Chart House Restaurant - Jacksonville Ratings and Reviews
The decor and ambience was great--need a bigger bar for waiting for reservation. Speaking of that--made one on line the night after V Day so would be no problem. Got there early for drinks at the bar but couldn't get the hostess to tell us when we could be seated. It took stern talking to the manager. But service after was good.
My friends and I were really looking forward to a wonderful meal here. Sadly, this was not the case. My 3 shrimp were tough & 3 undersized scallops were dry. There was a noticeable lack of butter so I had to rely on salt for any flavoring at all. The same for my husband who ordered the fillet mignon. Not flavorful and not hot. I ordered the salad bar and it's a good thing because due to the small portions, I would have left hungry had I not. The service was fine but not stellar. Our server was very personable but I had to request a beverage refill and my husbands request for a napkin was forgotten / ignored. I requested a window seat with a water view and was told that "all of our seats have a water view." Funny that my back was to the water the entire meal. Considering the prices for this rip off meal, I had high expectations and left very disappointed.
It frustrates the crap out of me that a premium resturant on waterfront setting does not keep the windows clean. After all much of this resturants ambience centers on the waterside view. I don’t care what the excuses are..this is my 2nd visit in nearly 12 months apart and the same look. If you can’t clean them, tint them very dark!!
Very disappointed with the slow service. We were seated at 5:40, salads were delivered to our table at 6:15 and entrees didn't come until after 7. Another table in our area was seated well after us and paid their bill and left before our entrees were delivered. The manager was unconcerned with the slow service. Although the food and the view were lovely, definitely not worth the price due to the service. Doubtful we will go back.
Our server Burt was great, very knowledgeable and very pleasant. The only negative we would say is that the food tends to be under-seasoned. The food was served at the right temperature, it looked great, but unfortunately needed a bit more in the flavor department.
The Chart House has been a part of my culinary experience for many years. While in high school and college, I worked at the Chart House in Melbourne, Florida in the front of the house and back of the house. My brother worked there also, achieving head waiter and trainer status. I know the standards of the Chart House for food and service well.
We went to the Chart House for our anniversary. I love the uniqueness of the Jacksonville location so the ambiance was great. The personalized menus were a great touch. What was lacking was the service. Our server was very nice but she lost our drink order, was slow in the sense that it took a long time for her to come by to take our food orders and left empty plates on the table way too long. She was apologetic and admitted she had only been there a couple of weeks. It seemed like she was assigned tables which were too far away from each other for such a new server. If her tables were closer to each other, it would be easier for her to keep track of them until she was more seasoned.
Speaking of seasoning, the food was outstanding. The kimchee calamari was awesome. I always enjoy the salad bar except the spinach leaves looked wilty so I skipped those. I like the kale califlower salad a lot. The prime rib was great, tender and flavorful. The chocolate lava was of course to die for. So overall, the dinner was a great experience and I would definitely go back, even if it was for drinks and that calamari again!
We haven’t been to the Chart House in a while but we always considered it a great restaurant with excellent food. Three couples all went this weekend and we were all disappointed in the quality of the food. Scallops were over cooked, meals were cold when served and overall taste was below expectations. Very disappointed as this was not the case in the past. Hopefully it was just a bad night but because of the cost, we won’t be experimenting any time soon.
In the past, this has been an exceptional restaurant, and in fact what made us become Landry’s members. However the past few times we’ve been it has not been too good. Unfortunately last night was awful. 4 guests, 2 of us ordered filets. They both were charred and one of them was literally rancid. And I am in no way kidding. There was a funny smell when the food was brought to the table, but unfortunately we didn’t realize that smell was the steak until it was at my mouth and taking a bite of it. An apology was given and another meal offered , however my appetite was completely gone at that point. I was not charged for the meal, but was really amazed at the lack of true concern by management. To me it felt as though it was treated as an every day thing instead of a rare occurrence . I no longer feel comfortable recommending this restaurant to any one. We are from Jacksonville. There are plenty of nice restaurants here that will exceed your expectations, so don’t waste your time here. ( our actual server was great )
The staff was super friendly and service was excellent. We had our first experience eating caviar and the staff instructed us on the proper way to enjoy it. Even though the cost is a bit more than we normally spend, we really enjoyed our visit. We already have reservations for our next visit.
Very good. Little pricey but the food, service and selection was good. Kim che calamari and Lobster bisque were great. Whole snapper was very warm, moist and flavorful. Partner’s filet was cooked as requested, very happy with her meal. Overall, a fun night with great friends and good food. And the lava cake was scrumptious!
I have now visited this restaurant twice for special occasions. The service is always awesome and the food match. You get greeted out front with the complimentary valet, front hotess who escorts you to your table and then the waiters are the friendliest and most efficient. My most recent visit we had Chris as our waiter for my friend birthday. He was amazing the card signed by all staff made my friend feel special. Nice view of the river, decent prices and great tasting food. Would recommend this place to anyone!
A MISERABLE EXPERIENCE UNFORTUNATELY. I HAD VISITED OTHER CHART HOUSES AND THEY WAERE VERY GOOD. I ASKED WAITER, CAMERON, HIS RECOMMENDATION BETWEEN AMBERJACK AND SWORDFISH, HE RECOMMENDED AMBERJACK WHICH I ORDERED, MY SON WANTED SWORDFISH, OPPS THEY DIDNT HAVE IT. CRUMMY MOVE. WAITED 20 MINUTES FOR BAD SPINACH SALAD. TURNS OUT AMBERJACK IS TRASH FISH AND WAS OILY. NEVER GO BACK ANYWHERE. STAY AWAY !!!!
My husband and I had two entrees -- Stuff flounder and Cedar Plank salmon. Our server was excellent -- however, the food, especially the sides, were barely warm. We didn't have time to send things back as we had a concert to attend. For that much money, we expect all the food to be hot. We Love the Chart House -- always have. We will return. But we were disappointed this go'round.
