The service was a nightmare. We were seated at 620p. Didn’t get our entree until 740pm. Our steamed oysters came out cold. The steak was mediocre at best and our server was forgetful and needed to be fully trained. I haven’t ate at the chart house Jacksonville in 8 years and it will be another 8 years until I return.
Went to early dinner for prime rib, seated overlooking the river. Had my favorite scotch so that was great. The service was phenomenal and the food excellent. If you go request Vance as your server, you will not be disappointed.
The restaurant was not very crowded and our server was never to be found, not very informative with terrible table manners.
I felt the food was below average which I was disappointed in.
I ordered the swordfish and my wife ordered the grouper which were both tasteless.
the pricing was on the high side which would have been ok if the food was good.
the ambiance was great .
Had the worst experience of my life on February 15th, 2020 for my Valentine’s Day celebrations with my fiancé. Arrived for my reservation that was at 9:15 at restaurant waited an hour to get seated and the hostess was very rude after being seated ordered appetizers and order entrees the manager came over to table very condescending stating that they going to get the food out ASAP since we were waiting for an hour to be seated. Then after sitting for over 45 minutes waiting for entrees the waiter/server came to table we asked why it taking so long after we were told by manager that they we were going to be serviced quickly he stated that they were larger party ahead of us and that why it taking extremely long. Then had to wait almost 30 minutes before food came out when the food came out it was cold and my fiancé requested for his steak to be well done and it was bloody red when the sever came over to the table jolly happy as if it was a joke on us sitting there waiting to eat after almost 3 hrs and insisting for him to cut into his steak and it was not cooked well done it was red and manager came over and apologize and stated oh it not cooked. At that point In time we were highly upset and annoyed and told them we no longer wanted anything and was very disgusted with the service and still turned around and tip the server even throw we could not have dinner there. I would not suggest or recommend anyone to dine at that restaurant the service is extremely horrible and disgusting, no one checked with us while we were at the table. The worst experience have dined at many restaurants all over the country and world and never experienced this type of service. My first and last time at your establishment.
I was dissatisfied first with a reservation at 845 and not seated until 930. Another couple had a reservation for 7 and promptly got seated at 845. Not good! Then, I order the lobster and get told 15min after I order, they dont have anymore. Not a satisfying way to spend $130
Overall, the restaurant was very nice and had an amazing view. However, my boyfriend and I made a reservation and had to sit and wait for 30-45 minutes before we got seated. Not sure why we had to wait so long either considering we made a reservation and showed up right on time.
In addition, my boyfriend ordered a New York strip steak and to send it back twice because it wasn't cooked properly. He ordered it medium rare and it came out purple in the middle every time. The waitress was very courteous and apologized for the mistake. The manager even came out and asked if there was anything they could do (they ended up removing his meal from the bill which was nice). Fortunately, the prime rib I ordered was cooked to a perfect medium rare! I loved it!
All and all, a very nice place, we just didn't have the greatest experience this time.
One of the Best Restaurants in Downtown Jacksonville, FL.
Have been going here for years for special occasions and regular meals. Salad Bar and dinners are great. A bit pricey but the venue and food are great.
It was great
I took my wife for our anniversary and we had a wonderful experience.
Our favorite place and never let’s us down. Very iconic also. Keep it going!
I thought it was odd the restaurant knew it was our anniversary but sat us at the only table in that section that did not allow us to sit side by side. We had to sit across from each other.
A unique and interesting venue right on the river with a great view of downtown. Food was very good but a bit pricey but as special occasion it was fine. Wait staff was excellent. My fish was good but really unremarkable but my wife’s special lobster treo was excellent. Will return.
The food was good but the service was slow. Our reservations was at 5:30pm and we were seated immediately. We did leave the restaurant until 7:45pm.
Excellent overall service. The staff was outstanding and the food was magnificent!
It was my girlfriend's birthday, and we were staying at a nearby resort. I didn't know what to expect. But I was put at ease as I pulled into the parking lot. The building has wonderful presence on the St. Johns River, and the parking valet set the tone for the service for the rest of the evening. The manager sat us in a booth with a great view of the river, and Rachel's service the rest of the night was perfect. Definitely will eat at the Chart House when I'm in Jacksonville.
Definitely over booked reservation wise. But once seated, couldn’t ask for a better anniversary
Strike one- We were seated 40 min later than our reservation via Open table.
Strike two- We were a party of 5 (2 adults and 3 children (11 years old)) - We were sat at a four top when couples were sat at a booth for five or six people. It did not make any sense to us. Once the food arrived, the table was so tight that my son even knocked over his water glass. What? Help? No as we cleaned it up with out our waitress.
Strike three- food was sub-par for the price. We were encouraged to partake in Jacksonville’s best salad bar by our waitress. More than have the food bins had frozen food (i.e. celery). What a joke!!!
Will never return!
It was Valentine’s Day and my boyfriend’s birthday. Besides having to wait 50 mins for our table after having reservations, the evening was perfect. The staff was apologetic and sat us in the best seat and our waitress and food was amazing.
We’e eaten at Chart House many times, and it’s always been good. But this visit was disappointing. We had a 7:00 pm reservation, but didn’t get seated until 7:40. We were told they ran out of food, and after waiting 45 minutes for our meal to arrive, it arrived undercooked and ha to be sent back. Our server did a good job, but it appears management dropped the ball.
