mistake in preparation. We finished up with a shared slice of mud pie which was delicious and was complimentary in light of our special occasion. A nice touch was that our menu was imprinted with a personalized Anniversary greeting. My conclusion this restaurant needs remedial action particularly in the kitchen and is materially overpriced(including the wine list) while the staff does yeoman work.
Manager was not very observant I got up to get my own drinks from the bar after waiting 20 min all because he and his hostess sat 5 4 tops at the same time with 1 server. Less than 50 people in the place any good manager should be able to keep that little amount of people happy. Server was great but her boss screwed her I still tipped her 20% it was not her fault
This was the 5th time we've chosen The Chart House for a Thanksgiving meal. It has never disappointed! Almost better than homemade . . . and no dishes to clean up! We choose The Chart House for any special occasion that suits our desire for a great cocktail, delicious meal, attentive service and a reason to celebrate.
Our server was engaging and attentive. Excellent on all fronts. The prices seemed a little excessive considering what/how much you get though. If I’m paying $9 for a cup of clam chowder and $40 for a piece of prime rib, I think the entree should come with more than a small scoop of mashed potatoes. At least a seasonal veggie or a choice of sides. Then again, it’s Tahoe, so I guess that’s to be expected.
Other than a great view, there's not much that sets this place apart from any other chain restaurant. Premium prices for average food. Service was friendly but not particularly good - inattentive would be an appropriate description. Farmed fish. Feed lot beef. Stocky asparagus. Wholly unimpressed.
Went for our anniversary. Restaurant had menus printed with happy anniversary and date on top of menu. Server was excellent and food was awesome. The server made several recommendations for food choices as well as preparation. Will definitely be back on our next trip to Tahoe.