Our reservation was for 5:30 - meal wasn’t served until after 6:30. Wrong soup delivered, meal ordered was not as menu described. Hostess kept circling tables checking on availability. We have been there before with excellent experience. I believe overbooking & rush in the kitchen led to poor experience this time.
I’ve given Chart House so many chances and now I’m done. Food and presentation on Valentines Day was very poor, they are using some Pré-prepared entries, the prime rib was awful, the swordfish was adequate and the service was terrible. Don’t the owners know anything about proper plating and including a little veg and garnish with the entree? Where else do you have to beg any employee passing by to get your server to bring you your drinks or check for refills? This makes no economic sense for the restaurant. The crowning proof of déclassé status was a little Landry’s restaurants hype along with the check about getting discounts by obtaining one of their “membership” cards and spending in their restaurants. This is supposed to be a fine dining establishment. And for the love of heaven, please clean the windows regularly. Before Landry’s bought it, this was a fine restaurant in a landmark property. I can only hope Landry’s will sell it to someone who actually cares about this iconic Jacksonville building and restores it to its former glory before it is razed to make way for another high rise condo. The restaurant was full for Valentines Day and Chart House’s customers deserved to experience something better than what I observed.
I will never return to the Chart House I hear from someone I trust that it has significantly improved its menu, service, food quality and chef.
better than expected! Service was great, food was good.
Valentines night was busy but to have a guy standing over me making notes after every bite was ridiculous. Our server sucked and food was ok at best. Been going there for years and it’s always been great. But this time was horrible
Great ambiance, food and service. Only imperfection was it was cold at our table.
We had reservations at 8pm and were seated at 8:20pm. We were finally served water at 9pm. You can take it from there. We were entertaining guest from Texas and I was embarrassed b y the service.
I have lived in Jax for over 15 years and have been to Chart House multiple times (mostly Christmas Eve and the occasional birthday). During those visits the total experience has been solid. Unfortunately this time (Valentines Day Eve) the experience was absolutely awful from start to finish. We had a reservation at 7:30, didn’t get seated until 7:50 or so. Once sat, our waitress made no effort to apologize for the wait, no “thanks for joining us tonight” no “here’s our specials” etc...throughout the evening she was incredibly lazy, slow to come back to our table (rarely did), was found taking multiple breaks to chat in their back room area with other coworkers, took a long long long time to bring food out, NOT ONCE did she ask if we wanted refills (we did). On top of that our dessert (hot lava cake) came out very cold and again, just overall extremely terrible service. The longest our waitress was at our table was when she was pushing some kind of rewards program which we nicely declined and she then decided to go to her other tables and saying things like “why wouldn’t you want this program?” (Referring to us declining). Which in our minds, why in the world would we want to sign up for some stupid rewards program and possibly have to go through this horrendous experience again. All of that being said, when you pay $200+ for a dinner, you really expect the absolute best and this was VERY FAR from best.
They took off the mezze plate from the menu. I wonder if it was changed for valentines weekend.
The Food was very good our server was very professional. The food came in a timely manner. I highly recommend the Chart House Jacksonville
Love this place. great date night for me and my wife.
Good as always. The crab cake was kind of mushy needs to be cooked more firmer. Overall dinner was great.
Food was outstanding. I had the mahi and my wife had the salmon, the presentation was awesome and had perfect flavor. Wouldn't have expected any less. Van was an outstanding, he was very attentive. The GM Mark definitely stopped by to check on us as well.
Been going to the Chart House for many years. The food was good, but the service was poor. We had a reservation for 5:30 pm. We had to ask our waiter several times about our food, etc. It was 7:30 before getting our entree and rushing through our dessert to try to make it to a concert at 8:00 pm. We told our waiter upfront before ordering we had a concert to get to. We called the manager over while waiting for our entrees. Two of the ladies had gotten the salad bar as their entrees and finished eating it 30 minutes before the others received their entrees. We were very disappointed in this, considering we had always had good food and service in the previous visits. We had planned on taking another couple who are new to Jacksonville to the Chart House for dinner, but have decided to go elsewhere now, since this evening also involves attending a concert/show after dinner.
The service was outstanding! The staff was very personable. The food was amazing. Service seems to be slaking these days. I was true impressed with the Chart House and I can’t wait to go back.
After multiple trips to Chart House, the food remains consistently good. The music was a little to young and loud for my taste but normal for today. Excellent ssalad bar - attentive service - creative bar drinks
Food was deplorable. Cannot believe the chef sent out the desert cold when it was hot lava cake. Overcooked and cold. Fish was dry and had a gas taste to it.
Just not good. Obvious “up sell” on each person’s order was not appreciated. The restaurant was freezing the whole time. Got half a cup of coffee and it was cold. Took about 15 minutes for waitress to return bill. There have to be better places in Jacksonville to eat.
Best meal ever!! Prime Ribeye... yummm!
I have always found Chart House to be an excellent restaurant to entertain friends or just go to enjoy the food, service and the view of the waterfront. I requested a table so that my guest would not have to go down any stairs and the manager was happy to oblige. Our waitress was very patient as we prefer to enjoy our drinks before we eat. Leah was understanding and ready to take our order when we were ready. Our dinner was a birthday dinner and the birthday dessert was appreciated.
